If you had read the threads about character progression, we were actually discussion what KIND of character progression we want. And many weren't really happy about "beards" and some immunity against viruses. Like, who cares about beards? What if I don't like beards?! So, if character progression is indeed confirmend, why do we know almost nothing about it? Isn't is something that should be implemented before cars? Well, I don't see it being a part of the road map. And it is a key element of the game, a CORE feature. So, I guess it's low priority? This is it, if Dean had read or even seen the discussions we had, he would've explained to us, because many don't even know of the progression thing. Well, why are we even discussion this. If someone of the team has one minute to spare, he could come in this forum and confirm it. I would be very happy about it, and there would be no need for discussion, if they are honest, and you guys weren't like "There is a dude in a forum that says you are not reading anything in the forums". It's not that hard to proof, I mean matt is even talking to people in the steam chat group. And who cares about the f*cking steam chat group? And btw guys (not the mods), thx for the great support. Trying to fight for our rights here and nobody is helping me with these... these politicians! >.<

Uhm, that is no feedback. That's more like customer support. I want him reading for example the thread about Hive connceted Servers or character progress, things that actually matter to us. Not some error fixing.
-
Who is he? Never saw him giving feedback, to be honest. And do the suggestions really get through to Dean etc.? Well, if this works, we will have proof and nobody will complain ever again. Good, isn't it? No need to believe, if you can know.
-
Sometimes, freedom of speech is so annoying. I mean, what the hell is this thread. The game CLEARLY says Alpha and unfinished product. And yet people complain about something they agreed to? Oh come on guys, you wanted the game so badly, almost everyone of you was like "GIVE ME THE GAME, I DONT CARE ABOUT BUGS! I WANT TO PLAY IT NAAAAOOOW!!!!1111oneoneone" and then they release the game, tell everyone to NOT buy the game because it is not even remotely finished, you actually were reading this when buying the game (or you just don't give a f*ck, in which case it's your fault) and now you are like "DUDE, THIS GAME SUCKS! IT'S NOT NEARLY FINISHED MAN AND EVERYTHIGN IS BUGGY!". Holy sh*t, some people need attention I guess. Go whine somewhere else, what is this, kindergarden? Even if you think "Oh, but I bought the game, I expected the game to work by now, it's not my fault it takes so long", well, still your fault, because you could've bought the game LATER, when it is actually WORKING. Gamers are so annoying these days.

You are fully geared, would you shoot these people?
Wayze replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
Nah, I don't kill fresh spawns if they don't run at me like zeds. And actually, if I have a secondary weapon, I almost always give them to people without weapons if I meet them. Give a guy that is no danger a weapon with ammo, he will be your best friend. Leave him alone, he will come back and kill you. So I see 2 options, kill the guy, or give him so much that he has no reason to kill you. Simple as that. If someone has something to lose, I will most likely kill him if we are confronted and if he is a danger (any firearm). There is no reason for me to take the risk. And yes, if you haven't drawn your gun, you will be exposed to bandits. But if you have drawn the gun, you will be exposed to everyone. This game is all about spotting someone first. If you are spottet, you will most likely die if the other guy is no idiot, and if you haven't seen him. So I guess, if you havent played the mod, you have not enough expirience to judge this. Maybe you had luck, but what I have expirienced, nope, I will not take the chance. Especially in a game that is all about killing each other. -
And like every other poll, this will be totally ignored by the developers. I wonder why they don't have votes in the DayZ client. When you open the game, it could ask you a quick question, you could vote and you got your million votes for the subject matter.

1: Well, he has a M4, the biggest douchebag weapon ingame. And what is he supposed to do with it? Run around and ask people to team up? Nope, this guy deserves to die. 2: Well, those guys are stupid as they haven't spotted me by know. They deserve to die because they need to learn how to play the game. It will be a good lesson and obviously I like to kill people if they have an advantage, or atleast think they have an advantage. With my mosin, I'll kill both of them, or atleast try to. Who doesn't want to be Killed on Sight, has to holster his weapons, simple as that. 3: These guys will most likely kill everyone on sight. People in groups bigger than 2 behave mostly like animals. So I am going to kill them. And I have to teach them to not run to the NWAF, I mean, who runs for hours just to get gear? It's just pointless, you can get everything at the coast. And the fact that they are looting high end gear, is a deathsentence. You don't want to tell me that these douchebags will go back to the coast and play the friendly army guys, right? -

