The inertia would have to be my favorite of your listings @Espa. If they could come up with a nice system, I would be more then overjoyed. Have you seen the upcoming scrum game? Not long ago they showcased their inertia system, it looks quite good. I have no doubt that a lot of what you have suggested will be coming sooner or later though but for now here is my thoughts. For me it would have to be all the little things that have some generic anim going for it or none at all. If we could eventually get unique anims for everything, this will go a long way to make it feel more alive imo. Opening my backpack. It would be awesome to swing the bag around to my front to unzip and have a peak inside when in jog mode. Walking/crouching should allow you to peak inside your bag a tad quicker, and sprinting should not allow inventory access maybe. The new player movement should allow this sort of anim as the bottom half is separated from top half shown in a lot of videos (ie; eating & walking) Eating a can of food should leave the empty in my hand letting me choose to drop it or stash it in my bag or bush, similar to the mod days. Separate the anims for these actions here would be most welcome in my book. Actually thinking about this & anims, I would go further and introduce some utensils - fork, spoon, knife etc. would be another small immersive welcome addition. Without these, you must use your hands to eat and then forcing you to wash your hands afterwards in a pond or something? That would introduce a few more anims/mechanics just for eating/cleaning. Opening doors, having my hand grab the doorknob and twist and push to open the door either inwards/outwards, fast or slow. (pretty sure something like this was talked about from devs. Also all doors will open outward not inwards towards you, game decision they have made. Would be cool to see this overturned as it could lean towards some interesting encounters and how to go about entering/exiting buildings with certain doors opening certain ways. A new slow movement mode with new player controller. The one thing I pine for is a dedicated slow, slow movement. If I am crouching around, I am trying to be quiet. Now there is times when I approach a building, and I would like to be absolute stealthy & quiet. I don't want to glitch, lightly tap w every 0.5 secs to "be quiet"! I would love it, if we could hold a key whilst walking or crouching, to slow us down by half speed, reducing footstep noise by 50+%. We would now be ultra quiet, but now a sitting duck on approach. This could apply to crouch/standing mode. On the topic of movement, it has already been asked a few hundred times but here goes. Stance animations..I do not want the carbon copy of A3 like so many others, but I do relish the idea of something that will allow us to observe over/around/under objects. As an avid user of trackir, this would be truly amazing. Something possibly like another key to push and then use your mouse movement/trackir to allow for some peeking? I don't really care how they implement this if I must be honest, it is just a feature that I think is needed. I have no doubt that the devs will introduce something similar to this when they change the controller though. Why do more work, again? I guess I could go on & on but it is all mostly the same and already suggested. Really, I am fine by anything that adds small quality of life things that sucks you in to the immersion even more.

2 Hours into the game.. I HAVE SOME QUESTIONS
nuggit replied to Aj Edwards's topic in General Discussion
Hey AJ Welcome to the forums! Sounds like you are having a blast, awesome! There is many new and exciting adventures to be had your way. There is no base building as of yet but you can make your own stash/camp by finding some barrels &/or tents and finding somewhere nice to setup. Bit more info here. -
My bean stash! It's back! I have bean hoarding these for a long time now. Beans for everyone!

Why you ask? Well this was intended. The aspect ratio has been fixed to your monitors correct aspect ratio now. There is absolutely no reason to play at an incorrect aspect ratio in dayz, It serves no purpose. Judging from the community, there was a massive amount of players who had no idea how to set it to their monitors correct ratio or just had no idea it was wrong :| If you have a 16:9 monitor, you will now have 16:9 aspect ratio in game. If you had a 4.3 monitor you would also get this ratio, but it seems you do not considering your follow up post. Why would you play at an incorrect aspect ratio if I may ask? Besides the added advantage to see or shoot people easier because they become wider targets. I am genuinely curious on the answer to this one considering the amount of screenies that show a blatant disregard to correct ratio.

