I've never seen this.. Aren't cross hairs bad enough?

I'm sick of it too, and I'm pretty sure anyone who doesn't themselves d/c to avoid death sees it as a priority. Unfortunately I just don't think the fix is, in practical terms, as easy to deploy as people think. There is a post in announcements where rocket makes a pretty empty threat in regards to doing something about it, and how easy a fix it would be, but that was a while go now. I really hope it is high on his list of priorities but until a permanent workable fix has been publicly rolled out I wouldn't hold my breath. It's a real game breaking shame but I still love DayZ.

This is gonna happen, you can limit it by updating to the latest beta and only updating/playing the latest DayZ version after having read the feedback on the forums. It will still happen though, so really just accept it as a sucky part of part of an otherwise great experience.

I thought this was to do with ping, server connection, but it must be a bug. I've seen this happen too many times, consistently but only for certain people. It's frustrating because the slow pokes are cast out, no none want's to run anywhere with them.

If your alone I'd come in at the south west barracks, that way it's possible to get in and out without really having to leave the tree lines..It's always a risk, so only really try to get items your unlikely to find anywhere else. Move out as soon as possible. If you come under attack anywhere but near a building just run, other wise take cover and and assess quickly the best next move (minus Alt F4). Try your best not to shoot, (even SD) weapons give away your location and once your up in the NW it really is kill on sight. Gd luck.

Two of us shot the shit out of a guy yesterday, (had to be done) and he didn't see it coming. I got the murder for it but there was no body on the ground. I'm impressed by how fast people jam those buttons, and how effective a slap in the face it is to the person who took you out.

no backpack shows up on a ghillie suit.. maybe he meant it's useful if you spend your time lying your stomach, regardless of the skin. OP wondered the same thing, and I like the suggestion.

Create a new (or edit if not your default) profile from the Arma menu. Then play from that profile.

I updated manually as having seen the torrent I assumed six updater wasn't an option.. ah well

I've never sniped anyone, having only provided over-watch once at Cherno. I use an FN FAL mostly, and my job is as I said to scout the tree lines surrounding the city (especially at Stary). Since it's almost guaranteed that if someone isn't already watching you, they're on their way there. Not everyone who disagrees with you is a player hunting sniper.. And to the guy that said it was boring to secure an area or scout tree lines, (I rarely say this) but it might actually be the wrong game for you.

What are you using to boot Arma CO, you tried re installing the Beta? What are the version numbers top right when you start up the game. If you use six updater to actually launch the game as well as update, make sure it isn't launching two instances of the client and blocking you for piracy.

"there's no actual competition if someone has advantage." In tactical games, getting the advantage is the competition. You'd have probably gotten much better loot by scouting the tree line and taking the sniper out, than actually going into Stary. There are some obvious tactics you could deploy in that Scenario. If you know you have a close combat weapon why put yourself in a position where your at such an obvious disadvantage? If the reason is you only had a Makarov and you didn't really care then fair enough, no need to feel a way.

I think it happens to everyone it's just that bandits get over it a lot faster

I still prefer running with a group but I appreciate the points you make, and you die more easily in a group honestly. You take more risks, are a larger target and end up in shit you wouldn't otherwise need to be in.. Good let's play, nice to see more Brits.

better loot, vehicles, nvg, gps, ghille (all in one life isn't such a cakewalk) set up a camp, get some sd weapons and practice headshots. Surviving and actually doing things besides living in the forest is still a challenge.

It's one of biggest issues, and kills so much of the tactical aspect of pvp. Yesterday I was shot at just outside vybor, the guy must have been a bad shot or really far away, but I could hear the DMR mags hitting around me. I ran and made it to the trees south of the filling station, I had planned to log out but stayed logged in for another 10 minutes while I scouted the area, eventually determining they must have been closer to the airfield and just chancing it. If I come under attack I play it out, and I have have maximum respect for anyone that similarly plays out combat scenarios honorably in DayZ because it allows for a whole other dynamic to PvP, particularly team fights. I've lost everything I wanted to find in DayZ at least once so I'm sure I'll find it again.

Yesterday me and another guy opened fire on someone at NWA and same thing, they just jammed that shut down button. Real shame, but If you cant kill them in 1 shot, they'd rather take the death on logging back in than give you the satisfaction of a kill.

Suggestion: NVGs spawn at all three airfields, and the bunkers in Stary Sober as well as crashed hellis, with double the chance of spawning. This is a voting thread, please vote yes or no. If your feeling really constructive, a reason for or even a counter suggestion for how they can help populate night servers would be great.
