The Infection is permanent until cured.
Capercaillie replied to Gravelsack's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The OP put forth an idea' date=' and remained level-headed and reasonable even with puerile responses coming from some people. At no point did he display immature conduct or insult anybody. Then you came in the thread, called him a douche, and proceeded to post a thesus of irrational sarcasm and idiotic comparisons. You are the only douche here. [/quote'] my comparisons were just as idiotical as for example op's "it doesnt make any sense==it would be too difficult" one. Please learn to read and UNDERSTAND what you read. All you have done so far is just flame flame FLAME. If you honestly think flaming and raging is a way to make someone notice their mistakes and mis-sayings, you should ask yourself that "are you 16" question. Now lets quit this useless bullcrap, shall we? To op: I have never heard of anyone respawning with even semi good gear after catching an infection. Therefore your reasoning for permanent infection seems quite strange. In fact, I honestly don't think anyone would intentionally respawn UNLESS one wants to find a better spawn point (right after normal death-respawn cycle), which I wouldn't consider a major problem (even if it was a problem THIS is not the solution) now everyone chill the fuck out! -
alt+f4 fix (bodies stay as long as there are players near)
Capercaillie replied to _Profile_Shame's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
i just can't understand why is not the log off timer a good solution, to me these other suggestions often sound like complicated codework, and usually they have a major flaw already on the invention level. Why make things complicated when the answer is (probably) right under our noses. I can't find a single flaw from the disconnection timer. If you feel it is not a good solution, could you explain why? I'm not saying your ideas are bad, they just seem pretty complicated, and doesn't seem reasonable (to me atleast lol) to start actually coding them before there is a solution for the biggest what-if's in the suggested solutions. Imho, solutions should solve the problem WITHOUT adding extra problems. Dont take this shit offensively for it is definitely not meant to be offensive -

what if someone just happens to be, say 100 meters from you while you legitimately disconnect and neither of you know about each other..? What if both players disconnect, will both bodies stay in the area until the other/both are killed? Is the disconnect timer (wait xx seconds standing still after pressing abort to actually disconnect) too simple a solution? -
Learning to be stealthy WILL give you an advantage in later game, you might actually notice stalking bandits etc...

Idea seems really nice! There should be more loot locations. +1 -

If anything goes as long as it makes the game harder, then just increase the chance to get an infection.. Not some mindless "what if scenario X occurred after we throw a retarded game mechanic Y in the mod" -

interested in my age? Check my profile. Read the whole thread before making yourself seem like a douche. It's so mature to intentionally reply 100% OFF THE TOPIC with random age insults.. -

I gotta agree, you don't call ppl names but about that effort, being positive and constructive in your posts.. Man, you gotta stop telling yourself lies. No, you didn't stop reading there, you just couldn't figure out any reasonable arguments to reply. -
This game needs a punishment to being a bandit...

I murder people in day z if they come towards me, no warnings just a clean face removal. I don't consider myself a bandit, I will kill if I feel myself threatened (which I feel quite easily) some might consider me a bandit.. Anyway, as a part time murderer, even if this would make my life in day z harder, i really +1 this! Seems like a nice little add-on. I highly doubt anyone could become numb to killing, but you real life murderers probably know better than me.. ;p Edit: also the whiskey part is what seemed good to me..

I read only the first page of replies since if your mental level is "you can not disagree with anything i say here" you should not share your "opinion" to anyone else. All I see is a whiny nabcake who can't learn from his mistakes (forever-a-noob) and loyal to his previous gaming backround (cod, bf3) thinks the only solution is to go on the forums and bitch about how game mechanic X is completely ruining the game for 90% of the players. Please, grow up.

wow, this is probably the weirdest suggestion I've read on these forums. You can't seriously expect others to respect your opinions if you are being a douche yourself. You think you are being "sarcastic" with your little arguments for your suggestion, when in reality your arguments are mostly "what if...", "its not automatically a stupid idea if it's unpopular", "hurr you all just durr and derpa derp derpity derp." I don't understand the part about "respawning to avoid stuff". Does someone really respawn with mid/high game gear if they break a rib or catch an infection, or will they try to look for the cure to keep their gear? Well everyone plays the way they like, but I'd start searching for morphine, don't know about you.. To get a feeling that "the infection is always present" why just not make it spread easier... Why would you have to have it from the start, I mean that would be just anothet addition to the "get gear, go find some food and water, find weapons and ammo, oh and go find some antibiotics because you caught an infection 7 characters ago and still didn't get rid of it" why not just add a background story to all of the characters, they are all drug addicts and unless they find their daily dose of morphine their screen will shake and vision is blurred? Also add in some rocket launchers, make so that you keep your weapons when you respawn and also infinite ammo and food. So basically you will have to find those damn antibiotics to get rid of the infection you magically got from your previous character that died 15km away. That would be all about survival. I mean, it's not a bad idea if it's unpopular...? Don't compare humanity to infection, since they are not nearly on the same level. Which one do you think will more likely be the end of you? Random heartbeat you probably will never even hear since any reasonable high geared player doesn't have much trust on a makarov-wielding boom-boom-bang-bang dude and will avoid contact as much as possible, OR a random cough in the middle of an unaware zombie horde? Thought so.. Also, "it doesn't make any sense" IS NOT code for "it would be too hard". let's all spawn with infinite ammo and infinite magazines to any weapon you wish to choose as your starter weapon as you spawn. Oh, and also you will get 3 intergalactic battleships with full crew, which can nuke any specific area with laser precision. Would it make sense? Nope. Would it make the game harder in terms of survival? Also nope. If you don't know my thoughts yet: infections stay after death: no, fuck no. Infections get to you more often: no problem, tweak antibiotics spawn rate and this is ok. -
I just don't understand the frustration about this no-gun spawn? I mean, ok, it is "tougher" if you gain unwanted attention from the infected, but I haven't noticed any change in my playstyle (or any need to change it). I like to crawl alot, better not to make too much noise and draw unwanted attention. Better to be sure and go a little slower than to take a chance and be done in 1 min less time. If you hit the deck 30 meters earlier than you did until now, you will notice you have alot less zeds on your trail. It will not make your looting progress any faster in the long run. You might win a minute, but what are you gonna do about it when you are dead? Adapt to the changes, that's how you survive.

