What do I need to play?

http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/1808-guide-installation-guide-steam-retail-mixed-beta-common-errors/ EDIT: If you have more questions after reading all that, post them up. But that will give you most of what you need. :)

    Vanilla experience

Have you ever noticed that his avatar looks like a combination of James Hetfield and David Mustaine? Crazy huh?

    Vanilla experience

http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/152501-mustygaming-presents-actual-dayz-1803choffwpoff3don/#entry1527987 So far I'm having fun there. Always been a fan of (most of) the people playing on the servers.

Help on Surviving (Getting good gear, etc)

Are you playing vanilla DayZ or a mod of DayZ (e.g. Epoch)? Your strategy will probably be very different depending on what you're playing.
  5. I'll second the vote for Musty Gaming. Here's more info: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/130488-mustygaming-eu-us-aus-epoch1025veteranjsrsai-npcstowingheli-liftauto-refuelbandit-campshidden-treasuresextra-features300-vehicles/?hl=musty Introduce yourself on the forums: http://mustygaming.com/Forum/ Lots of good guys play on the AUS servers.

TMW (Trusted Medics of the Wasteland)

What's "nithing"? Is that a bad thing or a good thing?
  7. If it's like the other Musty servers, it locks a few minutes before a restart. The other ones are on a 2 hour restart schedule, not sure about this one. But generally, you just have to wait a few minutes after the top of the hour to get back on. Also, nice find on the gun. Would definitely be helpful if you get into a sticky situation.
  8. I believe just fewer guns. I managed to find a gun. A single gun. After searching an office building, a grocery store, a church, and two firestations. I still don't have a pistol. I spawned with 2 bandages and road flares. That's it. Took a good run through Elektro to get basic stuff, but I still need a knife. Also, there are so many zombies. I almost got myself cornered a couple times. This will be a bit tougher than what I'm used to I think.
  9. What time/timezone do you play? Do you have a particular server you play on?

    30 pieces of lead

Took me a second read to understand what was going on, but once I got it all straightened out, it was a good story.

    yet the recruting begin

Not a big fan of punctuation are you?

    Looking for Epoch Group Preferably.

Do, or do not? Pretty important distinction there. :)

Again, the key here is parody. Exaggeration for comedic effect.

    Best DayZ Video on Earth

Infinite anything can most certainly be described as an admin tool, as admin can spawn whatever they want. What is interesting is that the only people who view it as cheating are people who are not playing on the server. One would have to ask themselves why the people who are playing on the servers have nothing but good things to say, but a handful of people who do not use the server are the ones screaming "hax!!!!".

    Best DayZ Video on Earth

Again, you are speaking in circles. Do you refuse to play on any server that has an administrator? If no, then you are a hypocrite. Every admin for DayZ has the potential to cheat, yet most of them don't. This is no different. An admin can spawn a tank. That is a standard mechanism that could potentially be used to cheat. But I don't see you complaining about it. Ergo, I have to assume you have personal feelings against Musty and are trying to spin something innocuous into a "scandal" and proof of your personal feelings. I would encourage any user that doesn't hold a grudge against Musty to stop by the forums, servers, or Teamspeak. Ask around and see how the people feel about Musty. I am confident that you will be as happy with the community as I am.

    Best DayZ Video on Earth

One minor point of clarification: the point of the video has nothing to do with hacks. Some Musty members were discussing whether or not having night on a server leads to a population decline. The video was meant to poke a bit of fun and say that night doesn't cause issues as much as having a group of players (Cleanup Crew specifically) who will bandit and blow up anything that's capable of being blown up. Hence the reason they were pretending to kill a noob after pretending to be helpful, and crashing two helicopters into a shack. CC is known for, shall we say, a bit of overkill in the destruction department. Admin tools were used to further exaggerate the actions, which is what a parody is all about. Reference movies such as Airplane, Hot Shots, and Scary Movie.

    Best DayZ Video on Earth

Do you understand that basically every tool an administrator has available to them, on EVERY DAYZ SERVER, could potentially be used as a cheat? Yet you are only focusing on Musty. It is quite obvious that you have a vendetta and are simply arguing in circles. Whatever caused you to have such disdain, I don't know. But the fact that you're going out of your way to try to discredit Musty is a bit concerning.

