Well basically, when you have an epoch server than goes to 100% CPU usage when the key is installed and 20% when its removed is a pretty good sign..... But to be fair i hadn't had any issues whilst running dayz mod servers. At the same time, as mentioned in my original post, should only be an issue if you are strapped for resources, which I never was.

Will impact server performance, so if you have a bunch of servers running on the same box you may want to consider that. Also throwing cans sounds like grenades as does running through trees with an active chemlight. That said its a marvelous sound pack.

Those are banned in the mod itself, you would need to play overwatch or epoch etc. But those are shyte lol -
Maybe not a strong argument to support what they do, but its historically accurate. I can't see them deviating from what they are good at when they have such a hard time completing games on the scale they desire. Shit Arma 2 just became what i would define as a GM title last year.

I see this a lot, dude comes on the forums whines about alpha, then folks tell him to "take a break", "come back in a year". We should probably be telling people to play the mod. The mod is polished and wonderful, anyone who has issues with the SA in its current state would surely love the DayZ mod. Granted there are folks that have run that course and came to SA from the mod and are burnt out on it. But there are lots of people who have yet to experience the joy of vehicles, satchel charges, nvg's, DMR's, stashes, infected survivor camps, fence crafting, helicopters just to name a few things. Another huge plus is the north is BARREN, the new towns are nice but there is something to be said for the vast wilderness of northern vanilla Chernarus.

Look at Bohemias other titles, they do hardcore sim and thats it. The rest of the stuff comes from modders. And BTW DayZ Mod Battle royal already exists. Go play it, its fun.

I have wondered if those who come from the Standalone to the mod are aware of all the minutiae that exists in its wonderful gameplay mechanics. Things like: Item degradation (water bottles hatchets etc) which can be repaired with duct tape. A proper nutrition system. Night Vision Goggles! Helicopters, vans, cars, buses, trucks, biplanes, plus the ability to fuel/repair these Wonderful character models (most people don't have Arma PMC installed which is what the characters are based on you install PMC and the character models rival the SA) Crafting of wire traps (think grenade tripwires!) Stashes and Tents. A stash is a hole in the ground that you dig that you can continue to upgrade to hold tons of weapons and items yet they are almost invisible. Those along with tents are ever persistent with no need to pack them every Wednesday. Guns! So many guns. Snipers, assault rifles, pistols, crossbows! It's wonderful! The engine is beautiful. In a lot of ways I like it better than the TOC engine and its a lot easier on your system. ZOMBIES! Tons of lethal zombies: a never ending stream of the meanest SOB's you've ever come across. None of this simply running into a house and looting. You need to be uber careful or else you will die. Infection mechanic(s) Harvesting of plants. Organic Temperature mechanic (you stop moving you get cold, then you get sick then you die) HUD! Your status effects are shown in an easy to read HUD in the right of your screen. NO CAN OPENERS! You just open and eat stuff. Way less hacking. Build Wooden Fences / Metal Fences / Gates. Less enter-able houses. Sounds like a minus right? There are still many many enterable houses but having a few less forces players to operate out in the open more, forcing interaction. You think you know DayZ? You think its easy to survive? Try the mod. You. Will. Die.

No. there is no epoch expansion, only a mod full of ripped off code with some stuff added. You do not load @dayz;@dayz_epoch. You load @dayz_epoch. -

Long story short i was thinking about adding to my one vanilla server. I currently have a few Overpoch ones and an Epoch one on the same box as my vanilla. What i would like to know is should i switch this to be five 3rd person vanilla servers and two or three first person ones all sharing the same character data but separate object data tables? (Obviously the 1st person would be one hive and the 3rd another) Its a fine box and if i turf all the overpoop we can support a fine hive. Thoughts?
