    Can't change resolution.

I want to pretext by saying I put probably close to 1,000 hours back in the mod days from the beginning, and after putting like 80 hours in the SA I lost all hope, but I figured I'd try it out since its finally full release (only 5 years wow). I installed, launched it, and went into the settings to drop it down to 1920x1080 instead of my native 5760x1080. But surprise surprise I was let down again. I can modify EVERYTHING in every menu, EXCEPT nothing happens when I try to change my resolution. Hats off to you Bohemia. I got about 5 minutes of play time (all in the menu), before I was his with a game breaking glitch. Not like its a full game or anything though... It wasn't in alpha that long so bugs are to be expected. I miss the mod.

*bump* Can anyone give an inkling of how to fix this? Verifying game cache, and reinstalling don't fix it.

    PC overheating.

Emergency cooling in place The shame that is my PC's inside. Im sorry... I *really* dont live like a tramp. Honest! It really isnt that dusty. throw some pretty paste on there, empty about 4 cans of compressed air, reroute every cable in your rig, and you should be prada gucci.

Mister fucking hotshot over here. I will trump all your asses tomorrow. http://imgur.com/5reDArb Tada. EDIT: Old photo, shitty lighting. I've since fixed the cables top, side, and tried to same the mess around the PSU that you cannot see. When I post, ignore the fact that all infront of the PSU is a big pile of AIDs and cables. I had to do a bunch of weird shit in order to hook up both my SSDs, and it was a clusterfuck, I'll fix it when I'm not lazy.

    PC overheating.

That's the same case I have currently. I'm actually planning to upgrade it to a H440 or something eventually. You most likely won't be able to fit a 240mm rad inside (my H100i didn't fit), but other than that, it's an extremely solid case for its price. Good luck with the devil.

    PC overheating.

That's toasty. Do you happen to know what kind of case you have? And what's your budget on a new case? There is also the chance that your thermal paste on your CPU is starting to get old. You can easily get a new tube of that for $5, which should help bring your temp down a bit (a lot if it's old). Also, you might need to remove the cooler/case fans and any fan filters if you have them, and blow them like you've never blown before ;). How often to you clean our the nooks and crannies on your rig? You could also go down the route of an aftermarket cooler. Something such as the Hyper 212 EVO is actually an amazing little cooler, and will only run you around $30 USD. Poor cable management can also contribute to a hot case. If the front of your rig looks like a jungle, rerouting some of the cables might give it better airflow. There's a few other things that might help a bit too. - Some cases may have removable hard drive cages, giving the front intake more airflow. - Positive air pressure (more intake than exhaust) not only helps keep your rig less dusty, but doesn't starve the fans of air. Pro Tip - If you do decide to take the cooler off your chip, especially if you've never done it since 2010, be very careful. Stock coolers tend to use cheaper thermal paste which dry up and can get really tacky. After only a month or two, when I put liquid cooling into my rig, the stock cooler refused to come off, and I ripped my chip right out of my mobo. It was terrifying. Don't do that. Just gently wiggle it and give it kisses. What GPU did you get? EEEEEEEDIT: I don't know what your budget is, but I have an H80i, which I believe you can get for under $100, and I find that these little 120mm liquid coolers work great. I'm overclocking my chip from 3.5, to 4.2GHz, and I idle around 27-30C, when I game it's anywhere from 35-45 (usually around 40, and 45ish in summer), and under 100% load I top off around mid 50s.

There's not really anything else you can do. Your FPS is pretty good. Everyone has pipe dreams...

    Low Fps whit gaming pc?

I just want to add, if you're rocking an H100i, and a 4770, you really should be OCing. That would also improve performance. Make sure post processing is off. 25-35 in cities honestly isn't that bad FPS for cities in DayZ, especially on more populated servers.

    Low Fps whit gaming pc?

Are you overclocking at all? Is DayZ on your SSD or HDD? All considering, that's playable for SA.

Key binding constantly resets on "hold breath"

Try exiting out only using your mouse (don't hit escape to back out). Make sure you click every "save" and "back" option. Sometimes just spamming and backing out, you miss an option to save.

Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

Okay, looking at minimum specs, your PC does meet the minimum requirements, but it is grazing on the end of low of minimum specs. So yes, like trtk said, your game should run, but on servers with higher pops, longer uptimes, big cities, and in new sections up north, you will experience quite large FPS issues.

Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

You won't be getting 30fps with onboard graphics. I'm rocking a 770 (with a FX-8320 though) and SA doesn't run very nicely in big cities (or in general). I might get higher FPS but in the middle of buttfuck no where. Busy cherno is still a shitty experience. EDIT: And while the 4440 would work for A2 or SA, it's a little on the lower end. From looking at general reviews and benchmarks, it actually seems to come out below the FX-8320 and 8350. So I'm more confident in saying the game wouldn't run very well.

Will the AlienWare 17 run DayZ Standalone or Mod?

More info would be better, but I would be inclined to say yes, it would, but not outstandingly well. From my personal point of view, if you haven't bought this laptop yet, don't. Alienware is extremely overpriced. You're paying for the brand name. If a desktop is an option for you, I would strongly steer you in that direction. You could build a weapon for $1500, where as aside from laptops being shitty for gaming as is, you're paying way too much for an alienware. If you are interested in a custom build rig, shoot a post up with preferences and budget, and there's plenty of people that will build you some real weapons.

Buying the game again on a different account is no hidden secret. OPs friend wants to have it on his original steam account. That in no way is going to give him some magical power. By sitting here not believing him and just overall being rude to him, isn't exactly going to stop him. Honestly from an extreme POV, if I got banned for hacking, came to the official forums, and was like "Hey, I hacked, I'm sorry, but I want to buy the game again __________" and everyone was like "Hey, you hacked, once, fuck you, you're scum, we hate you here" I wouldn't exactly be more inclined to play the game legit. Actually helping someone get the game back on their original account isn't going to magically let them hack again. IMO, if he wants to hack so bad, then he would just make another account and do that. I wouldn't want a hacked account linked to my original steam account.. twice. All I'm saying is, P.S. Fuck the Eskimos.

All I'm saying is someone comes to the official forums for a game, and asks how to proceed, and instead of accepting his mistakes and just helping the guy, the post get's the whole "Oooooh, Oookay, you're "FRIEND" hacked, eeh, you're a piece of shit, go somewhere else we hate you here". It literally turns into pages and pages of useless comments and people just flaming. For the past two years it's just people coming in, thinkin' they're hot shit, saying the same thing as the last 10 posts, and doing nothing constructive.
