your going to hate me :) logged into the 1.8.6.1 official server the other night - found two in an hour. before that not seen them spawn since they were added to the dev build, that's about four months of looking... and you wrong about the spawn chance ;)

should herbal tea destroy the water bottle when drunk?

water from wells is only 100% safe if you use a tin can to drink straight from the well. water bottle has something like 30% chance of infecting if it has not been boiled.

There is a tent where I said with pickaxe, hammers, metal sheets and the build manuals. Also a few other bits, food and water. There are rocks and pump near by + easy access to cherno for more axe. I got carried a way earlier and finished the base, but you welcome to add to it or smash bits off. With the changes to nails its much easier to get the base bits but keeping your self supplied is still no small undertaking. only gripe so far is the snapping point on the gates is about 18 inchs from the posts so you get a gap if you use it -

upgrading an m16a2 to m16a4 - I've seen aim sights for m14 but not m16, but I think I saw a cco that did not have a weapon listed(thought at the time it might have been for the cross bow). Is that what I need for the first m16 upgrade before adding the acog? -

On Kichilron's server I've start building a base on the hill overlooking cherno 062 124. There is a tent there with most of the bits needed to build or take down fences if folks want to have a play but you'll need your own axe. Could not find a padlock, only visited castles 4 times so far.... Disregard my comment about water bottles, found five after posting.... -

Temperature – feels better, weather has been quite bad while I've been on the test server but not unmanageable. Only had to make a fire twice to boost my heat levels before sneaking into towns to loot (night and day but in heavy rain). So long as I am moving there has been no problem keeping my heat in the safe area. Being in a building quickly helps restore heat. Not had any problems finding matches, wood or heat packs. Loot in general is a lot better with most items a lot easier to find, although some bits seem quite rare still like water bottles – not seen one so far. Alice packs might be a touch too common atm. Not been able to match the attachments I have been finding to a gun they fit on yet. New position for chem light is great! Makes playing at night a lot easier. -
was on uk2 - 1pp late last night and saw this, but only in the few buildings near Cap Golova where i spawned in...

I was and I did not know it was a server option, so no worries I was crouched jog, the Hele east site I went to spawned okay. I had been seeing this in earlier dev builds too with the chopper crash sites, a bit to often now to be random bug... -

Only run across a few minor niggels so far, yell if you want any bugged. Animations between weapon slot 1 & 3 and back not playing. going to 2 from 1 or 3 still plays. Infected did not spawn at hele crash west and infected camp until after I had left and was 50m's away. -
I get the impression that the DayZ community isn't into zombies

If I remember right it is only eastern and western cultures that see zombies as being dead, for others it means a being not under their own control. I've been playing the mod since the early days and I remember the last time they set the infection free. I see R4ZOR49's added it back in the latest patch notes. I wish luck with your battles with the infected by I think your fighting the wrong threat. -
I'm trying to gather the bits to test the gate atm, is ItemPadlock an industrial spawn? - edit ahha! they spawn at castles, just need to find one now Do you want the quarry/leg break issue in github?

Was nice to see a few more peps on the server today. Hydration – I was not aware that items carried had an effect on this, when i saw it the other day i had a jerry can on me. What I think I saw was I had drunk till the hud said I was full, but I think this is shown when thirst is less than 100 rather than when you are actual full. Today starting at grish with 0 hunger and thirst a ran the 4000 odd meters to gorka used about 300 water, drank to 0 thirst and picked up a jerry can then ran the 1000 meters to pol and used about 300 water again so all seems okay. Had an odd moment at the train near the quarry, z's managed to break my legs while I was looting the train. Now while testing dev builds on facoptere's server I had the z's break my legs twice within 6 meters of the same point....I was wondering if there is some iffy collisions around that point. If you think its worth a look lmk and i'll stick the location in a bug on github.

I was moving about quite rapidly and they did not seem to have a problem hitting, just lack of damage. :/ I know, just it felt different from what I am use to... After running(not sprint) 900m I was worried I was not going to get to the next town okay with the way it was dropping off. edit - forgot having the z's spawn at a greater range is much better, was moving into areas and seeing them already moving around made it feel a lot like the old days :thumbsup:

New action menu coming, cool. Ignore me on that point then :) I spawned in electro and headed into town without a melee weapon expecting to die or get hurt bad. Having to stop and use the menu to pickup stuff meant I was getting hit an awful amount of times and knocked down twice, backed out of town to check my health and saw I had only lost just over 1500 blood and (as far as I can tell) did not need pain killers. It makes stealth a bit pointless as rapid evasion is more effective – hence lack of challenge imo. Although the way it was before does seem a little hard for most folks. I know the z's have never been terribly effective but if im toe to toe with one I would expect to get the stuffing knocked out of me, rather than me going “lol” and head shoting it. With the old pain effect I would have to spray and pray to clear space to fall back before healing because accurate shooting just was not an option. Headed back into town to drink my full from well. By the time I'd run back to the barn just north of electro I had lost nearly a third of my water which seemed a bit high. Also soda cans did not give much back, I know most are a bit naff, but even ice tea and lemonade did not look to have much of an effect. Those two used to give back enough that you would see a change in the HUD. By the time I thought to look more closely, I could not find a single can of soda in Vybor or the airfield to check the values in the diary overlay... I will jump back in and have another look soon

just jumped in for a quick run about and... "- [Removed] - default pickup (weapon,magazine,bags) from action menu." ...eek! this ones gonna take some getting use to. edit - Had another quick blast – found it very hard to stay focused as its just not any challenge Temperature only an issue if you stand still – running in rain quickly warms you so no need of fire or heat packs Action menu for reload is still present – not being able to “just” pick up stuff and only being able to do it in the gear menu really feels like a step back Can no longer open a back pack on floor but can still pick it up. Z's are ineffective, I can stand in the middle of a group as they hit me and shoot each one in turn. They do so little damage + the current state of the pain effect makes them no issue at all Loss of hydration seems very high in some cases.

Noob question-Drinking water from ponds

drinking with tin can from pump or boiled bottle water is the only safe option, all others have a chance of infection... that been said there has been some changes to ponds to mark infected ones with dead bodies and z's. not sure if that just increase the chance or makes just makes unbodied ones safe. edit - ninjaed, must learn to type faster,,,,,,,, -

Development change log for 1.8.3 [New] loot spawn: Add lootpos in new POI (trains/ruins mainly). Where do these ruins spawn, in woods like the infected camps or out in the wildness at the edge of the map? I know the ruins at Kamyrna, and the odd one at Petrovka, but did not find much there, or does the "new POI" just refer to the trains where I've been finding lots of bits for building?

Its good to see a test server on this side of the pond, thanks for putting it up! Popped on this evening for a look at the new verson, would be nice if side chat was enabled, would have made saying hi a bit easier when you were on. Not sure if the launcher is doing odd things or somethings got messed up with the fresh install I did yesterday but keeps loading the wrong profile even after I changed it in game :/ ...o borrowed a red car that was at the airfield, left it south of vybor with nearly full tank of gas if any ones looking for it. -
Think its this one http://www.armatechsquad.com/ArmA2Class151656165165341654165165165165f/A2/Buildings/full/Land_HouseV_1I3.jpg cant say for sure if its this one or the other log cabin thats similar, but its the entrable one. backpacks had .40 spawn chance last time I checked the loot tables, and those three items do pop up a lot in it.

Small issue - I've been unable to pick up 5lt fuel cans when I find them
