Any point of 2 drum mags?

    Tell the story, dammit! :)

  4. Judging by the fact the OP has given a reasonable argument and spent time to make his post and reply to others, you sir, are the troll here. Go away.
  5. Ever since I played OFP the one thing everyone bitches about is the shitty controls in Arma. I've been using them for over 10 years so to me, I don't have an issue with them but I remember when I first played OFP and how infuriating they can be. Here's on suggestion, Tap CTRL to toggle stand/crouch Hold CTRL to go prone, tap to go to crouch from prone - that saves 2 keys doesn't it?

I can't agree with this. You're playing an alpha, there's a warning on the screen every time you play telling you it won't work correctly. Anyone arguing about the rate of decay should leave the game alone until it goes gold.

    Players start with a map

As a lover of hiking and map reading, I like to use the map and compass to make pinpoint headings and see if I can make it. The compass in game is utter shite of course and they haven't been made like that for decades. Where's my Silva Compass? No but the map does center on you as you open it, like you said but this needs to go too. Maps don't tell you where you are, you have to work that out for yourself but then DayZ is pretty easy mode......oh wait, isn't it meant to be unforgiving? Seems to me the Devs aren't quite sure what they're doing and also, scroll wheel forward ZOOMS IN!
  8. I couldn't even do that! I just hid under my bed trying to use a coat hanger to turn on my pc so I could uninstall it but it was hopeless. I was shaking too much!

Your argument would be valid IF the town names on the in-game map were in Cryllic. As they are not, resources external to the game are required which negates your argument. Think of a new player. He's found a map in the first house and lucky him, it's the area he's actually in! He sees a road sign and excitedly runs up to it and it reads Гришино Bambi scratches head and hits Alt Tab
  10. I don't even know why I spawn with this useless item to begin with but I think it's time for it to go and be replaced with something random out of a pool of low tier loot. Items to randomly start with could be - Map - Screwdriver - can of food - dildo - gloves - torch/flashlight - Nothing (yeah, that's right) Also, why does nobody have a mobile phone?
  11. You argue like a creationist so lets go back to the start of your argument. You said Sure if there is a compatible charger in the glove compartment. And if you find a working car, if it has spare Watts to charge the phone, and that's one big IF. That argument has been entirely throw back to which you answered... Chernarus is poor, I think you would have to put some considerable time into finding one. Again, this argument was shown to be bollocks by byself and others on this forum because we all know that in reality, even kids in Africa have mobile phones and Chernarus is poorer than Africa? You then said, after failing to read my reply correctly Who is using those cars ? If it's only us the players there ? Who gives two shits about exact time or calendar ? What you have dentist appointment ? Want note book ? Pen and paper. No I don't. I'm a not social media person. And I don't keep pictures of ex. No I don't want to listen to music, makes me unable to hear other players. So farming doesn't use calendars does it. Taking pictures could offer no tactical advantage to planning a raid on a base. YOU might not like music but we don't care about YOU. YOU don't have to listen to it and besides, all those things I added were what you could use it for in a real ZA. The flashlight is perfectly fine for outdoors use and in fact, because it's not as bright it'll give you away less. I could have a pen and paper, but why? When I can have my gps, flashlight, notebook and recording device all in one unit why would I want to carry all these items separately. GPS worked in the MOD so it's likely to be in here. In all, there's a lot of good reasons to keep a mobile phone working without the ability to make phone calls and all your arguments have been addressed so we can't go any further on this :)

    Shoes in experimental

Not quite sure how you're reading my post as abrasive, perhaps you should remove the tint on your glasses? Anyway, you didn't answer my question; Who here has ever had a problem with their shoes, even they're really old crappy shoes from 10 years ago? I don't much care if the mechanic has just been introduced because I'm saying scrap it. It's such a mundane thing anyway. Nobody is going to be shouting about how cool dayz is because their shoes wear out at an incredibly unrealistic rate. The whole idea is stupid and wasn't worth implementing and they could have used that development time to fix or fix on other things. What does this add to the game? Nothing! I've never had any issues with my shoes in my life that has caused me problems. I had a hole in a shoe maybe 4 or 5 years ago and my foot got a little bit wet when it rained. Are we seriously saying that in DayZ, suddenly shoe wear because damaging? If it can damage you, it can kill you - can't it? Given the fact that - There will be shoes everywhere - you don't need shoes anyway - nobody is marching 20 km a day with wet feet - Shoes in real life do not hinder you in anyway unless half of the shoe is missing - CLOGS! It's as asinine as making u have a bogey up your nose you have to pick or you can't breath as well and you slow down a little bit. I'm struggling to come up with a valid reason for this because it seems like a colossal waste of time and entirely mundane. You'll need to elaborate the "problems" which I bet are nothing like they are in dayz. Saying that though, you just get another pair of shoes which in a ZA will be in every empty house. The point about adding in a cold was to give us something better than "shoe degradation". All that dev time spent on an unrealistic and worthless mechanic could have gone to something else, couldn't it? Yes I get you on the socks thing but in most temperate climates, you don't need to change socks all the time and your shoes don't need that much care. What you're talking about is being as comfortable as you can and whilst I completely agree "A good soldier is a comfortable soldier" it doesn't relate at all to the mechanic here which is, "your shoes wear at at a ridiculous rate and your going to penalised unrealistically for it too, not to mention it's such a mundane and asinine mechanic that you'll be considered the biggest geek on the planet if you ever point it out as a selling point for DayZ as in, "Yeah it's so awesome your shoes wear out like, all the time and then you can die from it!!" Shoes don't just suddenly collapse into dust on you, they wear out. When you notice the condition is getting to the stage where you're going to need a new pair, what do you think you're going to do? Think about real life and apply that here and you'll realise why the mechanic is a waste of dev time. So you're asking everyone here who is well versed, nay, experts I say in shoes and walking to believe that because you had a pair of shoes after walking around for a couple weeks break on you, that all shoes are like that? How about my army boots which I still have today that lasted me 3 years and did a lot more than walking streets. How about my hiking boots that have lasted years or a pair of trainers/sneakers. Nobody here wears out shoes this quickly and everyone here knows it. Your feet might start to hurt, my feet don't. They did after a 16 mile hike over mountainous terrain with 55lbs in my backpack though the next day, after a nights sleep they were fine again. There is NOTHING authentic about it, pathetic yes, authentic, no. I have reality on my side to back up my arguments. LOL your shoes killed you?

