No offense, but read my post again. I don't like when people make games to science. PR? Like I said who cares about PR? If the game is good nobody will give a sh*t about what he wrote, said or did. Dean is able to make a good game and in the end everyone here will play it anyway even if they say "Oh I hate this won't play this game after he said that". It is not about me attached to a game, it is about me hating people who think you could make a game with statistics, mathematical formulars and PR. It is about the vision Dean has and the talent to get the vision on screen. In that respect he is a genius. So now Dean is supposed to pay for a PR manager even if it is obvious that he does not need one? Waste of money. I understand that you think PR is important for DayZ, but at this point it is simply not. -

I hate it when people try to make games to science. Games are art and Dean definitly knows his talent. If you have a good game you don't need PR, best example is the DayZ mod. Do you think Dean was thinking about what he wrote back then? He is not doing it now and hell who cares if he ever will. We just want a good game. -

Someone is getting agressiv, always a good sign that you are on the right track. :D - we did fly with choppers (if that is going to be that easy in SA we don't know yet), and did you fly a real helicopter ever? In DayZ you definitly going to die if you did never fly before and try it, so there is that. - there is no other gameplay solution to that problem - there is no other gameplay solution to that problem - " - " - this is going to change in SA - this is going to change in SA Problem solved, you can't change what you can't change. But what you can change is freakin unrealistic houses with are totally OP and give bandits no chance to win. Actually it is destroying much opportuinity for gameplay. What if a player wants to be a thief? No he cant because the freakin fortress is unenterable. As you failed to see is that there will be no on ground bases in the SA anyway. Hope you have that in mind while writing your next post. ;) DayZ mod is old now. DayZ SA will, as I said really often now, be different in terms of difficulty and survivial. -

So wait now, does that mean that the release is not coming soon? He told us mid august in worst case scenario. What I really think, I could be wrong and I like Dean but I really think so, is that he just got the reactions from the E3. People said the animations look bad, the zombies are weird etc. Week after that he started to do motion capturing. Before that he told everyone that the alpha will be JUST something for real hardcore players. I think he changed his opinion and actually wants to release it for everyone even in the alpha. Maybe he is afraid of bad publicity. I don't know, I just hope he did not change the release date. Don't get me wrong I want a good alpha too, but the problem is the more features he adds to the game. The more animation stuff he is doing the more will later be removed or replaced. I really don't think they are just working on the game to get it working, it more seems he is getting the game ready for the public. But we hardcore players just need a game which is playable. From that point we give feedback and Dean can add more features, new animations etc. We dont need the fancy stuff for the beginning, we just need a game that works. I really dont believe they are 100% working on that. And this is kind of sad (I dont know any other word for it sorry ^^). Like I said, give us something that runs decent on our computers, we give you feedback and based on that you can add new features. -

1. But we are not talking about DayZ mod are we? We are talking about the SA in which the houses will be enterable. DayZ is getting more and more authentic, and not less. 2. So what should a clan do? Being alone on a server? Tell me a reason why not make the bases enterable with enough effort? If you build a house with much effort why can't I break into it with much effort? It just does not make any sense. If you have a big clan (which you would need to build such a stronghold) you would have to guard this stronghold constantly. Get 100 people in your clan and lets roll. Maybe like 1-2 hour shifts, everyone has to do it once a week. Hate the idea of unrealistic unbreakable doors. 3. There will be no chopper scanning anymore. DayZ SA will change immensly the gameplay. There will be no 99999 AS50 in the game, the players will be lucky as hell if they get even 1. The problem is that there will be not much loot and as soon as players start to collect weapons and ammo the game starts to get unbalanced. It will result in the same problem, 9999 AS50s for everyone. Or, if Dean restricts the number, it will be unbalanced because the clan guys will have all AS50 of the server in their bunker. (I know there won't be any AS50s in SA, just an example) 4. I don't think DayZ wants to be a zombie novel, it reminds me more of The Road or maybe 28 Days later. Sure in the mod the Zods are no problem, but this could chance immensly in the SA. I also think that zombies will get secondary after a while, but maybe we are wrong. What if it's really hard to find ammo. What if the Zombies actually can get you while you are running. What if the zombies will be a threat? Then you have to sneak around, shooting another player in a city could mean nothing less but your own death. Maybe all of this will change, we don't know yet. 5. Dont compare Football manager with DayZ please. I know people, and I know lot of them got bored because there was no end game. Like I said I think this will change dramaticly in SA, because everything will be controlled by a main server. No 500 DMRs, no 5 mags for your weapon, no 999 morphines and bandages. You actually will have to fight for it. Also DayZ SA gives us way more things to do than just building a house. 6. ... 7. Like I said before you cannot compare the mod with the SA. Gameplaystyle will change. I think there will be many, many people that will be really disappointed because it will be too hard to survive. 8. Who would dominate the servers. 9. Unrealistic was the wrong word, I meant unauthentic. Having something that is undestroyable is ridicilous. So I cant open your door with blowing a improvised explosive on it? But the discussion is senseless. Dean already said there wont be any houses etc to build on the ground. He is thinking about an underground system, but nothing more. -

