It's funny because you can't explain to these children why their updates to the core engine aren't coming as fast as they want. It's cute how entitled they feel because they paid money to opt into a pre-release version. And you can't ever count on them to do research on their own, they just have to come and complain on the forums because So short sighted. "MY gameplay isn't fun! Make MY experience better!"

There's never a black-or-white answer, and that's why this game is so interesting. You can't know what's going to happen. You just have to use your best judgement, and for a lot of you Call of Duty kiddies, it's gunning someone down without giving them a chance. For you softbellied hippie types, it's giving everyone a chance and feeling indignant when the group of 4 overly-geared clones murders your face off. Me? I just like to sit in the woods with my fishing hole and my books and have a beer while this whole thing just blows over.

Two Suggestions. Yawning when logging and Click for weapon mode
nettles replied to leviski's topic in Suggestions
I like the second suggestion. The first one doesn't particularly affect me in any way. -
The hotfix yesterday supposedly fixed some issues with persistence. It's not unlikely that server owners didn't hear about it immediately and just haven't enabled it on their servers yet.
-
The devs and moderators scuttle about the forums, but do keep in mind they're livin' breathin' people with schedules and hidden agendas and plans. Big big plans. I'm on to you. =. =

I assure you you're not going to hit me from any distance. You're missing the point though. Having a scoped rifle doesn't make you a 'sniper.' Shooting someone from a great distance doesn't make you a 'sniper.' Watching people for a long time through a scope doesn't make you a 'sniper.' I digress and I apologize, but getting back to the topic at hand, there will not be death messages. However, I would agree to being able to rifle through someone's wallet for ID or check their dogtags, notes, etc to confirm identity.
-
I mean, that's cute and all. I could really just pinch your cheeks. Truly. Hardcore you say? You must be beast. Having a scoped rifle doesn't make you a 'sniper' any more than wearing glasses makes you a genius.
-
First of all, you're not a 'sniper.' Second, no. No kill messages. It's been discussed; this game is going to communicate to you through context clues about the state of your character. Little kids with scoped rifles don't need a handicap that tells them when they've successfully 'pwnd' someone. Or maybe they do. Regardless, you're not getting it.

Negatory. I'm one of those high-horses that doesn't shoot people. I've never killed someone that couldn't defend themself.

How do You Keep Yourself Busy While Travelling?
nettles replied to nettles's topic in General Discussion
Well now. I apologize if I've offended you! It sounds like you've had a rough day. Care to unwind with a copy of Hamlet? Or is your inventory too stuffed with bullets, grenades, and instruments of death? -

It is clever and sinister. I think I'd rather be KoS'd, though thanks for the insight. Personally, I'm one of those high-horses that doesn't kill anyone for gear or fun. -
I hope you weren't planning on eating that cow.

If you submit a bug report and provide some video of it happening, you might get some help.

Meh. There's a million 'DayZ Survival Guides' regurgitating the same info. Unless you used a premade web kit, at least you got some coding practice with your web page. Edit: I apologize, that probably came off as rude. What I mean to say is, there is already a lot of information about this game on the forum, wiki, and social media. Creating a site stating information that's already readily available isn't particularly necessary. Unless your site gets some sort of promotion, no one's going to see it.

Oh look at that. You're picking on fresh spawns. I don't know why I expected our protagonists to impress me with feats of marksmanship and valor. Of course it's just kids picking on new spawns. It's always kids picking on new spawns. Nice job with the dramatic intro. I feel like I've just been talked into some very unsatisfying sex.

Wonderful. This is truly a heartwrenching story. I am glad you learned something and are optimistic for the future. -
May we please have a reading animation? Maybe if you're crouched you'd sit on your butt and flip through pages in real time. It would also be nice if we could alt-look as mentioned in this thread. I understand this is a survival simulator 'anti-game.' But I really do appreciate that you can nourish your noggin with books in addition to nourishing your body with slain deer and boar. Just wish I could look relaxed next to my fire while leafing through a dusty moldy tome. c:

Would someone in the NE be so kind as to save me?
nettles replied to LucidHills's topic in General Discussion
There's actually a couple medic/hero clans dedicated to doing things like you asked. -
I think using a flare gun or zombie cure as a lootable item to respawn your friends is a good idea. It will be abused like any mechanic such as wall peeking or being able to stick your noggin through a wall to see the other side. It will be abused until it's fixed. Even the DayZ mod had a simple mechanic that could detect when you were in combat, so implementing something like that in the standalone and forcing players to wait until a certain amount of time had passed since their last attack or proximity to an attack, or since the last time a flare/cure was used would be easy enough.

They have a reddit and a tumblr. I don't use reddit, but their tumblr is here. They post development news and announcements every week.
-
It would be more helpful if you would present evidence like video, IP of the server it happened with, and less angry conjecture. Unless you present evidence, not much can be done to fix the problems you mention.
-
Oh, would you be so kind as to maybe paraphrase what others missed? Or are you just going to wag your finger at us and say 'na-na-na-boo-boo'?

no