    Shoes in experimental

I've marched miles, hiked miles and my boots are fine. As soon as i've got back from a hike with a new pair of boots, they're not pristine. So what? I'm an expert on walking. I've been doing it all my life and unless the sole has gaping holes in it, a shoe is a shoe. Christ I've run around barefoot plenty of times too. There's nothing authentic about the shoe mechanic in the game and also, if I'm going to have to replace them every 6 months, why even bother? Now think of this - why not put in another illness like the common cold? It doesn't kill you but it will make you slower and you'll burn more food/water too whilst you have it. A far more authentic problem than that of shoes but let's ask the audience. Who here has ever had a problem with their shoes, even they're really old crappy shoes from 10 years ago? By problems I mean they killed you.
  14. A lot of idiots post that clip when they don't understand what is being said ;)

    Shoes in experimental

Doesn't it break immersion? Caring about shoes for a start is so asinine and the rate they decay in real life is years. There's seriously nothing immersive about having to find another pair of shoes after a few hours of running around. There's also another issue with persistence now, people having huge stockpiles of the most mundane crap. how's the server going to handle everyone's 10,000 item stash piles?
  16. We're talking one item like a can of beans or a screw driver if they get anything at all. I hardly think I'm going to be bitching over someone starting their 100th life and getting a can of spaghetti. You'd have to be pretty pathetic to get upset over that. The whole "Waking up on the beach" thing doesn't make any sense either. So everyone in the town died and became zombies? No survivors? It also says that each life you start at day 1 all over again, like groundhog day lol.
  17. Phones use GPS and your argument was about charging them. So we have a portable GPS system that can record video, take pictures, record sounds, make notes on, can play music, can play games (you need things to do on a ZA you know) can tell you the time and date, important for crops, and just about everyone on the planet has one and also has a little flash light which gives off less light than a flashlight but enough to see everything ur looking at. It could also hold build recipe's as well plus provide a log of your life length, seds/people killed, etc You can even use it as an alarm clock :)

I was going to say, if the rate of decay is long I'm fine with it. This bullshit time they can keep. I'll play again after the next patch, maybe. Do we even need this mechanic in game. As other people have pointed out, shoe's last a fuck of a long time and is it really worth all the dev and testing time on something that really isn't that big of a deal? Let's also remember that we didn't wear shoes as a species to begin with, like every other animal and I don't see them having issues because an Elephant can't squeeze into a pair of Wellies. Over time your feet would harden anyway and you wouldn't need shoes.
  19. Oh ok so you don't have a reasonable argument, you just don't want them. I'm not buying it's there to teach crafting without a source for that claim. I'm saying why not start with the possibility of having one item. If it's done where mostly you start with nothing, like 70% of the time, it'll be a nice little bonus when you do and add a little bit of difference to spawning fresh again.

.....and now you are doomed for ALL eternity. You should have asked someone, ANYONE, about *looks about and leans into whisper* "Green Mountain" before going there. Oh you noobie fool! We could have saved you but now it's too late :(

    Players start with a map

I think his point is that since most people use the online map (you HAVE to anyway to read road signs) then why not just make the map automatic in game by pressing M and not have it take a slot. Personally I would be happy with one map, in the correct language. There's no authentic, realistic, or intelligent reason the map would be smaller than a full size map.
  22. Yeah can't think of any use for a calendar..... So you agree that players use cars and as a player, you can use a car but your brain can't take the next step to work out that the car you're using can charge your phone? Are you fucking serious, dude?
  23. Jex

    Get it off your chest!

LMAO and I know what you mean and I really hate server hoppers so this is just hilarious. I might just play the game and do this all day now.

My mate and I do use the map for pinpoint accuracy but we've been playing so long now we know Chernarus pretty well. We could get by without needing the map now but it's still nice to have.
