Wait until they make that sound outside your bedroom window at 4am - it's more annoying (I actually like it, plus the owls) ;)

Seems like he deleted his account before I could add him to my ignore list. -

Not only that but he keeps repeating himself like he's trying to convince how right he is. He isn't, he's a pussy for logging and we all know it. Who's he trying to kid or troll here? -

Straight out the mouth of the NRA rule book. Europe doesn't have an issue with guns and we don't want them, thanks. What's your plan - to kill another human being - glad that's so easy for you to think u can do, murderer. -

I knew I just went too far with the can opener... -

So we should base the survivor on what you carry, or what most people carry around with them in real life. Why on earth do u carry a gun around with you - are u one of those weirdo people that has all those beans in his basement? I forgot what you call them.... -

This is why you make it mundane stuff. Here is a list of things not worth suiciding over (and why suicide, they're that dependent on one thing they can't live - that's a pussy right there) Can opener - rare Glowstick - common Nothing - common screw driver - uncommon wrench/spanner - uncommon Can of food - common There's a list right there you wouldn't suicide for. Also, since we spawn on the coast, the stone knife is an instant get thing already - that's starting gear right there if u go get it and it's pretty powerful too (or was 4 months back). -

Guys we're missing the point here. Who cares if it's in the rules or not in the rules. We all know it's the actions of a complete pussy and we wouldn't do it. Some people are too scared to play the game and get anxious and have to log off. We can't stop them doing it so there's no point going on about that. Just acknowledge that self proclaimed pussy's will be trying to play the game and we might come across them from time to time. -
Damn it! lol So we can't go fully nature just yet then.

Talking of things coming in, did the new rendering engine get implemented?
-
Beat me to it - I'd say 3 valleys too. One of my favourite spots on the map in fact.
-
Thanks that's great to know :) So I can't catch a chicken with a stone knife?
-
Thanks! The chicken is for the bowstring from the guts? So are feathers useless right now - they don't increase accuracy?
-
NICE! :)

NP - having left DayZ alone for 4 months I've been feeling the need to get back into it and this guide is great in telling me what new things there are to do. Now when I get on over the weekend, the guide gave me a new objective. We're going to spawn in fresh (if we aren't already) and then from the get go, lose all our clothes...... and then do nothing but live off the land. Everything we eat and make and wear will come from what we can get naturally (I just hope chickens are fairly common so we can make a bow quick). Once we've maxed out on all the normal gear - then we might forage into town looking for other things. One question, are matches the only way to light fires now?

LOL but think of the crap you'd have to go through to get through the night - much more fun and most people are only going to join day servers anyway. Start gear should be random from a pool and a chance of nothing too - consider this - when you start the game and you have 2 pockets and ur stone knife is in one. What's going to win over the can of beans or the glow stick? It's useless and you'll find 20 in your travels before night fall. In fact, now I think about it, it's down right moronic to have it in there just because the original did. When a bad idea is shit, keeping it in for nostalgia is not a good idea. It's time to drop it. ;) -
This is great stuff!

How would you feel if 1st person perspective was mandatory?
Jex replied to FlimFlamm's topic in General Discussion
It's like being clairvoyant. In 3rd person, you know what's around the corner before you get to it. I like jumping out of my seat when a zed I missed leaps at me from the shadows into my face. That happened 0 times I played 3rd person. You want to run away from a zombie, in first person you don't know if 10 more are around the next corner, your limited view adds to the stress of the situation - all the gear you found so far could be gone - how do you lose the zeds, should I run up those stair or through that door - shit! It's a deadend...now u have to fight..... 3rd person has none of this. You see everything before it happens and you're floating eye above the action and untouchable. You play from the perspective you use and 3rd person has you floating in the sky above everything, care a free. 1st person has you in the shit and when the shit hits the fan, your heart rate goes up. Everything suddenly gets more personal because you're inside your avatar. Since FPS and not TPS are more popular, I'd say that anyone claiming FPS are just not fun are wrong. -
How would you feel if 1st person perspective was mandatory?
Jex replied to FlimFlamm's topic in General Discussion
It's hilarious that the game became so popular because it was ruthless and difficult (remember in the mod when the average lifespan was something like 1 minute?) and most people didn't even know 3rd person existed and played on 1st person - there were no cries then to introduce 3rd person and everyone loved the brutality of the game. Move to today and we have people defending a play style that makes the game easy - they are the anti-anti-game people that want it easier or never played the mod in the early days before the crap like epoch came along. People say the old feeling of the game is gone, well, when you make things easier you lose the fear as well and there goes the experience. -
So where did it go?

Starting gear has always been confusing to me. Right now, I have my wallet, car keys and phone on me which are almost always on me. Why don't we have a phone? They have flashlights and everyone has a phone. Better yet, why not randomise the start gear factoring starting with absolutely nothing - there's no reasonable argument not to do this as long as the random things are reasonable. Personally I'd set it to 50% nothing, 50% random item. Everyone starting with the same gear just seems to be stupid to me. -
FUCK OWOWOWOWO!!! That hurts just thinking about it!

A 100,000 foot fall? Not likely unless she was in the space shuttle ;) (poo someone beat me to it lol) But, people have fallen out of planes and lived after falling a few miles, 20,000 feet, 35,000 etc. So we're talking 17mph here for a 10 foot fall, which can very much be fatal but as you can see above, after the first 1900 feet, it doesn't matter from that point, you're not going to get any faster.