People, please. It's not about people being unfriendly in the game, it's about people having nothing else to do than killing each other... -
DayZ is a paradox game - Random thoughts
Wayze replied to cuddly_rabbit's topic in General Discussion
Are two equally skilled, intelligent and positioned soldiers fighting against each other, the one with the gear fitting most in the current situation will win. Simple as that buddy. Nobody said that gear prevents stupidity. But if you are not stupid as f*ck, gear can make a real difference. We don't need to discuss this, it's common logic. I think the oppisite of you. At the moment, the only thing that is worth something in this game, is gear and excitement. There is not a single benefit from trying to survive. There is no reward for survival. There is no reason for survival. Oh well, there is one: Not to lose the gear I have so I can kill as many players possible. Let's say, there is a player who expects a survival game. A game, where the goal is surviving as long as possible. Well, obviously he could just go on a unpopular server, get food and done. He will survive forever. But it will be boring right? So what is he going to do? Join another server, with more people. Now he has to behave carefully, avoid cities where players could be. Avoid shots. Avoid zombies as much as possible. But is this really worth it? Why would a person do that? Why would a person try to survive? The player won't gain anything. All the loot is basicly just loot, he can pick it up within minutes after he dies. The loot, no matter how hard it is to find, can be stored anywhere. I die, all my progress is saved. Is there anything else than gear in this game? No, there isn't. You do everything for your gear. You survive, for your gear. ANd for what do you need the gear? Well, to kill players. Obviously zombies are no threat and you can avoid them, but after a time you will get really bored. So what do you do? What everyone does, kill other players. And if there is basebuilding, cars and all that stuff, the only goal is too steal and store gear, which you will then use to kill other players, because there is nothing else to do. So, basicly, the game is all about killing players. This results in gear being valuable. So, my suggestion would be a system that awards players for surviving. Awards them even more than some gear he finds. The longer he survives, the more his character, not what he is wearing, should be worth. How to achieve that? I don't know, but I know it's a key element for a survival game. And now there are always players who tell me "DayZ is a sandbox game man! You will just restrict playstyles!". Well, I never saw DayZ as a sandbox game. For me, it was always supposed to be a SURVIVAL game, rather than a game where you do whatever the f*ck you want. There is a BIG difference between those two things. And obviously, if I want to play a survival game, and if I want to have a survival playstyle, then I won't be able to do that in DayZ. I won't enjoy it, because there is NO F*CKING REASON FOR SURVIVAL. I can have a character that is 1000 hours old and if I die the ONLY thing I lose is the gear. And believe me, if you lost your gear thousands of times in this game, you won't give a f*ck anymore. Like, who cares? You said it yourself, expirienced players know how to handle with shitty gear. Just get a pistole or crowbar, search for some guys with good gear and take em out. Done, 1000 hours of "progress" is regained. What the f*ck? I want to be scared for the life of my character. I want to be encouraged to survive as long as possible. I want there to be a meaning in survival. And don't tell me "Well, you survive to keep your gear", because NO, you survive so you can kill more people. If this game is a survival game, well than Call of Duty Modern Douchebag 6 Search & Destroy is also a f*cking survival game. F*ck it, I guess it's better than nothing. Gotta wait for some modders to create a real survival game and not this killing based deathmatch "GO LOOT TO KILL" bullsh*t. -
Make it less zombies, which are way more dangerous. Zombies that kill you within 1-2 hits if you are in range, or even one hit. Why? Because Arma sucks ass in that regard. We will never have another threat than players, if zombies stay how they are. And unfortunatly, the I doubt the engine is capable of having thousands of zombies running around with a semi good KI. And even if, the will still be f**cking stupid. Noone will care about them. Noone ever did. But if you have like 4-5 zombies each town, that are really, really, f*cking dangerous, and which hear really, really good. Every player would think twice about shooting in a city. Shoot in cherno, have fun with 2-3 of the most deadly motherf*ckers you have ever seen. They are faster than you, stronger than you and they will kill you if they see you. Your chances of survival are close to zero if spotted by them. I don't care about it fitting in the "lore". F*cking change the lore. Gameplay is more important. Last of Us did a really job in my opinion. Whenever you saw these motherf*cking infected, you thought yourself "Oh my god, please no, just let me fight the normal humans". Like the motherf*cker who did a 1 hit kill when he touches you? Hell yes man, I was f*cking afraid of them. Nervous as f*ck when confronted with them. It should take more than one headshot, so ammo gets something you need to fight these monsters. Right now, you don't want to waste ammo, why would you? You can run away from zombies, you can kill them with your fists. And even if, you will never group up with a stranger, because the biggest threat is him, betraying you. But if the infected are more dangerous, people will be way more likely to form groups. Anyways, that's just my opinion. Maybe have like normal zombies and additionally to them a few of the motherf*ckers that make you shit in your pants when seeing them. Because right now, zombies are just annoying, I NEVER felt intimidated or scared. And I don't think I ever will again, to be honest. Zombies are f*cking lame, everyone knows how to deal with them, especially if they have the KI of a f*cking vacuum cleaner.

