  1. You really hit the nail on the head here. Duck hunting and winter sports are big where I live, and I see guys walking home after shooting wearing harnesses that look exactly like SMERSH vests, bag and all. There's a mess of good hunting equipment that would be as good or better than military gear, being that it's produced at a premium instead of by the lowest bidder. Expensive snowboarding jackets, helmets, etc. need more love too. Also, the sawed-off shotgun seems like it would be too wide for the chest holster, but the B95 and IZH18 would fit alright.
  2. Being able to choose your features to make your character look like yourself or whoever you want is important. It keeps you invested in a character emotionally (however minor). I completely get the motivation, but this may be too ingrained to be an option. As far as 'character types', I also think it's reasonable idea, but as a matter of soft skills. Each character gets 1-3(?) skills that develop slightly faster than the others do, but they don't start out any better than the rest and you have no way of knowing which one you have an aptitude for. This way, you won't have players pressing F11 until they get a spawn with the skills they want, they have to practice first.

    The idea of 'loot thresholds' is very clever! Organically encourage players to populate servers as well as control hoarding? 55gal drum of beans for you.
  4. I'd like the DayZ equivalent of vendor trash guns in civilian areas, especially farmland. Old dinged-up service revolvers, heirloom shotguns that have been sitting in a barn, and the saddest old corroded guns you've ever seen. They could fall apart after three rounds, be completely non-functional, or disintegrate in your hand. Guns that were produced in a long-gone local gunsmith that don't even have names. If Chernarus is going to be as severe an environment as I hope, a broken gun with wooden bullets is still useful. I guess we could also melt them down if we had to, as well.

    Have the devs talked about electricity? I'd definitely be interested in hearing about that. But I see issues with a currency standard (electricity/hour) that's based in a completely different currency (fuel).

    I'm aware, but post-event our priorities are different. We got knocked back to the era of man where we just stopped being nomads and started farming. We don't have the tools, time, or energy to devote to anything that isn't food/water/shelter/clothes/medicine/safety. I don't see anyone soldering their own computer hardware in that scenario. Things like bullets, nails, canned food, or leather are universally valuable.

    How much value does gold actually have to a survivor? Can't eat it, can't make anything useful from it. How do you intend to hold bounty contracts? Or provide proof of your target's death? We aren't getting NPCs. This just seems like something best left to the mods, after release.
  8. Came into this thread ready for sillyness, but I actually like this idea. Marking locations, distracting zombies, and blinding people would make a laser (and the batteries it uses) very useful. I like the multiple uses it has. Laser beams show up in NVGs, don't they? Better be quick if you're going to be blinding someone in the dark with them, lest they use it to find you.

  11. Infection isn't the same as the zombie virus/whateverthefuck. I don't see it as being related, it's a normal infected wound from being bitten and scratched by a filthy undead. If there's a disguise or Zed Repel it needs to take another form and be difficult to get. Your suggestion would have people seeking out viral zombies, letting them infect, and running to things like heli crashes, etc. with impunity.
