Well talking to a friend of mine who plays MMO's a lot and is currently playing Archeage, he's saying there's no duping in that and not all MMO's have duping either so it's fixable - just hope the devs work on that before release.

Bollocks there is I'm growing tomatoes!!! Can't wait to find hemp seeds.....
-
There's a thousand ponds on the map you must be able to find one. If not eat fruit, canned peaches, sardines, soda. I spawned in yesterday after a month or so since I last played and I'm fully hydrated and have only eaten the above. Another thing to do is remember where ponds are around the map. If you can mark say six of them across the map then you'll know you're never far from your next one and plan your route around it but keep an eye out for those tiny ponds along the way, there's tons of them :)

Seriously guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! These joke are "udderly" awful hahahaha best thread ever!
-
I jumped in quick last night and I have two packets of tomato seeds and some lime - do I just need a spade now? Can I plant these things?
-
When you've spawned a hundred times does anyone really give a shit where they spawn now? I couldn't give two fucks if a guy spawns at the NWAF because it doesn't affect me. Should I be that much of a pussy to complain and demand that because I got the game later than everyone else they should wait for me to catch up on my looting? If anyone has an argument other than "I don't like people spawning inland" let's hear it. Even if I spawn next to the NWAF it doesn't necessarily mean I'm going right there. My first priority on spawn is to meet my friends and find basic survival gear - guns can wait I've got forever to find them so what's the rush?
-
LMAO these jokes are awful, they're like a fawn in my side..... Do the zeds ever catch the deer? In my experience the deer just runs forever but it's Hilarius to watch ;)

I miss the global text chat channel that was in the MOD

LOL this! -
I think there's probably more ponds than wells across the map. Players are just going to switch to finding the other. Wells were the obvious option since they were in towns and you always topped up when you found one so not sure why they disabled them. It's not really going to make a huge amount of difference and the amount of ponds increased since the mod is huge :o

What you need to do is grab all that gear, run to the nearest shop looking building and start stacking it by type then sit outside in shorts and a t-shirt and ask people that come by if they need a new hat.... or trousers or boots or jungle boots or combat boots or sneakers or gloves....what colour? lol

What are your frames per second?

I agree with you on Chernarus, an amazingly made map that gave you a real sense you were there. A couple more towns would have been enough and you're right, nobody was asking for more towns, just more enterable buildings - now it's just got to the point where there's too many towns, as if running through 10,000 buildings is more fun that running through 1000 buildings. Sorry, buildings of boring aren't a recipe for success but unique locations are and Pobeda Dam is ruined, taken away and then replaced with a crappier version and looks as though it's in another town of boring.

Can you boil water yet? nvm

Nope and Nope. 1) I don't want my location advertised across the entire server thanks. It's totally unrealistic and unfair. 2) You should have to confirm your kills yourself, not rely on a message to tell you it's safe. -
LMAO what did you think it ran on? Hookers?
-
Welcome back Kos! :) Yep you get it - everything is the same no matter how you arrange the roads, all towns end up looking alike to the point of boring. Simply adding more towns and taking away countryside which was unique, is a move into boringness. Maybe they'll make new buildings but until that's confirmed, this is what we have right now and once again, nobody has been able to answer the quest "Why do we need more towns"? Apparently the countryside is boring. The answer to that - don't fucking go there then. Just run up and down the coast from town to town - weeeeeeeeee! ;)

:) Once the game is finished I can't wait to start surviving but right now, it doesn't have the depth for anymore than a few hours play though I say this on the back of playing the mod solidly for a year and a half so it's different for me than say, someone who is new to the game. I also limit my play time because I don't want to burn myself out on it.
-
Do what I do, come back and play it for a while and then leave it for 6 months and come back again. With all the content in it, there really isn't much to do. Getting geared is relatively easy and then when you have nothing to look for, you are left with just roaming the map and staying alive (aah!, aah!, aah!, aah!). There's hardly any zombies and persistence isn't working so you can't make a base yet but there are a lot of things to learn about as well (building a fireplace, picking fruit, making backpacks, hunting and cooking animals, etc). There's a lot to do to get you up to speed on learning everything so once you're done with all that, you can leave the game for another few months if you want and come back again with some new fresh content. You should keep an eye on the dev blogs and updates to see what's being done :)

OK so what makes buildings more interesting than a field? I don't get your argument at all because it seems like you're saying, remove all the fields, and forests and replace them with buildings. So why not just make the map one huge city - is that interesting? No. A field on it's own is not interesting but when it makes up the "landscape", it becomes a feature of that which may be an obstacle to cross, a place of observation, a place to set up a base, a place to grow crops. Do you know why people go on holiday to the countryside? You must not get out much and you also fail to understand what a landscape is. There's 40 towns/villages on the map, how is 41 going to make it a more interesting map? OK next part :) Put yourself in any major city, in the middle of it on a road and look around. Notice how it kinda looks like every city in Cherno? I'm not sure though why you would jump to a conclusion that I literally meant they copy and pasted the towns. I think it's a great idea :) Modders are really creative and it gives BIS less work to do as well.