Yes, I like the idea too. I think Dean has something similar in mind. He once said that buildings like the police station could have locked up rooms/furniture. You could break the open with a crowbar or something. What I would like is really rare, random spawning safes. And you could find the number for a safe somewhere in the game. Once you used the safe, you could open it, aber next time server restarts, the safe is gone forever and respawning somewhere else (on another server...). But, the most important thing is that his safe is able to spawn anywhere in the world, except the spawning zones. So people are not able to server hop. In theses safes should be weapons like M4s or I don't know, weapons that you cannot find anywhere else. Or a ton of ammo, which should be rare as f*ck later. Infact, I think everything should be rare as f*ck, regarding weapons. The only thing people should run around are self crafted bows, which should suck d*ck. And even if people find ammo, it should be so rare, so nobody is able to go deathmatching. And food should be rare too. I wonder, why the f*ck is there a hunger/thirst system if you NEVER die by hunger or thirst. It is actually impossible to have no food in your inventory. I am always energized. Furthermore, I never saw people killing each other for food. If food is rare, obviously it should take more time to starve, like way more time. But, people who actually survive for a longer amount of time, should be rewarded with more health, faster running, etc. so people don't just kill themselves why they are too hungry, hiding the loot somewhere and picking it up after respawning. There is no way this game changes, if there is no reward for surviving a long time.

Why does the cross bow do more damage than the m4?

Why does the cross bow do more damage than the m4?
Wayze replied to taco86's topic in General Discussion
Let's get something cleared out: If you get shot by any weapon in the torso, you are very likely to just fall down and not be able to move at all. Even if you are pumped with adrenalin, one single shot can take down the biggest bastard you've ever seen. He will just fall down like a sack. He may be able to talk, but not to move. Why that happens is not quite known yet. But it's probably a reaction of the brain to the devastating damage which was inflicted to the body. That said, there are also cases in which people take more than 3 shots and still run like maniacs. Some say it's based on psychology, other say it's neurological. We just don't know. Here is a video of a homeless guy that got recently shot by the police. This is how someone who got shot will most likely look like. I highly advise NOT to watch that video if you are a sensitive person. So this guy took some shots. Physically he was probably able to run around. But he couldn't. His body has shut down almost every function besides the vital ones, but he is not unconsciouss immediatly. This is not only about physics, but also very much about biology/psychology. The thing about bullets is, that they cause a way bigger secondary damage than a bolt does. The kinetic energy of the bullet is transferred directly into the targets body, causing devastating damage. It's not the bullet that is lethal, it's the shockwave caused by the impact that damages vital organs. The same with explosion. When you see an explosion going off, it's not the fireball that kills you, it's the shockwave that crushes every single bone in your body if you are in a certain radius. A bolt can definitly be as lethal as a bullet, but the stopping power is not even close to the one of a high caliber projectile. Most bolts just go through a target. But there are also heavy bolts that stay in target, causing a similar impact as a bullet. A bolt can take down a guy the same as a bullet can, but I guess it's not as likely, which is why crossbows are not as common as rifles for hunters. Obviously crossbows are used because they are very silent. Even some special forces use them. But they don't have regular crossbows from hunting shops. They have high end crossbows, probably specialised for the situation. You can have a M4 with a suppressor and it will still give out your location. It's still really loud. You need special ammuntion that does not break the sonic barrier. Even then the weapons will be clearly heard in close/medium ranges combat. But from a gameplay perspective, I think crossbows should be not as lethal as rifles. They are more common and have the advantage of absolute silence. A headshot should kill immediatly and a torse shot should have a chance of putting the target to the ground for a while. But I also think that there should be a high chance of fall down (going unconscious) if you are shot by any weapon. So I guess it's just my taste -
What are they going to do against "Server Loot Transfer"?
Wayze posted a topic in General Discussion
When DayZ starts to have persistent items, tents etc. what are they going to do against people who put their tent on really unpopular servers and just put their stuff in this tent, to asure that nobody ever will find it. The same with vehicles... people just have vehicles on really unpopular servers and drive around with them, switching servers when needed. People will have their bases on servers which nobody is playing on... I think it will ruin the expirience. The mod had many private servers, so you couldn't just take loot from one server to another. But if this game is mainly based on this global hive thing, how do they want to solve this? Any ideas? -
What are they going to do against "Server Loot Transfer"?
Wayze replied to Wayze's topic in General Discussion
This public hive thing is so enoying at the moment. I really don't know what it adds to the game, it just causes so many problems. -
What are they going to do against "Server Loot Transfer"?
Wayze replied to Wayze's topic in General Discussion
The problem with private servers is, well we all know it, it will ruin the game. Simple as that. We all know what happened to DayZ Mod... they have to limit the possibilies of privates servers. Maybe something like official servers with their own hives? -
1 big update > 4 small updates. Just think about it. Whenever they update the game there are problems which have to be solved. Let's put it simple: We assume that 1 update causes the game 3 days to have issues. If we have 4 small updates, it's 12 days of issuesolving. Whenever they solve a new problem, they add something new and there is another problem. At this point there are implementing really big things. It's better to implemented all and figure everything out, then implementing the things one by one and looking how it goes. When you solve one problem and add another one, maybe the solution of the first problem will cause problems for the second one. So you have to figure out another way to solve problem 1. This is wasted time... Also, it's just way cooler to have an update where you really see the difference, over a small one where you think "did they even change anything? The game runs like crap now!". So hopefully they change all their "1 update per week" plans, to me it's a waste of time.

