    meh, dunno about that, fixing down what you can do, when, beyond any logical constraints (ie you cant drive the bloody car cause its dark, you got no NVG and the lights are broken! dunno if the lights can even break :S) wouldnt go down well with ze core of this community, and i wouldnt disagree with em either. I can see how through that system you could guarantee such and such a group has control over such n such an industry and within your group feel comforted/secure with knowing you have control. But it hasnt got that freedom and unpredictability to it that is a wonderful aspect of the game, and so i dont think that mechanic would fly very far.

    Actually another idea, water treatment plant. Ive seen many threads (trying to find a well developed one) discussing water contamination/ increased likelihood of catching an illness from using the water sources on the map (ponds having a higher chance of infection then pumps) If this was introduced, and was developed in such a way that it became an important factor to carefully structuring your gameplay, then a water treatment facility could be another plausible area of interest.

    I guess I see your concern, giving a scenario, a group (a laarge group) could lock down say cherno, electro. Make it their own, pack it with the fruits of their hauling all over the map. Then server hop into cherno kitted out. But tbh, i dont think this would be entirely a disaster. One thread i really like that im sure most ze frequent users have seen rebumped and have probably dabbled through is this http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/20112-the-only-realistic-way-to-prevent-deathmatching-make-dayz-a-living-hell/ (The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell) If this was made much harder, it might be potentially very dangerous for even a large group to spawn into a town that hasnt been cleared out. Also If cherno hasnt been occupied, it might be an indication that large groups are not dominant/present on the server, or at least no groups as large and bold enough to attempt such a server hop. In which case I (currently) dont see much of a problem with it. Im sure there are other scenarios that need to be played around with/discussed to gleam out flaws with the idea though.

    XD i believe were on the same page IF the activities are balanced precisely, some of the areas of interest may simply not be in a large clans interest (even though it is within their ability) giving an extra chance for smaller groups to set up on a highly dominated server.

    I reckon this is a good idea, but alot would have to be developed, alot of different tree models not to mention defo introducing camo netting before this was implemented.

    The idea of controlling all areas of interest, all towns and all routes is the true logistical nightmare and should be close to impossible, so as to create different groups with different agendas or ideas for playing the game, which will i feel create the fertile ground for very interesting PvP.

    Mmmaybe, i dunno though, if the payoff reward of the facility is high enough then I think it might be still desirable. The balance comes in matching activities and facilities to different groups. So for example the electric grid idea might be a logistical nightmare but still very much possible for a large organised group, whilst controlling the garage for example might be possible for smaller ones. I see what ye mean about the negatives of the portable generator, and the potential fools errand of dragging one into town and turning it on. I fell that extending on the traps is, at least, the most plausible (or i should say agreeable) solution. Creating traps that would take long periods of time to identify or dismantle might help balance out peeps worries about their fortifications and bases.

    Indeed, tis a problem that I have been thinking of myself and have not really thought of a solution without producing a less then pretty facial expression. However i dunno if ye have come across this thread http://dayzmod.com/f...sting-feedback/ but there may be some potential in this as a system for managing peeps control over an area, at least i see a potential in there for refining a mechanic to solve this dilemma. Otherwise i feel that if a group isnt big enough, it probably shouldnt be able to control the industry 24/7 anyway. But it is an interesting problem ye raise. But i think the problem is definitely linked into the same security concerns peeps have raised for when theyre offline from the basic permafixtures already ingame. Maybe the actual solution is massively extend the sandbox activities and creative capacity for traps.

  14. err yes +! (and i meant !) I think this is a great idea matey, more ideas/discussions on group activities/objectives/basebuilding/environment manipulation needs to occur on this forum. Activities like this are clearly not suited for lone wolves which is good because there should be a whole host of interactive/customizable environments/objects suited for lone wolves to small groups to large clans. +1

    Hmm, you seem to of drawn me into the idea with fishing pole adaptation XD Although steel bolts would have to be changed to wooden ones so that they could be used in both (seeing as so much other ammo is interchangeable).. plus yea they would need a quiver. But i dont mind the idea, the more items they throw in to play around with the better. (as long as theyre keeping with the environment of course XD)

    EDIT: for the sake of peeps who think i mean changing this into a gritty looking version of Mirrors edge (OR ASSASSINS CREED SEEING AS THAT IS WHAT EVERYONE IS MAKING COMPARISONS TOO!), i mean basic free running skills, (or basic desires to escape and live!) Obviously not possible now, but when its a standalone or (sigh) if a new engine has to be built, id love to see more dynamics environments where people scramble up rockfaces trees and buildings desperately trying to escape zeds. Itd be cool to develop dynamic new spawns too, where (for example) peeps spawn inside boarded up buildings surrounded by zeds and have to figure a way out to start off XD Yea or meh?

    Maybe not but given high adrenaline survival situations, i bet most people would make a fecking good attempt at it. Anyone who didnt are probably the peeps that get paralysed by adrenaline and im sure most of them would of been eaten/chasing you now.

    YEaa thats not quite what i was thinking but it certainly making steps in the right direction, especially using your environment more efficiently. But again this feels like animations the better suit Arma scenarios, as much as I like all of them and theyd work in DAyZ, it needs something more.

    +1 machete! Although i dunno how they are working the melee system, as so far the axe can be used for cutting wood and i wouldnt be surprised if they figure some use for ze crowbar. Not to mention the knife clearly needs to go in secondary XD

    I think the endgame has to be actual objectives on ze map that groups can manipulate/customize and take control over. as an example: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/5716-power-plants-electric-grid-and-generators-v-33/ If you have a whole host of "objectives" or essentially areas of the map that can be controlled and utilized for various reasons, then ye have a state where multiple groups could be fighting, cooperating over these areas of interest. So one group might control the radio towers for example, or another could control the railways (if trains were introduced), how they interacted depends on their experience of each other, what they have to offer and what they seek to gain. If the map is large enough with a huge variety of these types of objectives which satisfy lone wolves to small groups to large established clans. Then ye could create an environment which is incredibly hard to fully dominate and instead becomes a ground for which different areas are constantly fought for or negotiated.

    perma death +1 sooorrrryyyy, even with a tent set up ive become far more relaxed towards dying. And the fear of dying and losing all your stuff is a vital aspect of ze game.
  23. Also this isnt an attack on your idea matey, i know how bitter and aggressive this community can be. Just wait for some of the more leather skinned rocket vanguard to creep outta the woodwork, they love to eat threads like this.
  24. In this community, realism is for peeps who are sick with the standard repetitive format of games, which is what i feel aspects of this suggestion is. Atms can be powered the same way flashlights work?? By batteries??? Tbh I think if your throwing realism out the window, then theres no point in even pondering how they would work. Peeps already have the incentive to move to different loot spawns, different items, I didnt even realize it was a problem. And it is still based on a (kind of) upgrading system, maybe not experience, but your accumulating money (XP/Creds/Mana/Dead Pixies) to unlock different types of items. I think if you put this in, we would get another pattern of threads asking for the crowbar to prize it open. Which im all in for. Just not the money/unlocking better items stoooff.