please read: matchbox spawnrate
Capercaillie replied to Azrail (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I do agree with this 100%, found a single matchbox so far and it was off a dead player (who tried to murder me but didn't know I wasn't alone..) I have never seen a house/supermarket/gas station irl without matches. This needs to be corrected. It might be a good idea to limit the number of matches in a box, but no need to "refill" the boxes, as atleast I have never fallen in love with a matchbox so much that I would move matches from other boxes to my beloved matchbox. Increase spawn rate of these important boxes (and increase it alot please)! but make sure you can only use them a few times before you have to find new one, because one thing is for sure, 99% of the players of this survival game wouldn't be able to light a fire in the woods with a single matchbox.. -
Solution For Disconnect Exploit = DEATH
Capercaillie replied to Vigil Vindex's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
haven't played for a week or so, so don't really know about this "combat icon"? Anyway, from my (long) gaming experience I feel it is the wrong way to go, especially with auto-slay when disconnecting in combat. I haven't seen a SINGLE game yet, where the combat system would ALWAYS work 100% and I'm pretty sure I will have to wait a long time before one game manages to do this. I know I would be pissed, having that combat icon on me even if the last zed encounter was well over an hour ago, and I'd really need to go... I have been to several firefights in this game, and have NEVER even thought about the option of disconnecting. Never will. In my opinion, the log-off timer is the best alternative. Start testing the timer from 30 seconds, and increase the treshold until you find a value which will get the player murdered if triggered in the middle of a firefight, but also which is not a too big value if really DISCONNECTING because you have to go. Probably something between 30-90 seconds would work for this. -
Read again mate. Ingame. Actually' date=' I have a private TS for my friends, but when I find new people to meet with I see the lack of the communication ingame. [/quote'] yeah, sorry, i misunderstood. In your first post you say you'd like to have a way to communicate ingame with your COMRADES (friends?), which is not necessary really. You don't need a separate channel for your group imho, when you can have ts/vent. I'd say focus on the relevant, make the game flawless. As for communicating with STRANGERS which is what you probably meant by comrades, yeah well idk. I'd say that a working direct is a MUST, about the side I'm not sure. It would surely increase player-player interaction, in both positive ("lets kill em zeds together") and negative ("i'm in cherno, need help badly" *ambush*") one thing's for sure, it wouldn't be realistic, but hey, its a game after all. In a way I like the game without constant shit-talk (even worse when it is in cyrillic), but on the other hand it would be nice to catch up with a total stranger and raid NW airfield. Conclusion: "teams" and "clans" should organize their own teamspeaks/ventrilos whatever, day z does not have to offer a way to talk to buddies in private. Working direct chat will surely help alot with other issues, about the side chat, I'd like to have it although its not "realistic". The issues with side chat are spamming with shit that doesn't have anything to do with day z, especially in cyrillic.

An Idea to Stop most of the PvP
Capercaillie replied to THEOTHERJESTER's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Learn to title your threads better.. To what comes to weapon sounds, yeah they could be "louder", or the zed trigger mechanism should be a little more sensitive. For the ppl who want limited pvp, go play some rpg. Imo the gain% vs. loss% there is in cooperating with a stranger is perfect as it is. Just as "realistic" as it could be, because it is all based on player interactions. The game doesn't need a separate reward-mechanism for cooperation, because it is already there. You cooperate, you will do better, sometimes it doesn't pay off and you will be left behind with a 9mm round in the kneecap for the amusement of the zombies chasing you. What makes day z so much fun is just that human element. Deal with it or go play something else. -

I sure hope that you are saying that "server hopping" is the problem here. If you seriously start explaining that there is a camper problem in day z, you can go straight back to your favorite random fps game you kid. I agree that there are problems with disconnecting/server hopping, but seriously, camping? If you didn't mean "camping" is an issue, then I apologize for my rudeness, other than that, cry about "campers" -> you should burn your pc and buy a new one when you are mentally atleast 7 years older..
