Modding extends the life of a game. Nobody in the right mind should be having issues with that fact. I pretty much guarantee modding will re-invigorate DayZ.. think about the possibilities! new map(s) is just one real biggie! Chernarus even though being updated (and better than it was) is old, very old. I think some people tend to get blinded by the extra loot/weapons and PVP focus etc.. rather than seeing good things that can come from modding. I'm really looking forward to seeing what people can do with DayZ, a change will be welcome.

I'd shoot you, anything that hides (or even partly hides) the face is shifty. Weirdly though.. I don't mind the dust mask haha!

Incompetence at Bohemia Interactive's Infringement Dept.
[Gen]Adzic replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Ahh now I understand, I think. You provide a PVE only server that if players KOS on (against the rules and ideology of the server), they get banned. You set a fee for players who wish to appeal and undo that ban. I assume to act as a deterrent? that some disagree with paying and subsequently reported you and now your in a dispute with BI. It's the same as asking for donations to run a private server if you ask me. I don't see any other clan/groups getting into this sort of trouble for doing that, so I understand your frustration. -

So a bunch of cheaters or people who dislike your server/rules shut you down by complaining to BI that your keeping them from playing the game? I'd have assumed that's doing their job for them and helpful.. hmmm, I still don't get it, the whole thing makes no sense to me. Excuse me if I missed something but when you talk about monetization, what do people have the option to pay for and why? maybe that's the issue. Are you (or perceived to be) running some get rich quick scheme or something, by using DayZ as a means to pocket some dough? -
A little bit of me just died inside.. again. Had me some Déjà vu too.. again! Hey, not all doom and gloom.. at least the community spotlights are different.

I literally have no idea what I just read but it was as captivating as the recent Status Report was. Kudos. Edit = Lest we forget, because game is Alpha? -
I feel ya sokaku, it's always an epic adventure until the You Are Dead screen appears, oftentimes outta nowhere. I don't wish to jinx your dude, but I'd like to share a past experience if I may. Hopefully you'll take something from it that'll keep your character alive even longer. I myself had a great character once, I called him Wilson (in reference to the infamous volley ball from the Cast Away movie). Wilson was to become a traveler and a person people could trust. His interests were never for danger but that of survival and aid.. he'd spend his days (and nights) searching for food, clothing and medical supplies primarily to give to other people who also found themselves in this same hell, appealing to peoples needs rather than thier wants, figuring it was probably his best chance of survival when it came to confrontation. He knew that if he had nice things, rare expensive things and weaponry that people would tend to want them and will often just take them whatever the cost.. Wilson was a psychologist before the breakout, he found use for his skills and applied them in his interaction with others, they helped him differentiate good from evil. Wilson made many friends on his travels and even managed to escape some very nasty people, particularly two armed men who thought it was fun to tie him up and try to feed him to the infected.. of course they failed in their attempts and luckily ran off when by some miracle a passer by fired off a few rounds of a rifle. He never had the chance to thank that person for saving his life before he disappeared deeper into the city, could he even be trusted? Wilson learned something that morning, he stopped trusting big cities, they were just too dangerous. The risks were too high. He decided to set up a home in an abandoned house a little west of Khelm, it wasn't a pretty place, but it was safe and it seemed to have the things he needed to survive. After many, many weeks of survival, running up and down the coast with supplies, helping where he could.. all the time experincing a vast amount of happy, emotional and tragic events.. one fateful day Wilson decided to climb a deerstand near to his home.. he'd use a hunting scope to lookout for survivors travelling through the town of Khelm, but it was this decision that cost him his life, he somehow fell from the ladder and died. RIP Wilson. Gone but never forgotten. Moral of the story.. sometimes it's not the players that are untrustworthy, it can be the game and it's quirks :(

Criticism believe it or not, makes games better. Not worse. If you are accepting of shit, then you shouldn't really expect to get nothing but shit in return.

Round me off to the nearest year and I'm 35. Gaming has always been a hobby of mine, the wife does "not get it".. unfortunately she's one of those people who think video games are for kids.

