What do you want on a DayZ server?

I would love to see a populated server that doesn't have 8 barracks sitting on the Elektro docks.

    Reason behind your username?

On one of my favorate DayZ servers, there was a clan called RZR. They went around acting as police, but after they shot me my friend and I made it our mission to disrupt their operations as much as possible. I was going to change my name since I wanted to remain mysterious, specifically thinking of using an alias. After 20 minutes of name-storming, I couldn't come up with anything. So I just went with "Alias". "Mias" is my characters last name in Eve.

    Some Info I Need

It could be rather dangerous for him to go looking if there are indeed key-stealing single player versions of the mod. That said, I know of one version that is single player only. http://kodabar.blogspot.com.au/2012/05/dayz-offline-single-player-practice.html It's called Daizy, and its basically single player DayZ, complete with AI survivors and bandits.I really recommend you try the real thing though, since the bots can never act quite like a real person would.

    Hackers, have you seen them?

I think they've just gotten bored. With more and more people moving to private hives there's less people to be trolling. It seems the general consensus is that KOS is the new scourge of DayZ. And when goo0gle says "children from Call Of Duty who make the KOS", I think of a group of midget witches brewing up some evil plague called KOS.

    Execution

Nothing like COD. What I envisioned was a slo-mo of a guy stretching out his arm with a revolver in his hand, putting it to the other guys head and pulling the trigger, all from a 3rd person perspective. It would be cool, but if you accidentally got a headshot and this triggered when you didn't want it to, you wouldn't be happy if you got shot halfway through it. I suppose it could work if it was limited to pistols but still.

    Let's discuss this idea

I really don't understand how it will. When the standalone is released all combat logging should be prevented, and if people are rage quitting over dying its their own problem. The point of this idea is to increase the value of life. Think about it, people KOS right now because there's no reason to have them around. There's no real benefit to keeping someone alive, other than the social interaction but that's not enough for some people. This idea gives a reason to make new friends, the fact is that in a real apocalypse everyone would be good at something, and making friends with particular skills would make life a whole lot easier for people.

    Let's discuss this idea

I'm going to copy and paste something I wrote in another thread a few hours ago. This is the system that I think could end some of the KOS behaviour. There is another way. I remember seeing a post somewhere about giving players skills. For example, a player could bandage so many people his medical skill levelled up, he could now bandage faster or get 2 uses out of 1 bandage or something. If someone repaired a lot of vehicles, their mechanical skill would level up, and they would now be able to take parts off of some vehicles and put them on others. However, the thing about these skills is that when you die, their all gone. Your character gets completely reset. This would increase the value of life as well as encourage people to group up with others who have valuable skills. Since killing them would erase their skills, it would be beneficial to keep them around, as least until your skills level. Nothing overpowered, like being able to blood bag 12 times with 1 bag. It would be limited of course, but I think it would work.

    what happen to heroes?

So basically he cheats the humanity system by getting his friend to play as a hero for a while, then taking that hero and playing him as a bandit. Also, no one has ever said that the entire game needs to be a bunch of people blood bagging each other. This game doesn't need Heroes, but it does need bandits. It would be incredibly boring without them. Some people just prefer to play Hero. Back on topic. The humanity system is flawed, but without a proper way to detect "self defence" kills there's not much that can be done about it. Maybe something will change in the standalone.

    Flare Gun

This would be cool, especially if it attracted a LOT of zombies. I can definitely see people signalling helicopters in the middle of a night, and having a sort of last-stand on a rooftop while they wait for it to land.

    Death by concrete!

Real men don't jump, real men throw themselves in the direction they want to travel.

37 day old char + sunrise moment = death

I don't go on those cranes unless I absolutely have to. My character has enough trouble keeping his footing on a hospital roof let alone those fragile scaffoldings.
  13. He's still a terrific player, hacks or not. One of his Panthera videos showed him spotting a player that would have been nothing more than a pixel on my screen. It's those little things that give you the edge.

I have 2 things to say

Anyone here ever Moderated a Minecraft server? It really is mind-numbing how many times someone blames their friend or sibling when they get caught for griefing/x-raying.

    My Tale of Friendship...

True, but I feel that for every good person there's about 7 asshats to balance it out. A perfect example is the pair of survivors that started out friendly, then began shooting at me while yelling "YOU WILL LOOSE YOUR HERO SKIN OR DIE!". The objective here being to force me to lose my Hero skin by killing them. That said, I think there are people out there that want to play like a hero, but lack the equipment/determination to get that equipment. This is a nice story though, these are the sort of situations that I think of when I think DayZ.
  16. Hacks. If they destroyed, the forums would be ablaze with hackusations.
  17. How large is this bandit group you mentioned in another forum post? My friend and I find DayZ to be more fun when were against another group. Last time this happened, though, it was a pretty big group. Big enough for them to control half of the map and run regular patrols. It was a conflict between 2 clans and we were in the thick of it. Twas amazing.
  18. I encountered a bug the other day when I was hit by a zombie as a fresh spawn. I was given the option to self bloodbag even though I didn't have one on me. I tried it and it restored by blood as well as giving me an infection. I was a new spawn so it didn't really matter, but I thought you should know.
  19. I feel it necessary to inform you of Sacriel and Stoney's inevitable victory. *Cheer*
  20. Hopefully I actually get to watch this one. Work always seems to line up with it :/
