OVERHEATING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ironhuge replied to wampa's topic in General Discussion
HI ME AND ALL FELLOW SURVIVORS DON'T REALLY LIKE CAPS-LOCK AND WE DO UNDERSTAND THAT YOU "UNDER [space] STAND" THAT THE GAME IS STILL IN ALPHA "THX YOU". -
That was not the point :)
-
lol :D Jokes aside, any AMD FX 8-core will do, even the budget ones. But I agree, the problem is that OP is running AMD Athlon, which are many generations old. DayZ is still not utilizing GPU fully instead of CPU.
-
So, this never happened? All I see are 15 servers in total, filter min 0, max 0, ping 0, full x, batteleye default. Also "Connection failed".
-
This is what I was the most afraid of. If this only applies to one type of zombie, it's a bug. But if it is what I am thinking, they have lowered the render distance so much for performance gains that it will literally not show anything but terrain and objects beyond that distance. Have you tested this with players? I'd hate to run in a forest and not be able to see players in a town, unfortunately I have not been able to connect to any .6 servers because fuck players *amiright?*, but the render distance was one of the first thing I was gonna test.
-
I've got the ping setting to 2000, password protected unchecked. Three .6 server are showing. two of them are password protected and the third is of wrong version.
-
Cant find a single .6 server... Also, server listing is terrible. Learn your devs to use threads/subprocesses. UI is locked every refresh............................................................................................................ I thought you guys didnt want to release 0.6 until it was working somewhat OK, this is just terrible and the optimizations you've done in this engine is WORSE than the original game. I don't see how this have the potential to become anything better than the previous renderer. AMD FX Am3+ 8370 BE nVidia Geforce Gigabyte Windforce GTX 770 (4GB) 16GB DDR3 1866 My FPS in dayz is somewhere between 2.75 on minute average. And thats in the menu background render, gonna be interesting to see how it works in-game, once i find a server that actually works. AND THE TEST SERVERS ARE PASSWORD PROTECTED.... TOOK ME LIKE 10 minutes to list the servers, and then once I tried to connect to a PUBLIC category server, it refused me and now I have to re-list all servers before I can try to click the next server... Interesting.

All though i think it's nice you guys are aiming towards 1:1 rendering I feel the main questions are being overseen. The questions is not about FPS, its cool that it stays above 30, but it's still low. Being "the first iteration" I guess time will allow for better performance as you guys work on things, but FPS is not interesting as far as game-play goes (FPS is something obvious, ofc. you guys cannot settle for a game that doesn't play smooth). If this game was Counter-Strike or Call of Duty, FPS is game-breaking, but not in DayZ. As long as the games run smooth everywhere, we're fine. The real questions are; Rendering distance, night-time, ambient life and stuff like that. In the new rendering engine, the textures still wait to go high-res until aprox. 20m away, what this means is that if you sit in a bush and think you are hidden from anyone - the fact is that you are not. Also, rendering issues of details like trees, walls and windows still remains. Yes, you guys said 1:1 ratio, but surely DirectX api's must have better ways of handling stuff like this? Also, it looks like the overall rendering distance (from the first section of the movie) is just a couple of hundred meters. This wont work for snipers or regular survivors scouting towns before going in. Are we going to see work on these areas as well? This is not a rant! I just want to ask the REAL questions.

I think he is referring to the "darkness" of it all. Though there are differences, it actually looks like you see "less" in the new rendering engine. I think most of us was under the impression that night-time would be "nerfed" to prevent gamma/brightness hackers. Though I have my hopes up that the next couple of iterations will fix this! :)
-
Thank you for understanding the point of this thread!
-
It's the old renderer with high gamma. Also, you clearly see the "darkness calibration issues" on textures.
-
Yeah, that's what I do :D "Update coming next week" is what I'm translating into "Update coming next month" automatically. Nothing against it, just the way one learns to interpret BI/DayZ developers.
-
Ow, cool dude, did you also read the disclaimer? It specifically told you not to buy the game. But since you are here posting i bet you didn't understand what that meant :)

Water looks sick! Good job guys and merry x-mas and happy new year!

Mods are fun from time to time, but as with the original dayz mod it only made the player base scattered. My team had a lot of fun with the original mod until branches started to emerge, when some of us preferred vanilla, others turned to Epoch, one completely went lone wolf in Origins. All this resulted in all of us going back to games where everyone had to play the same game, no DayZ at all. I want the good old days back when everyone played the same branch, and servers where populated. With mods you get half decent servers only half populated because there are too many options. That being said, I hope modding comes to DayZ SA, but only after a couple of years have passed so that the main game gets it's attention it needs. If modding is out a couple of months after the game release, I'm afraid that SA will go down the drain almost instantly and cannot recover from the current loss of players.

Would it be possible for any of the devs to post a screen-shot or something from the WIP render engine?
-
I'm crossing fingers in hope that the devs are actually producing a entirely new game on the side, using the early access as a feature request and platform to keep the public busy. Let the h8rs h8 on me, but I really do think this game has been discarded.
-
Ohh my, you are so blind - go on now, you have no solid arguments. As stated before, I bet the PC market is much more profitable for companies in terms of actual sales. But Microsoft and PlayStation spends huge amounts of money so that titles are release on their platforms too, or probably even more common; pay a hell lot more to get a year exclusive. It's not about piracy, its about who pays the most - end customers or big companies. In most cases, its big companies.
-
My god, the one game (arma) I actually liked is getting a PS4 release? This is the end of my gaming era. Welcome aim smoothing, poor performance (even worse), bad graphics, aim assist, net code issues, 60FOV limit, end of simulation etc etc. I know it's because of money, but why do all the companies have to have StupidStation/lameBox releases? PC gaming is deteriorating while consoles get to live on last decades technology... Also inb4 "consoles are good today" and "consoles is not slowing down the evolution".

They never did :D They probably sucked so much they realized they could never kill him while running :D

"THIS IS FOR PIG" :D I imagine it with the voice of the russian fighter from Rocky :D Good read

All though I agree with all other points you made, this one just fucked it all up. I believe EA would have fucked it all up even worse -

That is not how things work. If a developer team of X number of members are working on a project have the opportunity to push experimental patches to public where bugs will be found exponentially faster, that is the way to go. If you want to play stable, stay on stable. There is a reason for experimental being experimental... How do you think bugs are found? By a couple of people testing a software from bugs? No, the guys working on it are the wrong people to test for bugs, since they know how it all should be working, and not how we make it work. I'm a software developer myself and I know how blind one can get from knowing how stuff is supposed to be used. -

I must say that alpha got a hell lot more fun with cars (my fav is the bmw e30), up until now I've missed finding spare-parts and repairing. Hopefully there will be helis soon too! I like that some car keys have radio unlocking, so you can unlock the car while running towards it. Come join the experimentals and drag race with me on the coast of chernarus.