    Best DayZ Video on Earth

What is the damage that a zombie can do in DayZ? Has that damage amount ever been changed? When it was changed, was that considered cheating? That is essentially what you are arguing. That by changing any variable in a game you are cheating. If a private server admin wanted to create a super zombie and give them higher than normal damage, would it be cheating if everyone who played on the server knew there were super zombies? No. Let's look at it another way. Was DayZ created to allow people to build a base? No. Is that a predominant feature of Epoch? Yes. Were the Epoch devs cheating? No, but according to your formula they were. No one but you would accuse them of cheating. It's all really simple. If you don't want to trust Musty admin, then don't. Don't play on the servers. Go play wherever you want. The fact is that anyone who wants a great DayZ experience can come to Musty and ask any number of current regular players how they feel about Musty administrators. I guarantee that they will get nothing but positive feedback. If someone reads this thread and automatically assumes Musty isn't a good place to be, without even trying to find the truth, then that's their problem.

1cheatverb \ˈchēt\: to break a rule or law usually to gain an advantage at something : to take something from (someone) by lying or breaking a rule : to prevent (someone) from having something that he or she deserves or was expecting to get No rules/laws were broken as all parties agreed to participate; no advantages were gained Nothing was taken from another player Noone was prevented from having something This was not cheating in the least.

    Best DayZ Video on Earth

I believe everyone fully understands your opinions on cheating, and I believe we all agree that there's no room for cheaters in Dayz. Here's the disconnect: no one was cheating in the video. Private server; participating "actors"; tools regularly available to admin. That is not cheating. It would be the equivalent of some kids playing basketball and filming themselves doing dunks on an adjustable rim that's been lowered. Can you have a 6 foot rim in the NBA? Of course not and no one would say you could. Can you have a 6 foot rim in your backyard with your friends so you can pretend you're Michael Jordan? Yes. It appears to me that you have a specific issue with Musty, which stems from something beyond this thread. In any case, I assume that you do not play DayZ. Any admin has the power to do these sort of things, and that's not limited to Musty admin. Any server you play on will have admins with the power to corrupt your game. The entire point that you are missing is that regular players from Musty are explaining that there have been no issues with admin abuse. This entire thread is basically a couple people trying to slander a community without having any evidence to back up their accusations.

Admins have limitless power by default. That's why they're administrators. You can't administer something without having control of it. They can spawn in 100 tanks. They can build an impenetrable fort. They can be invisible. They can be un-killable at any time. They don't need "hacks" to abuse their power. You are calling them out for no reason other than to start an argument. It is blatantly obvious that Musty admins do not abuse their power, shown by the various members all attesting to the fact. Regardless of what they do on private, locked servers, the public servers they administer are among the best for DayZ.

As a regular Musty player, I would like to state unequivocally that I have never experienced any admin abuse of any kind while playing on their servers, which includes taking part in admin events. The Musty servers are booming, which would not be the case if admin were running around with infinite ammo and god mode. To make such accusations based on a parody video is absolutely asinine.
  23. I play on the Musty servers. They have one Chernarus map and one Taviana map. Currently Chernarus is very much PVP (although you can probably still find some people willing to team up). The Taviana map is less populated, but almost all of us playing on it are more PVE oriented. There are a couple bigger groups and a couple lonewolfs, but basically everyone is friendly. If you come there, I'm sure someone would be able to show you the ropes. Here's a place to show what can be built: http://dayzepoch.com/wiki/index.php/Modular_Building_System Most of the other stuff is easy to figure out. Traders are marked on the map. Just go there, select "Trader Menu", and click on something to buy/sell. Everything costs a metal (gold/silver/bronze/etc), either as a 1oz bar or 10oz bar. That's about it. After a trip or two to the traders, you'll have it all figured out. The rest is basically just building (and playing DayZ like normal).

    Different foods

Twinkies. And a second vote for Spam.
  25. I believe the main draw of Epoch is that you can build things. Create a base using a current structure or make your own. Thus, it allows you to create a more permanent place for all your stuff. There's also traders, so you can sell things for money (gold/silver/etc) and buy what you need. It seems to be less focused on survival, and more on development. Personally, I like it. I can buy a safe to keep things in and don't have to worry about losing them. It may not be hardcore like vanilla DayZ, but I enjoy it more.
