I bet 75%+ of the dayz population doesnt even know how to fly a chopper. If you play on a server long enough you see the traffic of players come in and out. As a server admin I figured youd know that. You would be able to tell very quickly which groups of people even had the capability of having certain vehicles in their possesion. And if anyone outside of those people did have it they were extremely lucky, and if any of those extremely lucky people knew how to fly a chopper then even luckier. On a lower populated server there is only so much luck someone can have, finding vehicles in the middle of nowhere when you have no vehicle to do so? I honestly am trying to believe that it was a "random" find but there is just no possible way it adds up. -
Give me one logical reason why gear destruction will delay KOS

Dont need to, its fact. There is some people that you will never change and some that you may be able to give incentive to act differently. Adding things even in small doses will affect some no matter what you think cause not everyone has the same outlook and reasoning. If someone else in the thread has already pointed that out to you then great, just +1 their comments. -

So I should just accept the fact that my vehicle will be taken from me via illegitimate methods? Or are you saying that the "true grizzled and jaded" have accepted hackers as being part of the mod? God I cant wait for the SA. -

Glad to see others are fairly suspicious as well. Weird you mentioned the range finder, I magically was snipered from 500+ meters 5 mins after I found the only one ive seen so far at a downed chopper.... And yeah it definitely hurts to know the work we put in to that chopper is going to be wasted after a quick joy ride. -

Again, I find it hard to believe knowing the little bird is still in the hanger at the NEAF, and pretty much knowing 90% of the server pop by name, using the same server every day, that some random group of people managed to get another chopper going that found it. Our group owns both ATV's on the server as well. Also that our truck, second ATV, all the gear on both vehicles that was 50 meters from the chopper was untouched. Definitely was not a "random" occurance nor was it found by intentional exploration. -
Zeds are messed period. Glad to hear they are doing a complete overhaul in the SA. I hope they get rid of the silly zig zag pathing garbo. lol....

Fair enough, however I know for a fact the little bird is still on the ground, and we had the Mi15, and we had canvassed the map 3 times almost from corner to corner. Also our truck and atvs close by were untouched. All the gear still in tact. Not even a beefsteak missing. Seemed very suspicious. And considering me and my 3 buddies are the most predominant active users of this server, and have never seen a chopper and pretty much are watching 90% of the vehicle spawns... Meh I dunno just sucks balls, Im over it. -

TLDR past the first page. It will for those people that kill for gear, kill to obtain greater goods such as NVGs or a good backpack, basically it just acts as the first steps towards it being a deterrent from it being your only option. Obviously for those "special" people that seem to kill just to flex their EPenis in their hands, it wont do anything. As is life. That is all.... -

Standalone titles dont get modded.... they get expanded.... DayZ Expansion (new cities, expanded map, new gear, new skins, new vehicles, etc....) If ANYthing thats all I would like to see... Not free lance modding that would be absurd, as is alot of mod servers at the moment. The only reason "mods saved dayz mods" is because the focus of a small to begin with dev team is split at the moment between two games. Once all focus shifts to the SA and getting it working to its fullest extent, and expanding on that, all will be gravy. I would say its a more accurate statement to say that mods have slowed down the standalone development, in the mean time keeping people interested in a skewed version of a real game thats about to be released into testing. -

Could anyone point me in the direction of an official listing for the "save" time on tents stashes and vehicles? Is it server dependent? It would be really nice to know how much real time I have from hitting the save button to it potentially poofing on a server reset. Any insight on how the save feature works altogether would be appreciated.

Very nice thanks a lot. Now if I die, but make it back to my tent\stash before 4 days is up and hit "SAVE", does that mean I refresh that 4day timer? At this point Id have to assume thats the case as I died 5-6 days ago but still have my stash as I have gone in and saved it once every 24 hours so far.