Spawns On The East, Bet Everyone Thought It Was Stupid...
Wayze replied to jacobahalls's topic in General Discussion
Just made a quick graphic: This is DayZ currently. All caused by the design decision to spawn everyone on the east coast. (before that, it was just about cherno and the airstrip) The map is just badly designed. There are a few hotspots which would give you really good gear. These hotspots cause the developers to think that they have to set the spawns as far as possible away from them. Causing the map to get very, very static and not dynamic at all. In a game like DayZ a dynamic map is essential for the gameplay. It requires a whole new spawning and loot system. First thing, if spawns are not randomized over the whole map, but at certain spots, people will ALWAYS go to these spots. Why? Simply to kill each other. This is something we can observe right now. So, there are a few high loot areas and it takes some time to get there from the spawns. What happens is, people who gear up at the high loot areas, just go back to the spawns where the people are. They did not travel so far just to lose the weapons in a random encounter, they want to hunt others. What happens is that people just stay at the coast, because the high end gear is just traveling from high loot areas to spawn (people who hunt others die, weapons are obtained by fresh spawns). Over time this causes the community to create hotspots, they get used to it and just go there to fight each other. I would suggest a totally random spawn system, you can spawn basicly everywhere. Sure, there will be still people who kill each other/themselves to get good spawns, but atleast now there are way more areas visited by people. It's not perfect, but for now, as the game is in alpha and needs constant feedback from every areas on the map, not just the coast, it would be worth a try. It cannot get worse than now, because at this point DayZ SA is pure deathmatch. We can discuss theoretical things as long as we want, to see results we need to test it out. And this is why the game is in Alpha, or atleast that's a logical assumption. I really don't get why the developers do not try out different things. Changing the spawns every 2-3 weeks and see how it goes. How else are you going to find the optimum? By guessing and leaving it no matter what? It probably takes just some hours to change the spawns, time that would be well invested in my opinion. -

We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.
Wayze replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
This game is no "Bandit VS Heroes" game. You have to realise that these things do NOT exist. There are no heroes in our world neither there are bandits. There are just people. They decide how they want to act. Don't play a survival game if you want safety. This game is all about psychology. What would a system that shows you which player is bad and which is not add to the game? Go play Battlefield or Call of Duty, there you have your teams, there you can differenciate from good and bad. If you don't want to be killed on sight play it safe. Learn how the human mind works. Sure, you can never be sure. But this is so great about life and this game, people will always suprise you, either good or bad. -
