Worst thing about night time is the gamma exploit. You have to use it because otherwise your at a massive disadvantage - it would be like using 1st person only on a server that has third person enabled. And high gamma just makes night-time look like a colourless daytime, so I'll stick with daytime for now. -

Hate the game, not the players. There is nothing to do in the game yet except interact with other players and the only type of interaction that poses any type challenge at the moment is PVP. I disagree with shooting unarmed/low tier geared players but you've just got to accept the fact there are many terrible players playing this game that enjoy easy kills because they suck. When more content is in the game and the environment is more challenging it will (1) give players more of reason to work together and (2) provide the option to avoid other players entirely but still have interesting gameplay. -

I wasn't aware that DayZ and GTA: SA were even RPG's. Yeah, you can roleplay, of course you can. But the premise of any good RPG is a stringent rule set - from tabletops like D & D to the decent cRPG's/MMORPG's you are always still confined to a set of rules. DayZ has no such ruleset, which imo is the absolute charm of the game. Total freedom, no rules. There is so much KoS now because there is literally fuck all else to do in DayZ yet. I don't KoS but I will actually hunt PVP action in standalone because it's a boring game otherwise, Zombies are no challenge and the environment is no challenge. I like a challenge. When there's more stuff to do, it will improve. I hope. -

It's definitely realistic in DayZ - anywhere without a bright moon and no artificial light in real life is literally pitch black - like, can't see your own hand inches from your face black. However, I won't play night because of the Gamma exploit. It's essentially night vision for everyone if they choose to use it. Real shame too, because running around using torch and lamps is as immersive as fuck. -

Nope. Didn't work in the mod. KoS by heroes many times. Great interactions with bandit skins many times. Its never only black and white - much of the interaction between players in DayZ is so circumstantial. That is the beauty of DayZ. This suggestion dumbs it down - simplifies it. You want less kill on sight? Make the game more hardcore. Give players more to do than just run around fully geared after an hour off spawn. Make PVE as threatening as the PVP. Make players worry about dying of thirst, hunger, disease, make zombies a real threat, make it a interesting to be able to ignore it all and go and survive in the woods away from civilisation. This is what we need - not some red flag on 'bandits' to hold your hand. -

I'd love to see how widely accepted DayZ would be by the console audience. Lets be honest, DayZ is not the most accessible of games and the mantra of most console game developers is to pretty much streamline what they can so the game appeals to as many as possible. It would be awesome for DayZ to be a massive critical and commercial success on consoles - it would be a massive middle finger to those big companies who release that same dumbed down crap constantly. -

I've actually adopted a new play-style when I play on my own; a fun little game I call 'Pop the hopper'. All you need to do is join a low populated server, find a jail building or barracks, wait for the reloading sound and then blast that hopper before they can even start to move. Fun times. -

The spawns are currently set up between Elektro and Berezino (south east to north east). You can also spawn in Novy. There are currently no spawns at Balota airfield. It's been this way for a couple of weeks now.

Just take out the Elektro, Novy and Kamyshovo spawns. Those are the spawns that players are after when they suicide at the moment. Problem solved - now suicide is pointless - you have to make your way inland, up to Zino or take the massive run around the coast.

Never once combat logged in over a thousand hours of playing the mod/Standalone - it defeats the entire purpose of DayZ for me, which is player interaction. If you combat log, you're shit at the game and and some dumbed down single player zombie game would suit you far better.

It's far better than what we had before. It will now be Spawn > Crap loot > Mosins and Revolvers > Military. Before it was Spawn > Military. -

This is awesome. And it makes total sense; all the major military spawns are on the west side of the map excluding NE Airfield, which doesn't have barracks anyway. It's a great move to spread the action around the map and a far more balanced way of progressing your character from spawn (if we are to consider looting as a quasi-levelling system). -
