CoD kiddies' attitudes won't change. All the sane players are still going to be mortified at the thought of running into someone else. Survival will be harder, especially with the advent of disease, poisoning, and infection. Looting will be just about as difficult. Player movement will be slower and more cautious when zombies' detection functions have been reworked. All in all, when the zombies are polished, not much will change in regards to players' attitudes toward each other and looting in general. Everyone thinks they can do everything by themselves. If they can't? Oh well, they died in a video game. Kill themselves over and over until they get a nice spawn, then start from scratch again.

I don't know that the water between skalisty and the mainland would freeze, considering it's saltwater. I bet the marsh on the west side of the island would make for some tasty nautical nomnoms. Birds, turtles/tortoises, snakes, maybe raccoons, mice, and other vermin might be found there. As for the clan-battling, it might be a fun time, but that pathetic spit of land isn't really worth dying over in my opinion. If it were up to me I'd moor my boat in that little shack (it was there in the mod, it may not be in the SA) and bail the first time I heard a stick crunch. In the book Hatchet, the main protagonist makes a barrier in a lake out of some material that he uses to trap fish close to the shore and breeds them and feeds them the guts of their pals. That'd be a neat trick. Also 'Where the Red Fern Grows' mentions a trap where you burrow a hole in a log, place bait inside the hole, then drive nails into the hole in such a way that a critter could reach its paw in but not withdraw it.

Of course. There's always going to be those kids that think they're being clever. That island and the little spit of land with the lighthouse by Cherno in the DayZ mod were ridiculously popular tent grounds.

Typically I stay away from towns and just watch. You can learn a lot about someone by the way they act. If they're running around in the open with their gun out, they're probably inexperienced. That doesn't mean that they won't shoot you to nab your gear. Like Gecko said, it's a good idea to just stay out of sight. Every time you see a player there doesn't need to be a confrontation. You can't know if they have buddies in the underbrush somewhere. A person's mentality changes entirely when they're in a group.

Personally I don't think it should spawn in police stations. I can't imagine why they'd need two different models of submachine guns.

Just the ones exploiting placeholder mechanics, bugs, hacks, glitches, and otherwise playing this game as it was not intended to be played, I assume.

I hope welding without the mask or eye protection of any kind can blind you temporarily. That'd be a pretty slick feature. (maybe if you hold 'alt' and look away you could avoid it.)

in the menus is there a way to assign buttons to the "gamepad?" there might also be a file in the DayZ folder that has some settings you can tinker with

any chance you could get a screenshot of something like that? or is it too quick?

If I had chicken wire, I'd break off a piece a couple inches long and keep it in my glove as a shim for handcuff moments. I keep a razor blade in my shoe for similar reasons.

Has anyone learned to what extent you can repair your shoes/boots? Clothes can be repaired to Worn, for example.