I don't know if Dean realises it but this bandit system is just making it worse. Once you get a bandit (no matter is you killed in self defense or not) you have a hard time getting a survivor. You shoot on sight because you know everyone will shoot you on sight. Bandit systems are not preventing people from getting bandits, they actually create the bandits. Just the most stupiest system I ever saw in a MP game. ^^ -

I dont really care about new features, for me the most important things are: - MMO architecture (better performance, no laggy deaths) - loot spawns by global server and is rare - player is now serverside, no combat logging - enterable houses - more zods, more players - clothing you can choose to wear That's pretty much it. Awesome as hell, for me there could be just makarovs and AK74s in the alpha I dont really care. -
Haha, and I thought I were the only one xD I think the adrenalin is coming if you are playing alone. Because most of the times playing with friends I am not that afraid. I don't know why, but DayZ is, like you said, still creeping me out sometimes. Even after player more than a year it is shocking and andrenalin. So who else got this? 1. I don't think that the look of a gun is more important than decent FPS 2. DayZ mod is nothing compared to SA in terms of surviving, now it actually has a proper health system, the items are rare and spawned by a global server. And lions? Are you kidding me? How do you explain a lion in chernorgsk? It escaped a zoo? 3. But we are not in a Kalahari desert. There are broken glasses on the streets, rocks, things that will hurt you. Besides that the people in the Kalahari desert are walking bare foot their entire life. Go out and try it out. Running 2 hours without shoes on the streets. It will take you months or years to actually get decent feet. Your feet were wearing shoes their wholes lifes. 4. I don't think you will find these motorbike helmets everywhere, but DayZ is supposed to be authentic, and do you really think you would find army helmets everywhere? Probably there will be army helmets, but finding a motorbike helmet is much more likely. And nobody is forced to use the radios, if nobody uses them they will probably removed from the game. 5. Choose a class in DayZ and unlock clothes? Dude, this game is about finding your clothes, it is about being who you want without restrictions. There are simply no classes needed, because you can create your own by doing what you want and wearing what you want.