I feel for you Jex, it's been a LONG, epic wait.. a wait so long that were are STILL waiting after all these years. Rocket is laughing his ass off right now, he's left BIS and made a career from a mod. Some people (including myself) think he abandoned DayZ because he couldn't deliver what people wanted, what they expected.. he knew he couldn't and so got out with the legacy and some cash. Now he's got his own dev studio! not bad huh? Hell, I paid nothing for the mod back then, so I kinda see the SA as my way of paying them (Rocket and BIS) for them awesome experiences that we all enjoyed playing the mod, all them years ago. I'll always be thankful for that. I've resigned to the fact that DayZ SA will never be the mod, but will/can it be as good? I sure hope so! but I'll let ya know my opinion when the time comes, if it ever does. Is it good now, has it been at any point in the games dev so far? I'd have to say no, I've not enjoyed playing the DayZ SA at any time in Alpha (before anyone says but it's ALPHA.. Well I KNOW! and have done for years lol). Does it look as if it might become good one day? honestly, I have my doubts and that makes me really sad and salty, to the point I wanna be critical, the game and its progress is making me feel that way. That being said, sometimes I read a status report and something in there piques my interest, pulls me back toward the hope, so hears to hoping. My fingers are crossed anyways, even though they are by default crossed from becoming arthritic from all these years of keeping them like that haha. I just wanna experience this game in a finished state, or rather as it's intended like I'm sure sooo many other people do, Jex included. Massive respect and congratulations to all the players here who are more than happy to have waited all this time. Who have the ability to stay cool and ride the waves. I only hope we all get what we want one day and that we enjoy a finished DayZ, whenever that time comes.

Rust has penises, so we know by default they aint afraid to show anything. DayZ > Rust = Moot.

I don't really put much effort into ingesting SR's, I have to apologize for that in some ways but also be truthful.. I have always tended to find them rather repetative, like a sort of groundhog day come roundabout kinda experience, beating around the bush stuff.. filler to keep people playing and hoping, but for some reason this one seems to have rang some bells, even got me a little excited! Must be the pictures? or more like the honesty I took from it. Oh and this little nugget.. "Instead of focusing on systems and technology, we are finally making a game." I just may be starting to see some light in this extra long tunnel. I never thought I'd say that! So Thanks! Gotta say too.. it's got me rather looking forward to the next one now ;)

Why it is harder and harder to have interactions ?
[Gen]Adzic replied to Mantasisg's topic in General Discussion
The grab of PvP in DayZ has almost always been tied to loot, and the permadeath feeling players get from the "You are dead screen".. everyone wants to take or ruin someone else's time they spent gearing up and just as his fellow survivors wish to stay alive. Trusting others in DayZ is the hardest part of DayZ, the game is only made difficult and challenging because of others, fear of the unknown. 99% of player interaction I've ever had in DayZ has resulted in one of us dying at some point, whether it's been in an instant (KOS) or after establishing a fake trust. They get you when your backs turned, or you get them first. The other 1% has been meeting actual real friends ingame, unfortunately they all left after the SA was revealed/released and the mod started to die. I trust nobody in this game and in all likelihood never will, I am destined to be a kill or be killed type of player. You can blame the many, many players in the past who KOS for me becoming like that. -
Only 8 months ey? I'm throtthing at the mouth.. like an infected. Mad to think a human being can go from a fertilized egg to a baby in virtually that amount of time.

I feel ya, They aint gonna set themselves up for more missed targets. Expect tight lipped-ness. I expect nothing anymore, in fact not since I got all hot under the collar for them early milestone goals that never came to fruition, so I'm not about to step on them hot coals again. Don't get me wrong, Thanks for the SR's, taking the time to inform us on reasons why we continue to wait, which to be frank are only really useful and enjoyable for those of us who are capable and willing to wait even longer for DayZ to actually become DayZ again.. but I'm not gonna lie and sugar coat it, they in some ways annoy the hell outta me! I just want the game to be finished! I just want to enjoy it as I once did.. It's been/being a monumental wait, I can only apologize for my (can't really say impatient when it's been such a LONG time) inability to play a buggy unfinished game and therefore subsequent posts on this forum. Call me a jerk, a killjoy.. ungrateful.. selfish.. whatever, who in the hell said time was a healer? Man, I really wish I had half of the tenacity of some of you guys.. True fans. One I hope to be again one day.