LOL well for that information to have been registered in your brain you had to of read or learnt that somewhere initially. Was looking for more of an official source of information that states this stuff but thx is a good guideline. Thx I figured it differed from private hives, just was hoping there was a section in dayz wiki or something Im missing that explains all of this. This is also disturbing news as if its true it confirms that previously owned vehicles were stolen by greedy admins or some seriously lucky sons of bitches. Thanks

Kind of not the answers I was looking for ... I more meant this concerning vehicles. There is a certain amount of time you have from the time you get out of your vehicle and leave it your camp before it "poofs" and respawns in its original spawn location. I assumed the save feature worked this way, like you have 48 hours real time once you hit the save button on your vehicle before it will respawn on the next server reset. I read somewhere your stash will dissapear 24 hours after you die, however once per day ive logged in and hit save on it and it hasnt gone anywhere. This make more sense?

I must apologize if this has been discussed somewhere already but what were the working intentions of the "Holding VS Carry" slots? As it is right now I cannot force my rifle to go to my "carry" spot unless I am replacing it with a melee item off my toolbelt such as a hatchet or crowbar. If I try and pickup a second main gun it doesnt allow one to be put on the carry spot. However if I put my hatchet in my carrying spot it will then let me swap my rifle and my hatchet at any time. At this point I can also drop my hatchet on the ground and pick up a second gun, then swap guns between carrying and holding. It seems as if the way this was designed it was only supposed to work with melee weapons? But if your intention was to be able to have 2 main hand weapons on you at all times it doesnt seem to be working. Hope this sorta makes sense. And again sorry if this has already been addressed just curious what the working intention was supposed to be.

Looks pretty good so far... loot spawns seemed fixed for the most part however anyone else notice the insensible amount of food that is everywhere now?

Id be fine with 1p only if they fixed the animations, and made it feel more like your actually in 1p, not in 2dimensional 1p.... There is a big difference... Im getting the head tracker for the SA I hope that makes it a little more realistic, because I do completely agree that playing in 1p makes the game more exciting ONLY if everyone on the server is also playing that way. -
With all those addons it sounds like a nightmare for the zombies alright....

Personal Experience Twice now Ive picked up on the dayz mod since yet again the SA has had further delays and here is how it went. First time respawning since losing my fully geared Ghilli NVG 7 Antibiotic 27 day survivor. I joined a server with approx. 30 people. Spawned just east of Cherno. Made my way as quickly as possible down the road towards Cherno, hitting a few of the residentials along the way... I spent very little time in Cherno just checked a few buildings as I ran through. Came across a corpse with a hatchet and a Czech Backpack, and a couple food and drink, BONUS! Left Cherno and continued west towards Balota, once I made it to the medical tents I waited a few minutes to see if there was any action, and seemed safe. So I ran into the tents quickly, found an AK with a mag and an Antibiotic..... BONUS! I started my run north after that checked out the Balota AF on my way and found a map~! BONUS! Set my waypoint to green mountain, and started the run. Made it to Green Mountain and found nothing, so I continued on my way through the fields towards Vybor. Checked out the grocery store and Residentals, and found a tent. Wow good run so far. Continued out of Vybor towards the NWAF. Hit up the south west HV Military, found nothing of use and had to waste a few zombies that saw me run in. It got a little hairy, and since I only had one clip on my AK I just ran past them in the hallway and into the woods. I was bleeding but had bandages so I fixed myself up and deduced "Until I have more ammo, being in the barracks probably isn't safe" So I thought it would be easier to run over the the hangers and find some ammo or a different gun. Took two steps out of the forest and BAM. MK240 to my head. Respawned in electro, hit up every building of value there. Managed to find a M14Aim with two clips, a revolver with two clips, 2 food, 2 pepsi, a GPS, an assault pack, and a few other goodies. I am now about 10 minutes out from Stary Sobor and looking good. Anyhow... don't see what all the QQ about loot is for, just keep moving around it is there. That is my testimony. Cant wait for the SA guys please make it happen! )