Was the car by any chance next to a pine tree or something? As I don't think the oldui effects interaction getting in and out of a car, just the interaction of certain parts of the car (spark plug interaction etc) We had issues getting in the offroader a few nights ago after we stashed it next to a pine and had to chop it down to access the inside. Although this sort of made the issue worse as the car wheelied up leaving it still undriveable. After 5 minutes of shuffling tires on & off, we had her going again. Albeit on its own accord. It literally took off down the hill for nearly a whole km or so. It ruined the battery, headlight and spark plug but other than that she still drove fine. We moved on to find and fix a sedan after the lada got stolen from us a day later. After many hours last night, we successfully got everything together in pristine condition and installed. We ran into a bigger issue than a few nights before. The sedan was undriveable even though the tyres and parts were pristine. It literally would not brake, turn or reverse, just forward. We tried relogging and getting everyone to try it out, no dice. The car was just bugged and nothing we did fixed it. It was painful after all that time searching. We just abandoned ship and left her there as time had gotten away. I haven't been back on to see if it is still there, but if it is, I will probably destroy it when I jump back on just to get another one spawning on the map for others to play with.

Hi Stryker The ui icons are cosmetic only at the moment. They do not update real time and give no indication where your stats are at. It is best to keep an eye out for the pop up messages letting you know if you are hungry or thirsty. I have been keeping myself stuffed mostly to stay out of trouble :) Whyherro, the newui has increased my minimum fps all over chernarus. My gpu load has doubled whilst in the major cities (30-50% usage) and I have not dropped below 30 fps anywhere on the map. Apparently I know that guy ;)

A 26+ second intro is to long, and the intro theme is quite generic (almost everyone doing yt uses this style of intro with the dayz logo). If you want to have a longer video like this and attain your viewers attention throughout the entire duration, a quick recap/storytelling helps with this. I personally find pure pvp videos that do not keep me engaged, very boring, and quite often find myself closing the video. PvP videos are all well and good, but if it is purely action that the content creator wants to include, concentrate on this. The inbetween stuff does not matter as much, unless you are trying to give some backstory or something. Usually videos this length, have some sort of story to follow. I find many, many content creators become emotionally invested in their plays/videos that they have their own feelings watching their own videos back. As you become emotionally invested, you get your own skewed view on things. Music, the bane of all dayz videos. I personally find a lot of dayz videos uses the same music as everyone else. Like the intro, I find the most uniquie tubers have their own spin on things and leaves a lasting impression. Take it with a pinch of salt, it is just my thoughts. Keep up the editing and recording, experiment and find your own unique spin on things. You only get better with practise

Problem with a key assignment

Hey dude, This piped my interest, so I had a dig around in my config for you, to see if I could nail down this issue. First thing, there is a line in Controls/Development/Last help bound to H. Unbind this first. With the latest 0.57 patch, we also had a new introduction to the inventory system, which brought a new line to the profile.cfg. This new line is bound to H, this needs to be unbound from the config in order for you to use your H key again. To find out the number to any key, just bind the key you want to be used, into a bind you know in game/controls. ie; Turbo. Then just open up your cfg again and see what number it was given. Just remember to use a bind that you will not use, that is not clashing into keyMoveItemFromHandsToInventory[]={} Edit: forgot to mention. Once you have finished and happy with all binds and settings in game. R-click your config and mark as Read Only. -
 I am sure if you bothered to do any research, you would have discovered this. On a positive note, all is not lost on you. Bootcamp

I started with daizy on my old imac, as I had no internet back then. I drooled for dayz and had no idea what I was getting myself into. Without this, I doubt I would have taken the steps into the world of pc. It even nudged me to tailor my experience and learn some modding too. It was an absolute brilliant start to my fascination with Bohemia titles. Odin Lowe made some very good points. When I first started in daizy, the gunshots that flew over my head made no difference to the ones I receive today in dayz standalone. To some, the experience may seem hollow, but rest assured there is a bigger picture in all this. Anyway, we don't have single player yet. Lets see how it pans out before we pull out the pitchforks. For giggles. A 2010 imac and daizy ran at steady 60+fps the whole time, without needing to tweak extra files or anything silly like downgrading to nes graphics.

