Nope. I'm saying that I don't gain skill points in real life. It's not a metaphor.

For some reason, my partner and I can no longer skin animals with the M9A1 bayonet. I read in the .47 patchnotes that the SKS bayonet now can be used to skin animals, so my question is, is anyone else having problems skinning animals? What knives are you using? What animals are you trying to skin? He and I both tried to skin the new red deer (it was a beautiful creature, shame we had to shoot it) and the wild boar using the M9A1 bayonet (it looks like a bowie knife and can be attached to an M4A1, though it's not a knife that can be stored in military boots). Bonus question: has anyone located a 'Combat Knife' since .44? I've only ever seen one in all my 560 hours of playing, though I do tend to shy away from military zones. Edit: I'm also having problems adding a bipod to my Mosin Nagant. (I accidentally chucked my favorite AK off a cliff.) It won't fit on the new CR527 either, which is a real bummer. Is anyone else having bipod related issues?

Orlok, do you feel? Or are you actually just a forum moderator-bot? :o

Dupers are scum, there's no doubt about it. I have no qualms about losing gear to a fair death.

it's intuitive and pretty clever. I like it. behind the idea 100%

Dutch ovens, tents, gas lamps- building camps is going to be so fun.

skateboards or gtfo sick grinds trying to boogie from the bogies

there is no 'endgame' in a survival open-world sandbox game. It's up to you and your friends how you play. It's a simulator of a hypothetical situation. You don't gain 'skill points' in real life. (Or at least, I don't...)

AK-47 or SKS, no sight systems, attachments, or paint- regular mags/no stripper clip; besides 9mm, 7.62x39 is the most plentiful ammo I've found. CR75 with a flashlight only; 9mm is very easy to come by and my partner uses the MP5, so we have some common ammo. Flashlight for dark spaces Fire Axe unpainted; I might paint it black if I'm wearing the paramedic jacket. maxed out weapons with every attachment just don't appeal to me. If the CR 527 used 10/15-round mags I might use it instead. I do like its noise.

Supposedly it reverts your shock back to 0. I dare you to try it with the defib.

I think, generally, you're right about there needing to be a waste system to make it the complete survival sim, but no, there's just too much room for abuse. This is still a video game and there is a line between video games and realism.
-
I've never been a firm believer in wearing cumbersome headgear. I'm a baseball cap type. But the one time I wore a ballistic helmet I took a 7.62x39 to the noodle and lived to tell the tale. scoot scoot.

I understand what you're saying. but when you guys were behind the little shed thing there, since you were the guy in the back, it would have made more sense for you to be watching the rear anyway.

It's actually a bad idea to aim your gun in the same direction as your teammates at all. Normally, when I'm with friendlies, I'll aim my rifle wherever they aren't. It's just good practice and it avoids incidents like this. Remember kids: Friendly fire isn't.

That thing would be too far from the NWAF to do anything useful. People stop rendering around a klik or so depending on your settings. My partner and I were testing the range of the Mosin and it was kinda funny to see him pop in and out of existence. Those clock towers are baddasser than hell though lemme tell you what.

They may add more fire stations with the towns they're adding soon.

Oh man, less-than-lethal? Are you kidding me? Oh I am stoked please oh please let it be a high-powered beanbag launcher, a tazer, or rubber bullets, giddy giddy giddy

Most kids with sniper rifles just hide in trees, almost invisible, outside of cities with no intention of looting their victims. Unless that kid is listening to some really loud music, they should be able to hear someone approaching long before it's a problem.
-
Scoped rifles have their uses. I like to sit outside of town and pick off zombies. It's kinda fun to guestimate the range, zero your scope, let the round fly, and let your friend tell you 'too high, too low'. Sniping players seems like a shitty way to play unless the target is harassing someone. KoSers in general irk me, even though they're a necessary evil.

Hhhhhehehehaha, yeah, that is a trip... Hacksaws appear to be the worst in that regard. You're definitely right about there being too much food available. Hunting and gathering would be way more feasible if, like you said, there weren't copious amounts of food. Now that loot respawns, there's really not much reason to sink a bolt into a boar. I digress. Hopefully they will soon allow us to skin with most reasonable blades and add combat knives back into areas we can actually loot right now.
-
Apparently only if they're in 'badly damaged' condition. by then, skinning is a moot point anyway because you're only getting like 30% meat anyway. We need a Skinning Knife with a scaling tool backend.
-
I can understand why that would be the case, but a lot of bipods clamp on to the barrel of guns.
-
I believe the Combat Knife is the only one that attaches to military boots. Later down the line they might let us also sheathe the SKS and M4 bayonet as well as the kitchen knife. (though I doubt it.) Thanks for the feedback, glad to hear I'm not the only one.

This game needs less shortcuts, in my opinion. You made a good point about how people can instantly reload from their backpack- that should definitely be addressed. Personally, I don't think having a single key reload would be a good idea. I might be willing to compromise with having a series of keys needing to be pressed, since that requires a little focus. Since the slide is back, you'd really only need to hit one key to fumble in your pockets for a round, one key to jam it in, and one to release the slide. Overly complex, maybe even a little too realistic, but really it's not that much of a hassle to chamber a round through the GUI.
