LOL special forces..... I can tell you first hand that backpacks do not rattle around even when you're wearing webbing with ammo and all other kinds of crap in your bergen/whatever. For a start, most of your shit is so tightly packed - you're squeezing as much as you can into these things because you have limited space and too much gear you want to take. You have to understand that when you're going out in the field, you pack in there as much shit as possible because once you're gone, you can't go back and fetch it. The other thing is we're not running around at a full sprint with backpacks. DayZ is ridiculous in this regards. I've worn all the shit you get in days, the fatigues, webbing, backpacks, ammo, rifle, respirator, canteen, etc and it's a big "fuck you" to anyone that asks you to sprint wearing all that shit. Speed is a factor as well. The faster you move, the more sound you make and the more people you have with you, the more sound you make. Think of one person walking along the sidewalk and then a platoon marching down it - you can hear them coming from miles away. DayZ should employ Splinter Cell movement. They really executed that well and they should limit movement speed with heavy loads. You don't see hikers or military running everywhere for a reason. Number one being you don't want to break an ankle.

Seems to me that the people with a reasonable argument to change something to come to a midway point are being met by a wall of "NO!" There's a little thing called compromise. If I had my way, I'd make it First Person only. Go find another game to play if you don't like it but you won't find a game like DayZ and you'll be back. However, I'm not making the game and I'm willing to compromise on leaving 3pp in but changing it so it cannot be exploited. I don't get why some people here are arguing to keep the exploit in.

I'm going to say that I don't think you've thought this through much at all and if the game was first person only, you and all the other people saying they wouldn't play it "first person" actually would. The Forest isn't third person so presumably you're going to miss out on playing that because you can;t adapt to the game play? You do know you're a human being right? That saying you're unable to play a game because of a certain view type is lame. You have no issue playing other FPS's I assume so you'd have no issue playing this if it were. To say, if it was only fist person you wouldn't play it is just cutting off your nose to spite your face and I'm amazed that considering what the human race is capable of, that you and other people like you simply cannot or will not adapt to the challenge which is pretty sad when you consider what you're capable of.

That doesn't answer my question at all - why is it ok for a company to look through your personal files? Where in the TOS does it say "We want access to all your personal files to check for cheating"?

I'm assuming this is going to be changed otherwise it's complete bullshit and changes the entire nature of the game. If I know my death is only a few hits away why bother surviving at all and it's a BS mechanic. People heal. Why would they even put this in - what were they thinking when they decided this?

The best stuff is an Axe, Can Opener, Knife (whichever to cut up animals), Bow or crossbow for hunting, Cooking pot & stove (boiling water), Matches. Clothing and vests you need to hit the military places if u need the extra slots but once persistence is working right that's not going to be so important - it depends on how you play the game really but the items I listed are pretty much essential over an AK or M4.

I don't know what you mean by base building. Once you've built your base, if we build them at all, then you've built your base......? I agree with you but you're changing your what you said initially. I didn't say they should be the only source of gear, what I said was they should be ultra rare but always have some top quality gear on them. I found a crash site once, the Mi-8 and it had 2 pairs of boots and a tactical shirt. I'd rather not have found it thanks. I hope the devs imagination can stretch a little further when it comes to crash sites.

Maybe :) The concept of the game is a zombie survival right? So all these helo crash sites scattered over the map seem to go against the very nature of the game. The reason I say make them rare, like you come across one, on average, every 3 months, is because dayz is a long game. You're going to be playing for months, hopefully wit the same life but probably not. So playing for a long time means your going to find everything in the game - how about some elusive things that are that rare that if u ever find one your really excited about it. Don't stop with HCS - make some other things and have a pool of increasingly rare loot spots, for eg... Crashed jumbo jet abandoned military jeep/truck abandoned camp site (maybe 2 or 3 tents and a campfire u can light) etc Whatever it is, it gives you something to strive for after you've seen everything else. HCS become boring and commonplace if they spawn all the time. In Dayz there's going to be a lot of repetition as you strive to feed yourself and your friends. Having things pop up rarely just gives you that "Hey that was neat!" moment.

Which wouldn't make sense unless for some reason, there's thousands of helicopters flying around and crashing all over the place, even months or years after the outbreak? I'd rather have the wreckage overgrown and difficult to spot, no smoke and you come across it by chance as a rare event. Why shouldn't things be ultra rare?

Don't quote me, I haven't drank from a pond recently and I only read that Wells were disabled but, it seems moot right now with gear literally everywhere and food. Just eat the stuff I listed and you'll hydrate yourself at the same time :)

I think HCS should be ultra rare. Like a 1% chance of spawning on each server restart and it lasts an hour only before disappearing but it always has some really good gear.
