When did I say I would try to prove something with videogames? I was strictly talking about Dean Rocket Hall and his passions. And you are wrong again, Dean Rocket Hall is not making this game to feed the casual gamers, like I said he is doing that for the hardcore gamers. If he didn't, holy sh*t are you even reading what I write, if he didn't he would make the game simply into a deathmatch, because that is what most people enjoy. That is simply a fact, no matter what you have to say or what you weird theories are. The vast majority should never be ignored, but if the vast majority does not say anything, they have no right to interrupt our polls. Like I said, we are here, we give the feedback, we have the right to vote. If a casual gamer wants to vote he can do that anytime. But he isn't, he does not care about it, so what the hell is your problem? He is not voting, so obviously he does not care about it. But we do care about the game, we want it to be good and just because some people who don't vote (and you don't even know their opinion about this matter, because FPS are obviously always casual pro) what we say is worthless? We know what is best for the game, I am sorry for you but like I said the hardcore gamers made the game, and we will be the people who give the feedback in the standalone, not the casual gamer who don't give a flying f*ck about it. And again, unexploitable third person view? There is simply no unexploitable third person view because you always are able to see behing a corner, and this is where 90% of the exploits are going on. Try to fix what you cannot fix, like I said there is no f*cking way to fix it. There just isn't.

You got me wrong again. I was not talking about political "democracy", actually that is no real democracy. No, here is how it works: People vote, the thing which got the most votes is rule. Simple. But, here is the important part, so read careful I will not write this again. We are the community, I don't give a single f*ck about the million other players. We are the ones who made DayZ to what it is today. We have earned our right to vote, we have earned the right to be heard out. We are not just some hardcore fans, without us this game would simply not exist. Who do you think makes the advertisment? Who do you think gives the feedback? Who do you think Dean is developing this game for? If it was for those 12 years old kids, having no idea about the real DayZ, there would be no DayZ Standalone with any survival aspects. Why should Dean make the weapons and the ammo rare? Why would he make the game harder to survive? Why would he do that if the huge majority of the players actually plays on servers with 10.000 cars, 500 helis and AS50s in every single building? Tell me, why would he do that? I don't care if you believe it and I don't care if you can understand that, but Dean is truly making this game for us, for the hardcore gamers. If he were not doing it for us, the game would look completly different. That is not just some theory or some market strategy of Dean, it is simply the truth. If Dean was about to make money with this game, he would have had a PR guy a long time ago. He would have never made the game into a hardcore survival game. He would have never taken the options to control the loot as admins. He would have never argued with some totally "irrelevent" people on reddit. Dean Rocket Hall is one of the few developers out there who is strictly following his vision and his fans. He is talking to his fans. He climbed mount everest risking his life. He joined the army. You know what you call such a person? Idealist. I know it may sound weird to you, but there are people out in the world who have other things in mind than money, houses and big cars. People who find their sense in life in other things. Like climbing on the biggest mountain on earth. Like risking your life in combat for your comerades and for the people. Like creating something you just want to create. These people don't give a single f*ck about PR or good marketing. These people actually are one of the few people on this earth who understand that it is not important how rich a human is or how many people know you. The real value of a human lies in his acts. What a human does in his life, that is what defines him. That is the true value of life. The things you do are in the end the things which will define you as a human. I am 100% positive that Dean Rocket Hall is on of these people. And if you are a materialist, and believe me sadly the majority of the humanity is like that, you will probably never understand that. I don't want to insult you and I think it is totally ok to be a materialist, because the human is made like that. But really, if you don't get what I just wrote you probably have to face that you are one of them.

Nope. No, I don't think so and many other people (2504 to be exact) have the same opinion. I don't think they need my guidance. You are takting about dictatory, but we have polls. This is actually democracy, everyone who does not bother to vote does not give a f*ck about it. So what? Now, how does it work in democracy? The people who vote, vote. That's it. The results are then used to do whatever the majority which voted wants. So get the hell out with your "majority" of players, because the majority of the voters, and that is what counts (this is the case in democracy, too), does not want third person.
-
Sorry, I tried to explain it to you. Maybe some other of the 2000 people will explain it to you, I have no time for this. ^^
-
Because people tend to take the most easiest path, the most secure. And that is without doubt third person. But, all the people realise that actually first person is much more immersive and enjoyable. Even me, I don't play on first person servers, because I know there are no good ones. But as you see in the polls the people just want to get rid of the third person because they tend to go on it. It is like fast food, you know it is bad for you but it tastes good so you eat it. However a real meal made by yourself is much more delicious and satisfactory, plus it is way more healthy. But if you give the people fast food on the table, they won't bother to make their own food, why if they got fast food infront of them? Do you get my point? I think if people would not be ambitious and greedy there would be no war. However, in that case we would still live like apes. ;)
-
Well, I think most of us don't play because the game is a deathmatch anyway. We just wait for the standalone.
-
Now here you are wrong. I never said people want first person server, I said people don't want third person because with it the first person servers are simply empty.
-
Someone gets aggressive. Well, sometimes you don't have to stand behind your argument. It is always the case when you know you could write anything, but the opponent would not give a f*ck about it. You know, there are many people putting money into servers, even first person servers. But who is playing them? Nobody. People want first person only though, there is no reason to discuss why or how. They just want it, no f*ck is given about your weird theories about third person being subjective. It is a simple fact, you can't do anything about it.
-
Knew you would say that. How you would able to create your own server? Well, develope your own game. You see now how ridicilous that was?
-
Well, we will tell you the same if there will be first person only ;)
-
Why would you? Because almost 60% of the gamers want it. Why do we have to explain it to every single person? There are no first person servers, look at it 2000 people want first person but maybe like 40 are playing it.

