yea, but itd be kinda cool, at least it would make the escaping zeds feel like more of a desperate struggle then the standard run which looks like its been mapped over a stick man. this look familiar? I know tis not possible yet, and really the animations are not a problem at the moment what so ever, so much more needs to be done first. It would be cool though if there was some basic free running/climbing

Thought this woulda managed to slip its way in sooner +1 OP

Basically have jerry cans and water bottles fill up in partitions. ie the both fill up in sections. This would: For Jerry Cans. Enable the siphoning of fuel from vehicles, either from your own to transfer to others or for security/sabotage. Or from wrote-off vehicles along the same lines of suggestions for stripping car wrecks for parts. For Water Bottles. Enables Gulps, so that water bottles could be shared (in what survival scenario do you see peeps downing entire bottles of water), as well as enabling them to be filled by rain, over time, by partition. Yea or Meh?

Petition to Partition Jerry Cans and Water Bottles.

Well i guess that is a plausible predicament, you couldnt :) And yes its pretty reasonable for the moment, but tbh i think this is much better, that exchange can only take place at water sources anyway, this makes sense for the sakes of group survival anyways. Not to mention its a similiar mechanic that could be utilized for the Jerry cans. -
Indeed, maybe the word parkour is a lil excessive in terms of the initial images it conjures up. indeed, i like the idea of someone being chased into a building, which is increasingly gutting packed with zombies, and them desperately crawling out of the window onto the roof or clambering for the drain pipe. Itd be cool if spawning situations were like this, were you were put through an initial high tension situation to desperately scramble out of. this is written from a perspective wishing for the following thread to be taken seriously, which probably will be XD http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/20112-the-only-realistic-way-to-prevent-deathmatching-make-dayz-a-living-hell/

:( Im afraid im not a computer poet and am not versed with ze modification of gaming engines, but is it completely out of the realm of the arma 2 engine?
-
err, yes?

Well, if i was being chased by a cannibal (for the sake of realism) I would still try and climb over a fence., or say, scale up to a balcony, via a tree?

Petition to Partition Jerry Cans and Water Bottles.

Yea probably, but if there is only one or two canteens in a group that are far from a water source, or the approach to the closest one is too risky, then it would be v useful. Like i said before, do you see a cooperative survival scenario in which peeps dont share their water? -
I realised I had a rant on your other thread, that I really wanted to expand and lay out, but would be too long an awkward to do especially without heavily quoting your discussions. So ive moved one of the ideas over to this thread. If one of the potential 'electricity objectives' was, the radar in the AC tower, then could it not be deconstructed/occupied and used by a group to monitor the mist. Dont think its too much of a stretch in imagination given AC towers monitor the weather anyway. (not to mention this deserves a bump :)

I do like the original idea because it gives an incentive for groups to stay stuck together, whilst potentially developing non punishing PvP interaction mechanics. But i dont think there should be any kind of punishment for bandits who choose a grim path. Bandit who ruthlessly kills develops resistance to familiarity. Bandits who are in a groups(ie who have accumulated familiairty), dont have as much resistance to it but still far more than a new survivor or friendly group. So far tbh i dont see any significant problems in this yet. But im sure theres plenty of other scenarios that are worth playing with
-
:S Dunno about that, theres already enough discussions from peeps wanting to shoot from vehicles. Can you imagine the first person glares that would occur on that train, when a PvP chasing scenario takes a route via the railway? Just feels out of place that in an apocalyptic world, theres still a 24/7 free railway service? Edit: There isnt even one now!! +1 for groups taking control of trains/railway lines.
-
Actually, heres a thought (for infiltrating scenario), the rate of familiarity strengthening could be dictated by how many murders a player has accumulated. So as an example, a bandit group with strong familiarity with one another but high murders chooses to infilitrate another group. If successful their "resistance to familiarity" is dictated by the murders and is much higher than new survivors/bandit-hunter, but will still increase the longer they spend in that groups company.

you know peeps will start leaving tank traps on the rails though XD

yeeea I remember seeing a thread about that, that would be cool. But tbh I think if that was done it would be the basics features to a more advanced take over. I know what ye are saying, theres plenty of suggestions which are no where near your first thought as apocalyptic survivor. But I always think of this game from a point of view that its building towards enabling organised groups being able to settle on the server. If this was gonna work effectively, it would require a multitude of ways of interacting with the environment and would also require enough tasks/objectives ranging in complexity to satisfy solesurvivors/lonewolves to small groups to large organised clans. Trains could easily be one of these.
-
and break a limb in the process! atm you can break a limb getting into a tent and even turning around in a corridor. Not saying that these are not obviously bugs that need fixing, the point is this game kinda strives for realism and jumping on a moving train is fucking dangerous. Why is the train constantly moving? Why dont peeps ride it all the way out the map to safety? Whats to stop setting up camp on a train and killing off peeps who jump on? How fast is it actually going that you can safely jump onto it, that you cant run the distance yourself, seeing as train lines have limitations when it comes to directions? I just feel any kind of large scale activity outside of hordes of zombies has to be purely player driven and created.
-
they dont have to move fast to crush you :S id like to see someone say they can stop a cargo train moving at ANY speed its travelling.
-
or as another example, if an infiltrator who youve already been around for a while, reveals themselves throughout whatever scenario, forcing your hand. i see what ye mean about whatever killing scenario you find yourself in is gonna dampen your morale a bit. But peeps irl do normalise themselves to it.
-
i quite like the idea. especially as the unmerciful bandits wont be affected so cant see why they would complain either. only problem i see potentially is if someone has intentionally infiltrated a group to screw them over. I guess you could say that irl an infiltrator to a group might start warming to them slightly but it would still be at a different rate. I dunno, i like the ideas here though.

Would you guys love the Leaderboard back?
3rdparty replied to Sethen's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think you should have your own personal profile to look at your stats and attempts. But not the leaderboard. Too many peeps in game trying to get on it, just promotes leeroy enfield mountain trolls. -
:S sooo the train is moving continuously, without an "in game" driver, AI or not. Without refueling, or making pit stops? noooo sorry, seeing as its a game based around surviving, trying to jump onto a moving train sounds more dangerous the jumping off one.
-
XD i do like the idea of trains, i just dont like any AI elements beyond animals and zeds. Itd be cool if it were there were trains that could be fixed/operated. I started a thread about coal mines http://dayzmod.com/f...ds/#entry313538 which was spun off another thread on electricity grids, seeing it as a less efficient energy source for smaller groups looking to establish an area on a server which is more dominated by larger clans (ie using the more efficient energy sources) But as I posted ze thread, started discussing the idea with someone of using the coal on a train too, which could be positioned in a town train station near by. Regardless, i think any extra features developed in this game have to be NPC redundant, and focused on player/group activities/operations/constructions.

Seen threads discussing the idea of fixing up power plants, using electricity, and ultimately suggestions have led towards powering up/fixing a train. An AI train though? Surely all the survivors wanna go to moscow where its safe not jump off back into the apocalypse. Not to mention that thing would be a bullet magnet once peeps start figuring out its mechanics and cycles. .. Im sure the Rocket Vanguard will be eagerly sharpening their tongues right about now.
