    Killed By A Door

I had an outhouse door kill me as I tried to be cute. No freaking way am I going to use those death traps again!
  2. Still happening. Date/Time: 6-28-2012 and before/ ? What happened: Movement stuck in forward motion after recovering from a bout of unconsciousness during forward movement. Where you were: indoors, outdoors, on stairs, in fields, etc. What you were doing: moving forward: fast crawling, slow crouch walking. *Current installed version: 1.7.0 *Server(s) you were on: ? *Your system specs: ? *Timeline of events before/after error: Fell unconscious. Regained consciousness after several sort-of tiny false-start wake-ups. Can be unlocked by an undetermined spamming of buttons: stand, move backwards, switch primary weapons, double-tap forward, etc. Contrary to above post, my experience is that none seem to consistently work.

    How my attitude has changed.

I started out fearing other players, thinking I will lose a fire fight. I know how badly I panic. You don't. Trust me. I will lose in a shoot-out. But I was under the impression I *had* to kill or be killed. Now, when i hear gunfire or even see someone, I just crawl or run the other way. If chased, I'll spin to toss grenades and fire on automatic. I live longer, have more fun, and I actually killed one guy as he came for me, Makarov blazing. I no longer fear players; they are all just more deadly enemies that sometimes don't chase you.

    1.7.1.1 is to hard?

I really enjoy the slow, prone-crawl time in this game. So far, the exact same tactics that I was using before 1.7.1 are still working post 1.7.1.1. But I play very slow and *very* paranoid. I don't get many kills and I am fine taking 15 minutes sneaking up to a barn. I am still more afraid of the sniper's bullet in my back, from a field away. Then I got my first motorcycle! So much horn-honking fun, until Battleye d/c'ed me for unknown reasons.

    Overabundance of servers.

Joining a server with max people means I just get murdered by a player that much sooner. I like to think of sparse servers as a place that a survivor actually interested in killing zombies more than running from murderous people would go. Just need to have items/characters bound to originating server.
  6. Yes! But, the lower your humanity, the more often you slip into zombie-like behavior; like low-blood causes fainting.

Is it worth keeping the PDW for my friend?

I want to like it. On paper, it seems I should like it. Every time I get it, I end up throwing it away after being disappointed. Less ammo that actually does the job works better for me than more ammo that fails. Maybe spraying shots behind you when fleeing from murderers is a good psychological deterrent, like hand grenades? It kills everyone in movies....
  8. There seems to be some sentiment that killing a person not for their loot is wrong in Dayz; that you are griefing or trolling. But there's a Murder Score tracker up there on the right. Clearly, counting your Murders is part of the game. It doesn't say Murders of armed people or self-defense. It seems clear to me that if you choose to play in killing spree mode, Dayz rewards you with a score tracker. Placing unarmed essentially angry pedestrians along the beaches, will really throw this number off. It would be like adding an area of zombies that don't attack. Or would boredom or fear of other murderers keep this in check?
  9. YES. Not a heartbeat. FLIES buzzing louder with each murder, Stench of Death follows you, persistently through re-spans, reversible over time. Bonus: Rare "deodorant/shower" item temporarily masks it.
  10. Looks like, according to the bug reports, just need to make sure you're properly updated.
  11. Either way, there should be no time whatsoever spent on validating or resetting characters or items. That is simply an absurd use of *free* manpower. It would be only slightly less absurd if we were paying for a product that has actually been released in it's "final" form. Do not spend time on individuals wanting resets. Spend time on the tens of thousands of people wanting work done on Dayz, Alpha.
  12. In my experience, every time I put on the Camo suit (which sends me into the water for half a second), I re-spawn in the ocean after I eventually disconnect. The shore is always a barren wasteland. When I swap outfits, back & forth with civilian clothes, I create a duplicate of myself that cannot die. I have seen these dupes of ghillie suit people.
  13. YES You get a few random starting items, and thirst and hunger gain greater urgency. Ammo really needs reduction.