First vs Third Person Discussion (Dslyecxi video)
Wayze replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Most of us just want the third person gone and right now our only goal is to get rocket realising that. Sure optimised third person would be cool but A) if you would optimise it, it would be useless and probably even worse than first person and B] we don't want third person. Third person is just like a camper mode. There is no flanking, there is no sneaking up from behind, there is just this "wait what the other guy does and kill him if he gets out of his cover". If you don't have third person you just have to figure it out. You are afraid of peeking out, you are afraid that the guy on the other side could just sneak up from behind. Fear is essential for DayZ, with third person, and we all know that, like 80% of that fear is gone in combat because you feel save. Go to like 10 mins. No f*cking way he would be able to do that in first person. And this is something you just cannot fix. As long as their is third person you will able to do this. There is no way you could restrict the third person without totally destroying it. -
My detailed DayZ standalone report from Gamescom 2013

Weapons should be very, very rare. Being able to craft them is not just totally unauthentic and weird, it would be also having impact on the gameplay. -
First vs Third Person Discussion (Dslyecxi video)
Wayze replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Thanks for the video. But I think most of us know that third person sucks. There are some people who just won't get it and you won't be able to explain it to them no matter how hard you try. Is there someone who has contact to jackfrags, frankieonpc or some other huge DayZ Youtuber? Would be great if one of those would make a video about that, refering to the poll that was made. This would cause that actually almost every single DayZ player would vote in the poll. Edit: Saw the video, it shows really good how much it changes the gameplay. One single person is in a huge advantage when being in combat with a bigger group. You can easily locate them and kill them. That is why I play like always in a team of two. It is possible to take out groups of 10 people just being in a good position. This however would be never so easy in first person. A huge group should have the advantage and they would have because the smaller group has a hard job to locate all the people. They can be flanked without noticing. They can be suppressed very well, and being suppressed they are not able to locate any of the enemies. This however works in third person perfectly fine, because you can be suppressed and just what over your cover. -
Do you play on first or third person servers?
Wayze replied to Wayze's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes, but obviously if you give them the option the same happens as in standalone. My dear, there are more than f*cking 2000 people who want first person only. Do you see somewhere 2000 people who play on first person server? It is not the case. Why that is we only can assume but the fact is that actually almost 60% of the players don't want any third person in the game. This is no "only hardcore players" poll anymore, this is huge. These are the people who will give feedback for the standalone. These are the people who actually build the community. These are the people who deserve to be heard out. -
First vs Third Person Discussion (Dslyecxi video)

Now I don't know if Dean is aware of the situation. http://www.easypolls.net/poll.html?p=5220c5f8e4b09938befb2ec1 But that is something he just cannot ignore. I want atleast a good statement from him! -
Now what sense would that make? We had that poll once, this is about who would still play the standalone. I don't think this poll is legit, everyone would play DayZ no matter what perspective. I hate third person, but I will play it even if it is third person only. And I just don't believe that 25% would not play the standalone anymore. It is just the "haters" who don't want third person to disappear, I am 100% sure that 99% of these 25% would play the standalone anyway.

Wayze replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yes, I have seen 6 years old kids doing that, but never in my life a grown up person. Super Mario Bros, who are you kidding? Nobody is jumping while playing Super Mario. You want to tell me super mario is super immersive? Yes, sure I feel everytime as if I am Super Mario, I mean totally. What you describe has nothing to do with immersion. -

Wayze replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What the hell? xD Comparing movies with games? Third person in movies?! I really think you don't know what immersion means, it does not mean atmospheric. It means that you actually think that you are playing yourself, not some character. A game is immersive if you think you are in the situation which is currently going on in the game. Being in third person, you will never feel like it's you in the game. It's just your character which you have control of. -

First vs Third Person Discussion (Dslyecxi video)
Wayze replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you have third person, you have the option to observe a situation before going in. You can easily kill someone because you have always the advantage of surprise, he will not see you until you shot him in the face. So there is no reason to avoid combat. You are on the save side if you heard any shots. But if you are a first person only player you just don't have the overview, you cannot observer the situation as in third person. It is way harder to localize a person without being spotted. If you go into a combat you could be always suprised by another player from behind, this is not likely to happen if you know how to use third person. I don't like third person because it is like a coward mode. I mean, how often do you kill people from behind? It is like everytime I kill someone I do it from behind and if I get killed I get killed from behind, because of third person. Because you can observe a player, wait for his move and surprise him. Third person is for backstabbers, the one who spots someone else first is in an HUGE advantage. Sure you have also the advantage in first person mode, but you actually give the other guy a chance to spot you. In third person the other guy can be as careful as he wants, if you are in a advanced position he has just no chance. This does not apply to reallife. Special forces for example know the danger of ambushes etc. however sometimes they have to expose themselfs in situation that could indeed possibly be a ambush. But these guys are trained, they are either very fast or very slow and observe everything. Every move they make is a move which could mean death to every squad member. But they are trained, they know how to deal with certain situations. Their training is their life insurance. But in DayZ third person you can be expirienced as you want to be, you can be very, very careful. Even if you apply realistic combat tactics the chances that you survive always depend on the position of the other player. If he is in a position where he can observe you, you are dead. It does matter if you take you time, observe the roofs etc. at some point a dude could just pop up and shot you in the head. This changes the whole gameplay, every player knows that exactly that could happen, so why being careful? If I can't control it, why should I give a f*ck? There could be someone behind every corner, the problem is that he is invisible to me and if he wants to kill me he will do it. There is nothing I can do about it. And this is what I really don't like about third person, it is just about who sees who first and who is in the better position. There are no advanced tactics in the game.
