    I grew tomatoes!

    First attempt I found seeds and lime and then spent half an hour looking for a frikkin hoe after finding out I needed one. Of course, the day before there were literally hoes everywhere and yesterday could I find one? Could I fuck. Anyway, zombies killed me so that put an end to that. However, my friend was on too and I respawned in Cherno where he was. Now of course, in typical DayZ fashion, Hoes everywhere and no lime or seeds - WTF? I swear this game just fucks with you. Finally find a hoe and off we go to find a greenhouse. So, what do you do? The strip in the middle is where you point your mouse. Keep hoe'ing until all the plots around the middle strip are dug (or "digged" according to the game, as in, "I have digged one hole") After this, add the lime to the middle strip you're standing on and it will add that to all the holes and you can see that too - the texture changes. Simply add the seeds after this and wait maybe 20 minutes. You'll see the stages of growth until you see tomatoes hanging from them which you can now harvest for 13 tomatoes. We left 4 behind so will see if they are still there today :)

  3. Y Well everyone is saying you're disadvantaged playing 1pp against 3pp - I'm not sure why it needs repeating 3 times. It's the wall peeking that is the issue, not sure what else would greatly disadvantage you other than that?
  4. The battle is still going on because of the ability to wall peek. If I chose to play in 1stpp, why should I be penalised for doing so? Why should I have to put up with not being able to see over walls like other people can. I'm not talking about joining a 1pp server, I'm talking about playing on a 3pp enabled server because sometimes, I want to look at my Avatar. So why is nothing being done to make my choice of viewpoint equal to everyone else's? LOL you're all agreeing with each other ;)
  5. I'm not quite sure where you're coming from here. Nobody is going to complain to have the option of a harder mode in a game, are they now? You're drawing an entirely unfair comparison here. A more accurate representation would be if the 3rd person cam in the SA only looked back on the player and the player couldn't move or shoot or interact. If it was like I can bet you people would be demanding the "return" of "how it was like in the mod"

  8. LMAO shot in the head in the middle of a field eating peaches.... DayZ is just a game just learn not to sit in the open and always find some cover when you need to do housekeeping.
  9. I logged in once in the middle of woods near the apartments in Cherno, 10 seconds after I logged in I was shot dead. Since I wasn't moving and in full camo either someone got real lucky and saw me (with 20 people on the server) or something guided their mouse to my head.
  10. I'm not sure I see a difference. Even authenticity wouldn't make a good argument for a view that isn't even authentic since the 3pp doesn't come close to either word. But I think it's more to do with the game itself. DayZ originally started as a lose everything, gritty hard game of survival. In keeping with this, do we really need crutches? A helping hand on a game that's meant to be hard diminishes the overall game. I like looking at my avatar as well but I much prefer the 1st person view because it puts me in my virtual body. Occasionally I'll jump when a zombie unexpectedly jumps me which I wouldn't get in 3rd person. If prefer to play 1st person but on a 3pp server that severely goes against you. The experience in 1st person is more intense - if someone starts shooting at me I run for cover. I don't know where the shot came from but I need to look to see if I can see him. The thing is, when I peek out to take a look, I'm imagining a guy with a scoped rifle looking for me to peek. When you don't know where the shooter is, each time you expose yourself your expecting a bullet in the face. If 3rd person I get behind cover and completely safe and use the overhead cam. All the adrenaline is dispensed as I safely sit behind cover scanning the terrain. This isn't the experience I want in DayZ because there's too many games out there that cater for easy mode - DayZ was one of those games that had the balls to say "Fuck you and die asshole!" and it laughed in your face when you did. It didn't care that you cried loosing your rangefinder and NVG's - it drank your tears and then spat them back in your face ;)
  11. But most people think the things you've just listed should be changed. Leaving "realism" out of the debate is only relevant if DayZ is not striving towards realism - is it?

    Tried vehicles and dropped them. Maybe a bicycle but in my experience, vehicles just get you killed and you can be almost anywhere in 20 minutes on foot with a much better awareness of your surroundings.

