Whilst I agree, I'd prefer to stick to the point that 1pp over 3pp for me is just a lot more immersive and now that I exclusively play 1pp, playing 3pp is simply half the game. I did miss watching my character a little at the start but that soon goes to be replaced with a weird feeling of looking at yourself but not through your eyes. Not everyone wants immersion of course, they just want easy pvp.

I tried throwing a hoe at a deer. I lost the Hoe but the deer bolted like I hit it so maybe it just needed another hit to take it out or we should have another way to make rope :)

Try dragging around the typical trailer for that truck with one wheel missing and see how much fun you have....

Something I practically never have to do with my friend so ur not missing out on much - doesn't anyone use either of these with any regularity?

Yes the whole "Making a bow from scratch" is useless when the source of your rope keeps running away from you lol

Yeah except you don't have a wider field of vision, the camera is just a little further back from you and the FOV slider changes your....FOV :) Which in turn stops you feeling sick. I was playing a mix of 3pp and 1pp but recently, my friend and I have changed to 1pp exclusively. I've gone back to 3pp servers and the game now feels stupid to play as I look over things - it's just half the game and every now and then I love having the shit scared out of me when a zombie I wasn't expecting screams and jumps at me from nowhere. I also like it when we hear gun shots and we have to decide what to do and how to position. The intensity of it is so much better than 3pp where you run to a bush or behind a rock and then use "suck all life from this encounter" view and just camp looking around until you spot movement. If you want a real game, First person is where it's at. You can't just run around corners. It makes you think about placement and makes you feel vulnerable when you hear a gunshot or footsteps when you're not expecting them. Do you stay put, do you run away, do you reposition, do you go hunting - each decision has consequences in 1st person. In 3rd person all that is removed when you can just look over everything and around corners. There used to be somewhat of a reputation for playing games that didn't help you along years ago. Where games basically said "fuck you, you're not getting any help." Where you had to learn skills to be able to compete. I guess those days are gone now and in the gaming world there's not really any point in being good at anything now since devs put so many crutches in today's games.

I don't see why it would change from the way it is now and who cares - if it's an rp server and your player base want RP then they won't mind if they lose all their gear. I won't play on 3pp servers unless I want to goof around so when ur 1pp let me know and I'd love to play on an rp server - what's it called?

Because rather than base the way firearms work in RL, they'd rather just make it up as they go along.

I used turbo to get it running - seemed to accelerate so slow so add turbo and once it's got going it seems good. :)

There can always be a reason to wipe the database when they want to test things from scratch again so it's something you all need to expect during the testing phases :)

My mate and I found our first truck purely by accident the other day - it was fucking awful! OK devs take note here - In arma 2 we had the same crap as we do here in that everyone is too tall for the seats! Do you not test these things out for yourselves. When I sit in my car, my eyes are not level with the top of the windows. How on earth you even get it to look like this is beyond me. Am I correct in saying they respawn on a server restart?

What happened to instanced, underground bases? And bring stashes back!

My friend and I are having a blast with DayZ and one of the reasons for that is we don't constantly play it. I'll give you a run down of our "exciting" gameplay last night. We headed from our camp into a town nearby looking for digging implements, seeds and lime to try out the new garden plot. On the way back to camp we were discussing our immediate plans which were to, Dig the plots, add the lime, plant the seeds. Once that was done to look for any nearby water sources and then find observation and defensive points around our camp. All that took around 2 hours and as always, we chat about things. We always give ourselves objectives. Tonight we'll be bow hunting - we're low on steaks but we'll need to make arrows first so we have a few chores before we can set off and we need to sharpen up our bow skills anyway. After that we might go hit a military base however on the lives we're on now, we only just found gorka jackets (in barns) and both have Winchesters with the large hiking backbacks and no military gear. In game time we've been alive maybe 20 hours by now.

Fuck! arrrghhhhh! I forgot it was bloody Wednesday today now my pepper and tomato plants will be gone - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

2 Patches ago out of 8 times I used snares (i had 2 so put them down 4 times) I got at least 5 rabbits from them and they were very tasty, thank you.

I don't know but I'll find out when I get home tonight. My friend and I have started sticking to a couple of servers and we now have a place we're calling home for now. The server we were on rebooted which was great because we placed some things down to test persistence. However, Dayz being Dayz the server never came back up so we swapped to one labelled persistence and I dug some plots in a greenhouse and planted. That was hours ago now so hopefully the plants will still be there when I get back later. Oh and the other good thing? There's a barn near our camp, red roof one, I ran down there after we swapped and it was full of everything so finding seeds, hoes, lime, etc was easy so we could get out little experiment underway :)

How do you know all the information is still relevant?

That is fucking awesome! These are the things you'll remember about DayZ which also make it a great game.

I think my zucchini just orgasm'd.....

Even if you know the NWAF or other bases have no loot, they are still worth "going through the motions" on medium to high pop servers just for the experience - it keeps you on your toes.
