  1. That was a really creepy & cool story, and a HUGE reason for NOT d'cing. The psychological aspects of this sandbox mod are pretty great.

Did I make the right weapon choice?

I've got say, the "new toy" choice is always my favorite. But after that, it's that which matches my play style. I have to fight hard to resist the compulsion to not feel like an idiot and drop my lucky M1014 shotgun for a rare sniper weapon or such. In the end though, because I hunt zombies and run from people, and I'm a panic-stricken, lousy shot, I end up happier with the M1014. I hit a copter with the reverse: The FN FAL (3 clips) was awesome, but ammo rarity and NOISE made it easy to drop...after a great town-aggroing, corpse-stacking spree! The Bizon (1 clip) went into my pack...food is now a little scarce. All the AKs I've used feel like the milqetoast of the gun world. Effective, but boring.

    Clearing zombies in barn

It's more rewarding to figure it out on your own, but one way--causing them to plummet to their deaths an effort to get to you--can be highly entertaining. I pretend they are Arma2 developers, and it's sweet revenge, for the deadly gravity and brittle bones in this game!

Is it hard to find a gun in 1.7.1.5?

Nope. There are many. Too many axes. Finding room to keep all those I like & still keep a can of beans: that's hard.

    Why did you shoot me.

Those aren't douche players. Those are Infected 2.0 and they are a game feature that enhances the excitement of all major cities! Their AI is just so good, you would think they were human-controlled. Fortunately, they are still pretty predictable.

    Helicopter crash sites

Absolutely, server bouncing to deer stands is, and yes, they certainly should.

    Why did you shoot me.

Its only lame for the POS bandits. You don't really believe that, do you? D/c'ing to avoid death goes against everything around which this game is built. It's adding exactly the kind of feature I believe Rocket wanted to avoid. And I am NOT a bandit. I'm the opposite. Hell, I even try to "bury" all my infected kills, as they deserve a proper burial, after all their suffering. (And it helps survival to not leave a trail of evidence. )

    Why did you shoot me.

In my first few weeks, I've killed two players, and that was in self-defense. And it's been really fun helping and being helped by strangers, (especially those Kiwis with their crazy-cool accents) but: The threat of being surprise attacked & potentially killed by other players, without a built-in safety net, is a very, very important part of this mod. And being able to rapidly log out and/or server bounce needs to be removed, YESTERDAY!
  9. No starting gun means far less random shooting sprees along the coast from people just being annoying, letting off steam, or getting an early start on their Kill Score. No starting food means, in one simple switch, bean bandits became a thing of the past. Although I enjoy the threat of being killed by players at any time, I REALLY think these changes are great steps forward. I have not, (except for that 24 hour period of crazy-spawn-zombies-with-crazy-eye-direction-detection), noticed zombies being any better at detecting me. But I fully accept that belly-crawling is a full 1/3 of the way you need to move in this game.

    No idea where I am?

Cherish the lost sensation, if it's not too frustrating. Once those times of vast unknown uncertainty are overcome, you can't get them back.

    Rly need help

This doesn't sound like the issue, but they are adding little patches just about every day it seems: http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php/ The game will still run without updating them, just sometimes wrong in varied ways.
  12. Sethliopod

You know what grinds my gears?

I'm still overjoyed it is able to but put back in the tool belt. That (re-)adjustment is awesome.
  13. Yeah! No more of the derogatory crap, alright? D/C'ing? Prolly had to go pee. Non-loot based reasons for pk'ing: 1. Having the threat of players trying to kill me, adds a HUGE amount of excitement & tension to this game. It would be dumb REALLY fast without it. 2. There are murder and zombie kill score trackers. The former is a far greater challenge than the latter. More power to those able to go for it. 3. So far, every time I've died to a human, I've been pushing my luck--going to high-traffic areas (see: hunting towers near barns!), lingering in grocery stores & fire houses, running down the coastal highway, etc. They have all been learn-able lessons. A sign of great game, even with so much random sandbox control! I have not once fired at a player who I didn't think fired at me first. Usually I run away. Often I die, but I am 100% happy with the killers out there, adding serious depth to my survival/kill-all-zombies game.

    nvm.

    Nevermind.

100 things I learned from DAYZ

123: Throwing an tin can (empty only!) requires crouching or standing and about five seconds of careful stretching. A grenade, however, can be primed & dropped, while prone, instantly. 124: I can take my gear & bring it to another world, no problem. 125: The sound of bullets flying & ricocheting from one's hatchet, can give one the impression they are being fired upon!

    Opinion on server hoppers? (JUSTICE)

Very entertaining. Maybe "no-spawn zones," where logging out or disconnecting will cause death or at least automatic five minute incapacitation upon re-spawn.
  17. Sethliopod

    No chat ?

So direct voice works by switching you channel over to "Direct" (white letters) with the [.] key and then using your mic, via capslock? That will send your voice to only nearby players?
  18. Sethliopod

    Am I just incredibly unlucky?

    Zombies love them cans!
  19. Sethliopod

For crying out loud give us something!

You're kidding, right? You would use an exploit to do something simple enough to do in game, as designed? I have not noticed any significant change in drawing aggro, but I've always been *really* paranoid. I have noticed dropping it is freaking easy.
  20. Sethliopod

For crying out loud give us something!

Really? Now that you can lose zombies via LoS? I used to fear aggro., crawling for ages to get a drink of water. Now I just run into any city or town, repeatedly. Losing aggro is very easy. Either way, breaking a leg is the real game-finisher. That and other players, as always.
  21. Sethliopod

New way to gear up? lul wtf!

Really need to make all gear server-bound.
  22. Sethliopod

    For the "respawners"

Just stop showing us a text feed when people die by respawn. As far as I can tell, those who enjoy jumping right into the PvP fighting around the cities must truly despise a long run along the coast. Those who simply want to make a quick grab of what they can before heading inland, don't find the cities of death too appealing. Sometimes groups have nothing to do with coastal suicide. I would like to be able to choose "populated or sparse," but I can see the incredible enjoyment a "spawn with group" feature would add.
  23. My experience so far: with side chat, I hear too many questions from noobs; without sidechat, game gets boring pretty fast.