    Oh I thought you meant in game.... A mate and I each drank a bottle of tincture on to of Klem Mountain - we were expecting to get drunk but instead we puked and gave ourselves food poisoning and then spent the next 2 hours running around looking for charcoal tabs lol
  14. 1pp is the closest view you can get to reality in a game. I'm not sure what else you're asking other than having your eyes in your head and holding down ALT will allow you to "quickly assess your surroundings" What it won't do is allow you to cheat by looking over things your avatar physically cannot. I think most 1pp advocates believe that if you want to make a realistic game then anything unrealistic should be removed. Since 3pp is wholly unrealistic, why have it in a game that is reaching for gritty reality and hardship. A magical camera over your head is completely unrealistic. The thing is, there are methods to keep the 3pp camera as it is and ensuring it can't be sued as a crutch but everyone is still arguing about it - the devs should just fix it already :)

    Track IR will allow you to do that however, is holding down the alt key really that much of an issue? I use the Alt key all the time it's second nature now and you don't need to be turning your body at the same time you're turning your head. Most people also look where they are walking, let alone sprinting - nobody turns there head to look all around when they are sprinting. Of course this is exactly the same in 3rd person, you can't see all around and the FOV is no bigger than in 1st person so you have exactly the same view problems only this time you can see ur av and over things. This is not an argument not to use 1pp.

    I dunno. I just know when I enter a lot of buildings things just seem off and I can't quite place my finger on it. However, it's not enough to be a deal breaker but we definitely need the stance system incorporated into the game - that would make a world of difference.

    This - why don't they put this in! Every FPS should have switchable stances now and as it's already coded into Arma 3 by the same company, just sling it in DayZ already! So wrong it's ridiculous but when you can just mmake anything up, why not go for it BIG STYLE lol There's nothing wrong with the 1pp but the buildings and vehicles are another matter entirely which BIS, even in Arma 3 seem to do fuck all about, and annoyingly so. If you have either Arma 2 or 3, just go and sit in a truck, passenger side and wonder why, when you turn your head to look out the window your eyes are level with the top of the window. In fact, it's a little higher meanging you can see out the window anything below the door, but trying to look out further is impossible and this shit has been going on since OFP, as well as the fucking windows - how the fuck can a company continually make shitty buildings that don't make any sense. There's nothing wrong with the view, the problem is with everything else your av is placed inside and it's been going on way too long that it's just ridiculous now. Bohemia employees all live in houses where the windowsill starts with their nose - and nobody at BIS noticed this?????? COME ON!!!!! lol No they need to fix it. Not only the windows but don't you feel the houses you walk into are somehow just weird. Like they're just a little too small or they're designed oddly - there's just something incredibly weird about every house I go inside except the barns, they just don't make sense. Next time you're in a house, think about the layout and how it would feel if you were there RL and had to live in it oh and BIS, start fixing this shit! It's exactly the same FOV you get in every other FPS so presumably you can't play those either. What you see through your screen is the same as it would be in COD, BF4, etc and the FOV sldier works exactly the same except Arma allows you way more flexibility than COD ever will.

    Drop everything except the makarov (did you know you can shoot helicopters down with them?) then find 20 walkie talkies and put them on the same channel and hide them around Elektro in bushes. With the last radio, go somewhere high and talk into it. 19 other radio's will shout your challenge around the town as you dare, yes I said dare, anyone to try and take that Makarov, which shot down a helicopter once with one bullet, from your cold, dead hands....

    My Favourite melee weapons, in no particular order are Fire Axe - 1 hit kill Splitting axe - 2 hits pick axe - 2 hits Hoe - 2 hits (and you can grow tomatoes with it)

    If they could implement proper ballistics with wind/weather effects then let everyone have a sniper rifle - they won't be able to make long range shots with it and anything under 400m an assault rifle with a scope is far better.

    It's a great idea and was implemented for Aram 2 ACE mod. I think in that you could drag or throw them over your shoulder, both of which should be in DayZ too :)

    1) Let zombie run at you and step to the side as it gets close. 2) switch to walk mode 3) circle-strafe zombie and hit it until dead.