Sod the ironing.. I'd bloodstain it for added authenticity :)

Why does it still feel like im 'driving' a tank, instead of a dude wearing a t-shirt.
[Gen]Adzic replied to stilton's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, well.. some of us who have also been here from the start, are just waiting for the train to arrive at that rosey platform.. sadly not all passengers have the same temperament nor personalities as the man who waits beside him. I think that's also lost on people here, especially the ones who don't mind slow trains, I mean.. as long as it arrives at the destination at some point, right? -
Whoever told you DayZ would run fine with any GPU was blowing smoke up your ass. A GT630 is not a good card for today's standards, it'll probably work but don't expect miracles, I'd say getting 17/18 is actually quite good. I have a GTX 970 and see frames in cities easily drop as low as that. More to the point, What processor do you have?

A Few Thoughts on.. Bugfixing, Priorities, and Beta
[Gen]Adzic replied to Hicks_206 (DayZ)'s topic in News & Announcements
Scrap running and looking after 2-3 versions of the game and focus on just one, maybe that will speed things up. Stable/Exp.. is probably slowing you guys down. -
Are you concerned about Steam reviews?
[Gen]Adzic replied to Just Caused's topic in General Discussion
I've been straight up and honest to people I've spoken to about DayZ, I've said the game is being developed and that they should wait until the game is finished before they buy it.. why? because I'd hate for them to spend their money on something they wouldn't like, which would not only give the game a bad name but in all likelihood since I suggested it.. also me! I fell into the Early Access trap since I played the mod and I loved it, it's honestly one of the best games I've ever played and not only that I got the game relatively cheap since I bought it way back then.. I've not left any review for DayZ SA as I think it's wrong to judge an unfinished book by it's cover, but if I was asked to leave one right here right now, it wouldn't be good one.. given the current state of the game and how long it's been since I got the game. Maybe I'm impatient in the eyes of others, maybe I don't even fully understand what early access is and I'm the wrong sort of person to impulse buy a game like DayZ SA, but I have it and I've certainly had my say. I now look forward to the day it's deemed finished (whenever that is) so I can enjoy the game once more, I'm also not a fool.. I'll never get the mod feels back, I know that but as long as the game ends up being good, then I'll be sure and more than willing to give it a good review. People have different feelings and as such take different actions. We have no power over what other people think and ultimately go ahead and do.. unfortunately lol. -
Are you concerned about Steam reviews?
[Gen]Adzic replied to Just Caused's topic in General Discussion
Think about it, preferably unbiased(ly).. Would they leave negative/troll reviews if they enjoyed the experience? when they are playing/played a broken, unfinished game (for X amount of time) how many people do you logically expect to leave positive reviews? Will they harm the game, should they (BI) be concerned, absolutely, bad rep is bad rep.. but this is the path they chose to take the game in. Perhaps if they could disable the steam review system until the game is complete it would be a different story, but who can say? Even though Early Access is a few years old now, it's still gonna be a relatively new experience for a lot of gamers, personally I don't think it's a good way to release games, to much of a risk. -
Will the new Infected Spawn mechanic add more zombies?
[Gen]Adzic replied to kumando's topic in General Discussion
So, is sitting on a hill somewhere safe just far enough away from a town waiting for Zeds to spawn in to know a player is down there.. coming back? I thought they didn't want that, were even adamant about it? -
Excellent article by Eurogamer - Must read
[Gen]Adzic replied to QUAZIMOFO's topic in General Discussion
People inflate numbers all the time. Just look at the value of the GBP since we left the EU, I reckon someone somewhere would like to inflate them numbers too haha! -
Actually I've been a jerk.. the stuff I said was silly and unwarranted. 3+ years into a supposed 5 year dev cycle? maybe I've been premature and should have listened to Rocket when he said don't jump on the hype train that early. My problem was DayZ rocked, I spent too much of my life playing the mod and I might have wanted in, the price was fairly low.. What the heck.. Lets just wait a few more years and then maybe those views I had a few hours ago will be relevant and tolerable, that is if the game is still crap. I just hope not, this roundabout has span around a few too many times for my liking.. makes me grumpy and as a 34 y/o.. immature.
