But it's alpha...A tale of magic and wonder (frustration)
nettles replied to Adams (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
My weapon's never disappeared, neither has any loot in my bag. Is it possible that you're losing your things to a scripter? A kid running cheat scripts might be fucking with people in fuller servers. It's just a theory though. -

B+ for sarcasm. Minus points for 'DayZ sucks' topic. Inb4merge -
I kinda don't think there should be any contextual help. In my opinion this game is more of a survival simulator meant to test your ingenuity. A lot of people that play this game like CoD don't bother drag-dropping items onto each other to see what they make. You can do a lot of neat things with rope, just use your imagination. As for the damage tolerances, I think taking a .45 round to the chest and still being able to wriggle around is being pretty lenient.

Nobody's going to be stupid enough to eat food that's obviously been moved/tampered with/already opened. Poison is a tricky subject, because like Rags said, its only purpose is to harm. I'm almost vehemently against PvP in DayZ, but I think poison would be an interesting addition. I'd be willing to compromise and say lethal poisons should be homemade and difficult to acquire, while easier-to-obtain chemicals (like bleach/disinfectant) would only make someone sick. As it stands, forcing disinfectant down a victim's throat has the chance to not kill them if they act quick enough. Likewise, poisonous berries have a similar effect. Personally, I would only poison my own food to carry it as a 'fuck you' to the guy who shoots me for shooting-me's sake. That's right bitch. Swallow it all.

Should scopes in dayz have the ability to zero?
nettles replied to Karmaterror's topic in General Discussion
While I don't think that scoped rifles are necessarily 'bandit's tools' primarily, I do think they should be zero-able if their real life counterpart is zero-able. -
Haha, noo, I beaned the guy for science. We were testing the new helmet.

I hit a guy with a wrench once.

killing inhuman zombies to become more human? hmm

Did you try taking the snare into your hands, looking down, and using the scroll wheel? Is there a right-click option?

You're as mistaken as you are illiterate. I pointed out that you deserved to die because you attacked someone that wasn't posing a threat to your survival.

Can we cease the flame war? The point of the story OP posted was he was killed while trying to stab someone in the back for a scrap of food. The answer to the question posed is that it really depends on where you hit them, the condition of your weapon, and the condition of their gear.

I'm sorry you feel this way kid. I'm not sure what kind of environment and family had to have shaped you, but it's unfortunate if this is your attitude. It sounds like you're not going to change your mind, but if you were even the slightest bit open to suggestion, I'd recommend you get out and visit the real world. You know, the real world where people work together and actually get shit done. Unlike your sick little fantasies, it's not 'you or me.' two men can easily share a can of beans and some boiled water from a lake. There's plenty of food and water, that's not the problem.

You deserved to die. You got greedy and you fucked up. I'm glad he killed you because you certainly deserved it. I hope it happens to you every time you decide your life is worth more than someone else's.

haha, that'd be mortifying.

Problem with this merge is that I don't think the game is shit and want my money back.
nettles replied to Barbosa1955's topic in General Discussion
Sure, that's fair to point out. Still, the agreement when you first boot up the game states that it's still not finished yet, and every player who clicks through paid for the game knowing it's not finished yet. -

I'm trying to decide if I should boil tea with OPs tears or drink them straight. Why do people feel so entitled to a properly working game when they payed for the alpha? :L -
if you fuck up the rifling on your rifle barrel it'll never work properly again. I'm behind the idea of disassembling and reassembling guns. Let's do that please. And let's please make it an entire process to rebuild the sucker instead of 'boop, it's done let's shoot a bunch of kids'

Medic here. Everyone is starving to death
nettles replied to spuddy0108's topic in General Discussion
Then those people should stick to Coll af Dooty, because Dean explained this game as a survival sim anti-game. And I'm all about that. There's not enough games like this out there. I like the way you worded your comment. Haha, these people want to kill each other without being hindered by basic human needs like eating and regulating body temperature. (also, nice sig.) -
they're planning on doing this already.

I don't understand. It sounds like you're saying hunting and gathering wild fruit isn't a feasible playstyle. I would agree that there should be some alternative methods to start fires, like flint-striking, magnesium stones, steel-wool, lens focus, etc- but we're still in development and the sheer volume of lootable food in town offsets the difficulties of the current cooking system. If you think it's hard to survive on canned food now, where will you be in the full release? Anyway, never underestimate the quality of tools and weapons that can be found in buildings that are often overlooked by other survivors. You can be sure the piano houses in berezino are looted, but what about the single-story houses? The apartment complexes? There's more to this game than sprinting between popular loot spots. About the 'situational' remark, I don't believe that's the case. You don't have to be lucky to find everything you need. You just have to want your character to survive. Apples and lakes can keep you alive. Most kids are just too lazy to accept that as a solution though and opt to sprint into town to find a tacticool gun and some canned tuna. -
Or maybe the game's design is taking a turn away from 'instant gratification' mode

Something that's always bothered me with games like this: Aren't bullet velocities different between the AK rifles that fire 7.62, 5.56 and 5.45 anyway? Wouldn't the PSO scope have only one of those calibers configured?
