I think you're missing the point. I'm not talking about ruined guns. I'm talking about finding junk and knick-knacks that you could use to fool people into thinking you're armed when it's hard to find real working guns. Create opportunities in a dire situation by being clever.

Concealable Holsters for Jeans and Cargo Pants?

It's novel, but the EFA-2 holster isn't really concealable. It's outside the belt, and while shorter than the Mak's slide, it sticks out quite a bit. It wouldn't give you any real advantage in-game, but the flavor is cool and if we finally get some proper belt holsters I want it included, too. -
Can't wait for beards. Been waiting since they were part of the original character concepts. I started growing mine after I took a job working in an industrial freezer (aerospace business), it keeps my face warm better than any clothing I've ever worn, and haven't chapped my lips once. Tough to drink coffee, though. I want beards to be the Tomogachi of DayZ. The unshaven shape is determined by how you mess with it (basically random), and the hair color is a mishmash of genetics. My beard is a bit more blonde than my head, with red and black hairs mixed in. You'll just have to live long enough to see what you got.

I've been pushing a ticket on the Feedback Tracker for more hunting clothes for a little while now. (0019761, shameless plug. Mostly about how we can stop military loot's monopoly on top-tier gear.) We could really use some civilian camouflage.

Jars are a good idea. Would also like lighters, reams of paper, cardboard boxes, scissors, magnifying glass, and twine. A 'kiss the cook' apron? -
If we're getting this deep into first aid, I'd like a system similar to MGS3: Snake Eater's. The menu could even be built into the vizualizer in your inventory menu. Press a button, and the image shifts like an x-ray scan to reveal the different injuries in various locations on your body. Drag and drop supplies on the individual afflictions. We could do with multiple sized kits, too. 2-slot for simple things like small bandages, the current 4-slot for a basic kit, and a larger 6 slot you might find with EMT members, hospitals, or ambulances. The complexity is good, I think. Nice suggestion.

To really get it right, they would have to make a second weapon condition stat from Clean - Dirty. Part damage has to be separate from how dirty your weapon is. -
That's an interesting find. I've never seen a map of the whole region before. I remember talk of stitching on one of the mod's island maps to Chernarus+ a long time ago, though this is really something else. Might just be a cool fluff item for now, putting together such an enormous map is gutsy to say the least.

Making grips a modular item seems... Unnecessary. I would much rather see several variations of the Makarov, each with different grips. Why not the PM, PMM, PB, and a long-barreled version? And that 80-round Mak drum. I want that. -
I'm all for the TT being added, surplus guns are awesome. It's got quite a bark, though. Don't use it in the city.

They'll need to figure out their control scheme first before I put something over my eyes. It needs to be simplified pretty badly, especially emotes.

If you were to add a sleep requirement, I think you could do it a couple different ways: 1. If you log out without using a bed or a bedroll, you 'wake up' next time you play with a debuff that affects your stamina or movement speed that lasts until you log out in a bed again. It shouldn't keep you from playing, just make it more difficult. 2. Each character has a new Sleep stat that acts like a timer. After you've been awake for X hours of game time, you get the sleepy debuff, as described above. Any time in-game, you can take a 30-60 second nap (maybe something you can interrupt at any time) that reduces your sleepiness for however long you rest. This short sleep gives an opportunity for dream visualizations, and could even tie in to some kind of sanity; the more people you kill or damage you take, the more paranoid and restless you get. You could even jolt awake because of nightmares or sounds you think you hear nearby. Alternatively, sleeping in a building you've barricaded and decorated to your liking should increase the effectiveness of your sleep.

Suppressor for the Mosin and Other High-Caliber Rifles?

54r is a big fat supersonic round. If you were able to find a custom-manufactured suppressor large enough to eat the gasses and managed to retrofit your Mosin to take it, it would still be loud as hell. It would help hide your muzzle flash, though. -
Oh lord, that MASKA visor is ridiculous. Gotta put that in. It would be perfect for painting a scary face on.

I stand corrected. I've never actually taken apart a lever action rifle before, but looking at a assembly schematic of the Rossi 92 the tube isn't threaded, the only thing you would need to do after cutting the magazine tube, spring, and barrel would be to drill a hole for the magazine cap screw and move the barrel band back with a screwdriver. They were talking about sawing off the B95, which would be cool. There's no real reason why you wouldn't be able to keep a PU on your obrez, but with an 8" barrel... Its smaller effective range doesn't really warrant it. Also, you can't saw the barrel off of a repeater. All your ammunition would fall out the front of the tube magazine. -

I'm trying to find the post, I think it was Chris Torchia that mentioned that they will be able to not only spawn guns with magazines in them soon, but mixed modular bits like stocks and handguards. Maybe it was a tweet? -
So I log out on Server A. Character goes to sleep. I log into Server B and go about my business. While asleep on Server A, someone runs by and steals my bag. What happens to my character on Server B?

Why snipers aren't going away

Didn't have much time to post earlier. You're right about the range, but 'sniping' (the poaching of men) doesn't have to be at crazy long ranges. Any rifle can be a sniper's rifle. The M4A1 has a max effective range of 500-600m, and the Mosin 9130 is about 600m with only slightly lower FPS. (For additional comparison, the AK-74 also has a max effective range of 500m.) You could argue either way, but I'd stick with the bigger bullet, a more accurate action, less moving parts, and the Mosin also doubles as a spear, a club/walking stick, and firewood. :D -
Implementing classes would be a mistake. Allowing players to know what they're good at right off is a mistake. I think adding soft skills is the way to go (Fix up your car, mechanical skill goes up a tiny amount, work a little faster than before, or whatever the advantage will be), with a couple stipulations: - The skills are invisible. No numbers, no names, no +1 skill messages. - Everyone starts at zero across the board. No F11'ing to get the skillset you want, have to figure it out through practice. - No gun skills. You do the shooting yourself. We aren't soldiers. - A couple (1-3, depending on total number) skills increase a little faster than the rest, for the things you happen to be naturally good at. We still start with nothing, and the longer you survive, the more valuable you are. Gotta keep things difficult.