Hi guys, I sent emu a pm, as I had a few thoughts of my own, as I recently encountered this very thing, when introducing a friend to pc & bohemia titles. We tested in Dayz & Arma 3, and the issue was always the same. Slow movement. It actually stems from getting an average of 8-10 fps. When you start to run in the single digits as an average, it impacts the users movements ie; moving slower than everyone else. Unfortunately for those that cannot tweak their settings further to average a rate of 15-20 fps, will have to wait for further optimisations from the engine. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Emu - to your question about fast forward. Fast Forward bind allows you to sprint with one key pressed down without needing to hold W as well. ie; I bind my Fast Forward to my mouse button side, and I only have to click this to sprint

OP, you are bored, and wondering what else there is to do? You enjoy pvp, but can't be bothered to gun up, but rather suicide to get closer. You really gotta work for what you want, if you want it bad enough! Do you really want to try other things in this game? It sounds like you don't, especially if you prefer ruining others playtime. Without the need to ask in this topic, you know this is a sandbox game, and the possibilities end with your imagination. You choose what you want to do. But if you are really wondering on what else to do... I could suggest a lovely hike up into the northern regions of Chernarus and get some fresh air. Go for a little sight seeing, appreciate the scenery, take it all in. There are some memorable spots in game, and makes it even more worth it when you discover it by yourself without some online aid. Learn to read your surroundings, without a map, find out how to navigate properly. It's quite a change from the coastal wars and is quiet relaxing. Not every ones cuppa though Have a fancy for some fresh game? Put aside your morning to go do some hunting and stalking. Sit and study their movement, watch how they react to the environment, and your movement. Be patient, learn to be invisible & how to approach game without the need to resorting to firearms. This is a challenge in itself. Fancy some role playing? Eh, probably not but you can find yourself engaging some wonderful & wacky scenarios and the people you find, may just take your mind away from your gun long enough to have a laugh. If you don't like the sounds of any of this, how about. Infiltrate a whole city, clear it out, hold it down & setup some ambush points with some inescapable traps. Have your way with them if you must. Scare & torture them. Just make sure they remember you. Give them an experience, a story to walk away from. At least make it interesting, for both parties. Now is the time to have fun & experiment with, not get stuck in a rut and play the same way in & out every day. If you don't have fun one way, try another.

Only If you happen to be staying on the coast, you will struggle. food is scarce, as it has all been picked and this will only get worse with the re introduction of our beloved central loot economy. If you know where, and have the right tools. Hunting then becomes possible on the coast as well, another option if you must hang around there. Try scavenging some fresh fruit from some apple orchids or some berry bushes. It doesn't take much to get enough into you to venture away from the hell we call the coast. Plan your route, and do not sprint around everywhere aimlessly looking for loot. Time is precious and needs to be spent wisely at the start of your life, if you wish to hold onto it. By all means, come back to the coast once you gear up and get healthy to do as you wish. Just know, living on the coast is always a short lived one regardless of your status. Now if by any chance you are inland and still struggling, and indeed have 400 hours in game not just on the coast death matching. You should know, there are plenty of animals around to hunt and setup a little retreat to cook up a huge feast. You should have a good indication of where to hit up with the knowledge gained off that many hours. As I said above, running around erratically looting is no good whilst your in this stage. it needs to be planned or a rough idea of where to set out too. Also If you dislike the post processing, like many do. Just simply disable it. This will get rid of your blurry screen, and colour loss that happens after taking damage or blood loss. It will make life easier if you find it unplayable. The game is not getting more unplayable due to food getting harder, rather the opposite. You need to adapt your thinking and game plan as we move further along in development. I can tell you, a lot of people's play style will be hampered and a bad time will arise, if you do not start adapting with the game now.

So close! :beans: for the effort

Hi Gammbet As others have explained already. There is no need for launch parameters anymore. It causes more harm than good these days. https://twitter.com/eugenharton/status/570650864047824896?s=09 https://twitter.com/eugenharton/status/570649299626954753 https://twitter.com/eugenharton/status/570697299799764992