I was watching a YT video earlier where the guy was showing a "new" village by the coast and it was boring. Boring to the point where I was completely underwhelmed because I've seen it 10 times before, just in a slight different configuration. The devs seem to think that throwing down buildings in a slightly different pattern is interesting but just chucking buildings down for the sake of it is mindless and it's starting to show. For an example into the world of boring, let's look at the "area" NW of Cherno - the "Towers of Boring" Does anybody ever go and loot those? ALL OF THEM? They're a pain in the ass to navigate, some rooms you can't even fit inside and they go on and on and on and on and..... Why did they have to design them the way they did? The thing with DayZ houses is I never really feel like they're real houses, that they're some weird house from some weird dimensions. The rooms are too small, they're layout is completely weird and the apartment blocks just show that off. So there must be at least a dozen there but they don't really serve a purpose, do they? Do people loot them or do they feel the same sense as I of impending frustration and boredom for a can of beans? To me, buildings should be interesting at least and if you're going to make an apartment block, at least make it navigable. They remind me of HALO where you had that part where you ran across bridges or something - basically they copied and pasted the same layout over and over except mirrored it that seemed to just go on and on forever. It's Lazy design and it looks shit, Devs. Fix it.

That whole area was forests originally, so yes, they have been destroyed.
-
Obviously I didn't know that, did I. Do you think I'd be talking about it if I did - no, so the whining is justified.
-
This! Where is the creativity gone? We could name a hundred unique, cool things to put in the map easily so i don't know why it's more and more frikkin towns. How about a zoo in the middle of a town with zombie monkeys!
-
Oh that sucks. Surely with a central hive you could assign numbers to each item? Then if it dupes, it dupes the number as well and then deletes one of them. Duping makes the hive database almost redundant when they're talking about limiting items that will spawn. How many "rare" AS50's did everyone have in the mod? LOL sometimes we'd find a base and they'd have 20 of the things in their stash.
-
No, I think most people are referring to the increase in buildings and ever decreasing rural areas. You can't dictate where people will go but why do we need more towns? We used to have a mass of wilderness up there where people would hide all sorts of things. You might think the map is huge but as a veteran player who roamed every square inch of that map and often ran the entire edge of it looking for people camps, tents or vehicles (with a friend it's surprisingly good fun if you have an appreciation for the work done on the map, like walking the outdoors and have a good conversation). Once you walked everywhere and then you check the heat map showing peoples movements (and taking into account the way tents stood out like a sore thumb past 100m), you found there were very few places to hide things. Some players will go looking for your stash and one of our friends was brilliant at looking for obvious places and going "I bet there's a tent here" and sure enough, most of the time he was right lol. Now there is no wilderness so to speak of, where are you going to hide anything. All that has happened now is the available farming, base-building and hiding spots has shrunk massively. So when it comes to you finding a spot to hide something, chances are you're going to find someone else's stash there or they're going to find yours. They didn't even make the tents green or brown, either. That "vacant field" you're talking about is probably where they cleared the area to add the town in. Before that it probably had something in it and even if it didn't, wtf is wrong with a vacant field? Have you ever looked at the countryside? When we say copy and paste, we mean the buildings are all the same, not that they highlight an entire town and then "ctrl - c'd" and then "ctrl - v'd" lol. Every town pretty much feels the same, just in a different order. They say they're adding in 4 unique locations. Personally, I don't see the attraction of a shit ton of cities everywhere - why do we need so many and what are you doing in them that's so much fun - cocktail parties? I would have added a few extra cities. one or two up north and maybe combine novy and stary - there, job done. Then I would have added in at least 10 unique locations including a mine/cave system. New buildings for the the cities in the north that had a completely different feel and each city would have something unique about it, like the hotel in cherno (which would have been enterable all the way up to the plane crash). Yes we know they are - we just don't find a town with exactly the same buildings in it as the last 5 towns are boring. They should have designed new buildings for the villages as well so they felt different. Maybe they will - why don't they hold a competition for modders to design houses to put in the game? Loads of people would sumbit buildings and they'd pick the ones they really like. Face it, DayZ/Arma2 buildings really aren't all that.
