I'm so glad i have this flashlight in the Zombie Apocalypse
nettles replied to Billyboblikespie's topic in General Discussion
But if you spawned with literally almost any other gear, such as an improvised melee weapon or cell phone (which could maybe instead be substituted for a walkie talkie that may need batteries) You'd still have to learn how to drag it down to the hotbar or plop anything into it. -

I used to play this game way back in the day called Urban Dead. It would let you choose what class your character belonged to before the outbreak. Members of emergency response would begin the game with items and training related to their profession, i.e. firefighters would spawn with an axe and firefighter clothes. Similarly, cops would spawn with a handgun and training and medical staff would start with a first aid kit and training. Civilians would spawn with a random improvised weapon, such as a crowbar, baseball bat, kitchen knife, etc, and a cell phone. I'd like it if we could choose our stories prior to the outbreak and it would affect what we start with. For instance, I'd like to follow my own life story; A foreign exchange student from the states that landed in the wrong country at the wrong time. There's a lot of room for abuse though; imagine every CoD kiddie starts the game as prior-military-service class just so they can start with a gun. -
How do you bide your time in the game? Both while on the run from A to B and while waiting for your friend to come online or to your location. Do you organize your inventory? Plot courses on your map? Broadcast on your radio? Me? I like to read books while running or wasting time waiting for food to digest.

Is it considered bad form to server hop at military areas?
nettles replied to zombieland78's topic in New Player Discussion
I didn't misunderstand, don't worry your pretty little noodle. I don't join a server to pick up loot and leave. I'm fine with being a part of a growing healthy community. People tend to trickle in, leave, and are replaced by other, different people with different styles of play. (And yes, don't worry, I understand this is the SAME server, you don't have to remind me multiple times~) Just because I don't like to migrate from highly-populated server to server and aggressively murder everyone I see justifying it with "IT'S JUST A GAME IF THEY WANTED TO SURVIVE THEY WOULDN'T PLAY, GOD." For some people that's okay. To be quite frank, even if the server I end up with is only 12 people, I'm fine with that. That's a shit load of people. You could fortify Svetlojarsk in a day with that many people. Build a little community. Defend it from hordes. etc etc. (That's just an example.) I've never died facing away from an enemy. Apparently I need to make it clear I'm not a serverhopping inbred mouthbreather, incapable of understanding things without being told multiple times. -
I'd like it if you had to actually swing at the tree, you could see the missing chunks in the trunk, and when the tree fell, it had its own physics, such as crushing and resting on a soft body or rolling down a hill into a camp of hoarders' tents.

I agree with Odin; having private shards is going to cut down a lot on server hopping. I'm all about server loyalty. -
The protective cases are most commonly found in fire stations. I've found a handful in the red brick taverns. Some also spawn in the large factory building that looks like a piano house.

Is it worse form than shooting someone in the back and taking their things? -
Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
nettles replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
I don't have much problem murdering zombles with melee. A lot of times the problems people have with melee are just dodging and timing. Never stand adjacent, just circle strafe and aim for the face after it swings. It just takes practice. -
Mleh. If I can get an axe, I never go back to towns or places where children might be lurking. Too many horror stories like these. Sorry those things happened to you man.

DayZ Elektro Stories - Episode 1 - Capturing And Executing A Bandit
nettles replied to ForsakenSpirit (DayZ)'s topic in Gallery
I liked the last part of the video the most. You didn't shoot the guy, even though you had more firepower. Mucho appreciato. -
It seems like if you were being baited, the handcuffed guy would have been trying to get your attention over VoIP or chat. He might have been unconscious and completely oblivious to your presence and the ensuing scuffle.

I love it when people post their high-horsing about how easymode-seeking children only play on 3PP servers. Yes, you strong men playing with purely 1PP (that's hardcore, for you other weaklings) and your SPARTAN GENES are a dying breed, alright.

And gas masks aren't? You hush and let me justify my pee-rag
-
I'd rather just pee on my handkerchief and wear it around my face like usual.

Did Zombies become super tough? Or is this one an anomoly?

Jumping Server Cheating and Spawning Characters

This game is only difficult for attention-deficit children. -
A lot of the names on the forum might not be friendly. You should keep that in mind.

Oh, that is a very astute observation... Shit. We have a free thinker; Bravo Foxtrot 1 this is ground patrol, we have a code 5, repeat, code 5 in General Discussion.
-
Avoid you. Especially if you're running around with your weapon out.
-
Yeah, that sounds about right.

I do agree that player numbers should be hidden somehow. Too many loot babies that get on servers with less than 3 people to clean out the military bases. Also, about the bathing, I hope they do add personal hygiene. It's been something on my mind for a long time. Going unclean for too long increases your risk of infection because of the amount of bacteria making a host out of you. I wonder how many 12-year-olds would drown trying to figure out the bathing system?

You know if I remember correctly that whole plan in the movie actually ended very gruesomely
