You don't opt-in for it. Opt-out of betas and steam will update dayz to 1.7.7. This took me a while to discover since every other patch has been listed under betas.

In my opinion this patch enables more PVP since you need to do everything in your power to get your hands on that antibiotics. I really don't see the problem here. All of you guys want PVP, and this patch literary requires you to kill everyone to loot their body for foods and antibiotics. Do you guys want everything served on a plate? Like one of those medic-crates found in hospitals? Nah, that is just the easy way out. Get your hands dirty and kill that m4 dude or stab the fresh spawn just leaving the hospital. Srsly, you guys complaining will ruin this game because the only voices heard is you... Everyone else is busy playing and wont even know why 1.7.8 brings rainbows, flowers and zombies that want to cuddle instead of eat you.

Nah, you need to read the updated version: * [FIXED] - FUN

I think its just called arma2, or maybe the mod wasteland.
-
Really? :D Who would have thought that a survival game with zombies would be hard? Something must be wrong here...

I guess they need to learn to hunt. Hunting knifes are available in next to any industrial building, hatchet as well (the one item that is pretty hard to find is matches). Once set, find a water bottle, tin can (available everywhere) and start boiling and you are good to go virtually indefinitely. Also, I've found that soft drinks and canned food can easily be found in house entrances (not enter-able) and small dog houses. It seems that the super markets are less attractive nowadays in my opinion, so just expand your views and you'll find it's not that hard. Just some tips.

+1 on the melee suggestion. It is impossible to use melee weapons without dropping primary. My vote goes to a 3'rd melee slot where bat, hatchet, machete etc etc can be scroll-selected just like switching to sidearm. This would help a lot now since looting is much harder. I wasted all my 3 stanag-mags when 30 zombies cornered me in a barn :D (btw, I've got food and drinks to last me days now ;))

I think everything is perfect. The community however is not. Players have to learn to adapt and change gameplay tactics - that is part of the fun. In 1.7.6.1, if you just stayed mobile you'd have no problems running through a mob of 10 zeds - now you will be pushed over and if you get surrounded by zeds your dead. This is how it should be! Now there's a challenge, before you didn't even care for zeds. I like how antibiotics is rare, it makes you more careful. One of my teammates hate the new patch because you get infected too easy and pushed over waay too easy. This is just because he has learned to expect to be able to run between zeds without any penalty. I however am a bit more careful and prepare for anything, i stay away from zeds and only risk taking that extra can of beans if i feel that it is safe enough. Loosing zeds are no problem at all. Sure, we got hunted down by zeds during infection and almost lost our lives and had to shoot us out of the forest just next to mogilevka - but it is a friggin survival game! Most of the time you run through 3-4 bushes and zeds lose you. Don't change a thing! If anything you could up the antibiotic loot a notch or two, but don't make it too available!! I liked how we had to run through entire cherno for 2 packs of antibiotics. Makes it more interesting and I'm always nervous not to find any antibiotics - that'll be my death sentence. Keep it up! Only downside is the frame-drop, but I have confidence in you fixing it! Don't lose interest due to some kids in the forums not willing to change!

During 1.7.6.1 my frame-rate in NWA drifted between 50-70, but now in 1.7.7 i've dropped to about 20-23 FPS. Whats up with that? The graphics is much more blurry now, the FXAA setting doesn't do much either - nor does any other setting.
-
Am I the only one more interested in the development of the mod instead of the standalone? I'm more eager to see 1.7.7 than I am to see standalone.

I bet you're pretty new to DayZ, but your "member since" states otherwise - I seriously hope not that your just another troll. If you'd been playing the last couple of months and could really see the difference and the recent "number of player" drop you'd realize that "blaming it on their so called friends" is pretty legit. -

Nope, I totally agree that BP and Origins are very different, both in relative terms to each other - but to Dayz Mod vanilla as well. I'm say that people turn to these mods since 1.7.7 has been slowed down due to the fact that some dude that is not even involved with the community build anymore had to climb Everest. The mod should be able to evolve even though the SA is being developed which is not part of the community build. I personally hate all the other mods based on DayZ, but I'm the only one among my circle of friends. Soon I just have to either stop playing DayZ or start playing another DayZ mod - since I seriously doubt that even 20% of my friends will return to the original DayZ mod when 1.7.7 is released. I'm not saying months are outrageous for a substantial update, but I see plenty of things on the changelog that could have been rolled on a regular basis to let the audience know that stuff actually happens. Wanting the game to keep living is totally different from your false impression and prejudices about all forum posters. -
Well, the stupid thing is that it only looks cool since so many players idolize the commentators and gameplay streamers. It's like apple products, you see a TV star using an iphone and suddenly its sooo good, and sooo nice looking and sooo awesome. The only thing that makes it all that is because people talk about it. In my opinion 'onPC' is stupid, since games should by default be played on PC, not xbox or ps4. Full HD should be a standard by now and thus making 'in1080p' redundant and inefficient when the audience has to include it in the search criteria.

Ohh, look - is this game still active or what? Seems like MONTHS since the last community update. More and more people turn to other versions of DayZ like Origins or Breaking point... I hate this! I'm the only one left in my circle of friends that still play the original DayZ mod... Just roll 1.7.7 already so you don't lose more players. -
What? Google Translate not has bad grammar! ;)

How can you guys not discuss what Ivan says right before he gets jumped?!?!? I want more info on that statement! "and i hope to see you on the new version of Chernarus later this week...". -
That my friend is what malicious & bloat software do.
-
I'm under the impression that everything died since the last devblog. What is happening? When can we expect any new information about the 1.7.7 community build or for that matter the SA progress?
-
We can only hope :)
-
I'd say; buy the operation arrowhead mod and play DayzMod, we don't even know if the SA ever will be released anyway. I'm pretty sure nothing will be released in June, without deadlines nothing is ever going to be ready - so my bet is that SA will be discarded.
-
Why, AFAIK rocket is not even a part of the community build anymore? Right back at ya! That is pretty ignorant to miss that no official channel or even pinned thread states that the 1.7.7 patch will be released after rockets return from everest. I'm also getting tired of all mods and devs stating "the SA will be released when it is ready". I'm a developer my self and I can surely say that without a deadline nothing will be ready. There will always be more work to be done and to ignore the "customers-to-be" is simply not a good sell tactic. Thank you, I'll make sure to read that thread.

I'd say withSix and Commander is terrible recommendations. These software are true bloats and contribute to next to no actual ease of process. withSix crashes your connection every other second and Commander makes you rip your hair out. The only "hard" parts with using steam as the DayZ booter is: 1. right-clicking DayzMod in the steam library list and selecting "1.7.6.1" and installation of Operation Arrowhead Beta (in steam) 2. Downloading the correct Beta-patch executable from http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php 3. Right click Dayz Mod in steam library and chose "Play with Beta patch". I don't see why people insist on installing trouble bloatwares like withSix and Commander.