There are many reasons why I don't like the idea of secure houses: 1. It would be unathentic as hell if there were houses you could not enter at any way 2. players can get really dominating and other players on the server have no chance against them because they save their progress 3. what dayz is all about is that you can lose everything, build a house and you have saved, no need to be afraid of anything, the core of dayZ dies 4. as you are not afraid of anything you will go and hunt players for fun, trolling and other stuff 5. there would be a real end game, after a while players would have 0 things to do because they have everything saved in a base (saw that happen to a LOT of players in DayZ mod) 6. players who play alone have probably no chance to get a house, big groups with houses though can find your tent and take everything to their base 7. players who are not afraid of death will just run around and ruin the expirience for many players because they actually want to play it proper 8. the houses were more like a end game for the mod, but SA will be VERY different from the mod. Like Dean said the items will be WAY harder to find, it will be WAY harder to survive. So in that sense you don't even need the end game, if surviving is really that hard in SA 9. building houses is really unrealistic, who would build a house in a zombie apokalypse? There won't be houses in DayZ SA anyway, Dean talked about underground bases with security system. I like that idea that you can make your own security system so other players can hack it. -
I read a topic in the graveyard, and after playing DayZ more than a year now I totally disagree with the opinion that we play DayZ because we want to feel superior. Actually, in my opinion it is even way more fun if you don't feel superior. Killing a whole team with high end gear, just using an enfield, that is DayZ for me. Why we don't play Arma 2 normally? Well, there is one simple answere to that, we don't want to lose the gear. This is one of the key features of DayZ, you die and your character and all his gear dies with it. This is the concept that keeps us playing DayZ on and on and on. In Arma 2 you actually don't have to be afraid of killing, as result of that killing another player is nothing special. Actually it is quite boring. DayZ kind of spoiled me for other shooters, they are not exciting. The PVP in DayZ is probably the most special in gaming history, because you are actually afraid to die. You actually think about what you do, you also interact with other players. It is not just the "Kill or be killed" it is just "survive and get your gear". Every single mistake you make can ruin hours and days of collecting gear. Shooting bambies in cherno with a DMR or AS50, just boring as hell. What is the point in that? However, I love there are these people who do that, because of the simple reason I can hunt them down and take their gear. (and mostly that happens because people sniping bambies in cherno are not really good at the game) The topic really provocated this reaction, because I totally disagree with what this one person tries to tell us. You can not say everyone is like you because you have some reason. Me for example I dont enjoy sniping bambies, I enjoy actually hunting the killers, hunting people who have better weapons than me. I don't feel any sort of success after killing some bambie with a DMR. The topic I refer to was moved to graveyard because the creator actually did not want to discuss it. If you can build houses in this game other players should be able to get in! I have the idea of saving items forever, it makes the game really boring. And bulding proper houses is really unauthentic, I mean who the hell would build a house in a zombie apokalypse? Find a good house and luife there, that's it. Actually you would have to wander anyway because of food etc. But like I said, if SA has building houses or underground bases other people really should be able to get in there. The harder it gets to build the house, the harder it should get to get into the house -
Guys you can't compare Rust to DayZ. DayZ is running on an proper Engine which took years to develop. Sure there are few things in rust that are cool, but I would even hate them in DayZ. Building your house? What the fuck man who has time and energie to build house made out of wood in a zombie apokalypse? Rust is like minecraft + zombies. DayZ is a authentic zombie survival game. No, DayZ is THE authentic zombie survival game. Sure, if there were a developer like Ubisoft, EA or I don't know who would invest much money into such a project they MAYBE could do it better. But I don't think you realise why DayZ is so successful. It is not just the concept but also the Arma 2 ENgine. You all are whining about it, it is really bugged, but ask yourself. Would DayZ be the same with an Battlefield Engine? Shooting easy as fuck, sniping easy as fuck, reactiontime unrealistic as fuck. Arma 2 Engine was almost the best you could choose because it is actually a simulator. It is authentic. Sure someone could make a better Engine, but at this point there isn't. Try to run a DayZ Game that authentic on the Cryengine or Frostbite, it would smash your computer in bits, regardless how much power you have.

I actually can't find any servers that play ArmA 2 properly. I just find these real life bullshit thing where you are takistan police or something. -.- But I played Arma 2 with respawns, anyway even if you die for the rest of the mission (which is pretty cool) you did not lost anything. In DayZ you lose gear you searched for hours, that is not the case in Arma 2. You just want to win, it is like search & destroy in CoD just on a way bigger map.

Sure there are these concept, even minecraft had it. But it is not even close to how DayZ handles with it. In DayZ it is 1 second and you are dead. You don't even know how you died. You are under constant stress because you know exactly you could lose all your gear every single second. It is how fast it goes. This video is in my opinion really representive for that: It is the "Oh sh*t!" - *You are dead* which is so threatening to the player. I don't know about Eve oder Mortal ONline, but I know that DayZ is the first game where everyone is talking about the death. Everyone is talking about how the f*ck he was afraid of when he had his first encounter with good gear. Everyone is talking about how frustrating the death is. Never heard any of that in that form in any other game. Let me ask you a question, do you shout "FRIENDLY FRIENDLY!!" in Eve Online? Do you betray people after playing hours with them? Are your hands shaking because you are afraid that the 5 bandits who surrounded you will kill you? Informed myself about EVE Online. Looks really good, gonna take the trial to play it. Play 5 years and losing everything is sure more frustrating than DayZ, but I think it is something different. But, as you can see, EVE ONline is a very special game, and DayZ is too. Both of them have freedom and you lose EVERYTHING with your death. One mistake cost you EVERYTHING. And this is exactly what makes DayZ special, and it is also what makes EVE Online special. Mortal Online looks awful, but I thought about it a time ago. A game in a fantasy setting + concept of DayZ would be a great success. The first developer who will be brave enough to do this, will get really rich, I can ensure that.

I am not superior in the sense that I have the upper hand, I am maybe smarter, more expirienced and skilled. But what the topic creator of the other thread tried to state was that it is actually fun to have the better gear and than kill the people. So in the sense being superior not as a player but as a force. <_<

Actually I like the ideo of Oak, make sure Dean reads that. A release on friday would be way better than one on monday.
