    Yep lighter, golf ball, battery, random nuts and bolts. Dayz will test your ingenuity in and out of game.

    99% Auto run device on (battery + wallet) and then I do laundry while sort of checking in on the game every couple minutes to make sure im not stuck against a fence or in downtown vybor.

    Gunshots sound issue in .49?

    Did anyone else run into this? Not a big sample size but it seemed like last night I could not hear the gunshots from my friend I was playing with, even though we were quite close (~20 yards). When we were looking for each other to meet up he shot a deer right in front of me but I didnt hear it when I should have easily been able to. Can't say if this was from any other players as well, we didnt see anyone in 2+ hours on a 40px server.
  4. I honestly quite prefer 3rd person. I just am in favor of seperating the hives if people want a hardcore mode. If the servers are all dead, then obviously its not desired by the community as a whole and we'll have our answer.
  5. Now at least you won't get people gearing on rookie servers and then pvp'ing on hardcore servers "like a man". Quite happy about the idea of having a casual fun toon to rustle people with and my main toon on hardcore servers.
  6. Everyone has the same 3rd mode, use it accordingly. if you dont like it, play hardcore. What is the problem, its not an exploit thats just how it is.

    Character roll-back after new patch?

    I would basically expect a full wipe every patch. Its happened a few times already. Part of the alpha is tuning loot and the initial spawn -> gear path. Wiping it gives them valuable data on how changes affected the progression curve, player paths etc. Alpher.

    Non-Lethal Options for Disabling Players

    I just really don't like that you can't get into someone's gear until they are handcuffed / tied. It puts a bar in front of non-lethal banditry. Really now it is a lot better to try to hold someone up because you won't ruin all their gear, but needing handcuffs (or keys) as a one time use item each time is kind of weird. I'd rather the nice gear than killing someone, but right now needing items to do it makes it a bit counter productive. Should be like the mod, If I force someone to sit / lay down I should be able to take their gear.

    Wow. Random spawn EVERY JOIN? No. please god no. What if my internet drops? I end up in X? Thats insane. Negating my 1 hour running north to somewhere I want to go, and ending up in a totally random place crazy train for real. Why wouldn't I just relog all the time to get close to where I want to be? Here's how you do it. Party spawn. 1 person goes to NWAF. 1 Person goes to cherno. I tele to NWAF, get gear. Tele to cherno. Rampage. Repeat. There are tons of ways to exploit any fast travel or location selected spawn on server join. Same with camp spawn. Rampage cherno, out of ammo? Sweet I'll just relog and be back at base. Rinse, repeat. What if I die? No worries. Party spawn with the group. Instantly geared. As much as it may inconvenience you, the very premise of this game is based on travelling long distances, often on foot. Orienting yourself and your party and figuring out how and where to meet is 100% "on theme" and an important early step for new players. Ghosting is and always has been an issue, but its far less exploitable and easier to prevent than allowing people to transport themselves by joining servers for any reason. If you are in a high risk area you should be constantly on guard anyways. I have nothing against multiple toons on seperate hives. But the game should not cater to your convenience, or make it easy for new players to group. These mechanics can and absolutely will be abused.

    PvP... and not much else.

    I made a friend yesterday! We both didnt have much. He a pipe wrench, me a splitting axe. We waved at each other. I needed water and he showed me where the nearest pump was. He took a drink and I buried my axe in his back and took his helmet. All was right in the world.
  14. I don't really understand the distinction you make. Can you explain what KOS is for you? Player hunting for fun? Or just murdering in cherno with low tier weapons? Or bambi hunting? Is there a difference? If I'm feeling murdery I'll kill anyone for no reason, but i don't KoS... I Kill when the moment is right, and usually that means they never see me in the first place and I see them for a long time. And I will certainly take their gear if they have any. But its not because I needed anything necessarily that I engaged them in the first place. My friends and I will generally just lock down an area and attack anyone who comes in view. Not because we need anything, but because its not worth the risk and we aren't interested in trading or helping anyone else. I don't really see anything wrong with this. But everyone who died is probably OMG KoS why U NO ask if friendly? Sandbox is sandbox. Have fun in it.

    I crafted a full map. From what I can tell S and N go together to make the full map (I found both halves individually.) You probably can go SW/SE -> S and NW/NE->N S/N -> Full. But not combine the NE/SE to make E.

    Doesn't mean they aren't still logging out. Pretty common in the mod to log right after you die just so whoever killed you doesn't get your stuff. Haven't tested respawning, as mentioned that likely erases the body too. So for now you have a pretty limited window to loot. I have for sure looted some dead bodies though, so I'm not really sure about respawn just yet.

    How would that work though? It shouldn't be able to move your dude around, and you shouldn't be able to select or influence your spawn point. Changing the risk of the game so you can get to a friend makes no sense. If you want to wait for your friend, do it. If you want to explore, go do it and come back. The game shouldn't be doing you any favors as far as location goes, these would be FAR too easy to exploit. Multiple chars would be okay, but only on totally seperate hives. Again, having more than one that can interact in the same world would me MUCH too easy to exploit. (Mule characters are a lot safer than storing gear in a tent).

    If you exit the server the body goes with you. Once people realize you can't just respawn your dude geared in the same spot anymore, it will likely die down a bit. But this was always a problem in the mod as well. I'm not a fan of death messages. I don't want people to know if I am dead / unco / just laying behind something if they get a snipe off on me. They should have to come check or wait.
  23. The other thing is food (and less so water now that you can spam a pump). The amount of food you need to be "full" and not worry about it takes a while to acquire. Spawning starving / thirsty is really a great step forward.
  24. There is a big difference between raising the value of a character, and preventing KOS. They are totally seperate. Raising the value of the character means to the player. I want my character to last as long as possible, I dont want to die. KOS for gear is a seperate thought all together. Raising the value of a character may slightly lessen it (if people don't want to take the risk), but its more about the situation earlier described. Should I engage? If i get taken hostage, do I fight back? Its more on the player who is being attacked than the attackers. I like the idea of endurance and proficiency (over time... not just repetitions). It would be cool to tie this into sickness / endurance / health as well. The way I see it a survivor who is consistently well fed / healthy would gain endurance, improved immunity etc. etc. A survivor who was not well fed for a long time would still gain endurance, but may be more susceptible to disease and infection. Putting a long term incentive on player life, and also their HEALTH would be a huge addition to survival in general. Also beards.
