  1. Can't you just wait for the SA to release?
  2. Exactly. A weapon in DayZ MP which is like 5 times available world wide, just spawned on a SP instance would make that weapon just worthless. Everyone could switch to the SP and get these weapons. This is another huge problem imo. If the game is SP people could very easily hack it. The game would have to be constantly connected to a hive which controlls the loot, making the SP to a MP...
  3. And what would possibly require two persons? Let's stay authentic... Additionally you won't solve KoS with "two player performance" or the attributtes KoS suggested. There is got to be something that makes my character valuable to me, so that he is more valuable then my weapon. Otherwise my goal in the game is simply to find weapons. Ask yourself, what is your main goal when you currently start with DayZ? Is it to survive? Is it to help others? Probably the first priority is to get a good weapon. After a while, you want more. A better weapon, maybe a car, maybe a heli. But what do you need all these things for? To survive? No, you could easily survive without. You collect all these valuable things, in the end, to kill other players. May it be bandits or other survivors. Your life is worth nothing, and since your character is just a puppet you have no other goal then having fun. Which means in 99% of the cases action. Which means killing players. Which means unmotivated KoS. Which also means totaly unauthentic player behaviour. A survival game where you fear death because of losing your weapon, is ironicly no survival game. You have to give the life another purpose, I simply don't see any other solution then character development. I mean, what do people in real life? They skill themselves. They draw until they master it, they play football until they master it, they run marathons until they master it, they play games until they master it. Why would you take that feeling and motivation of progress from a game? In real life it is one of the most essential elements of motivation for life. Hell, many people even see in those things the purpose of life. I want DayZ to be a survival game. I want my character to start as a nobody, surviving in the harsh world and in the end becoming a veteran. Someone who is capable of things, things he teached himself. Without this DayZ is not even close to authentic, afterall this is the main aspect of survival. Learning...

Holy crap, first I read "I can confirm it will not be release in the next 5 days". And I was like: I am not sure, but there is a possibility that something is not quite right with me xD
  6. The only thing to reduce KoS is to make players valuable for each other. No matter how much I will lose after death or how hard it is to survive, if another player has no value to me and if I can do everything I want without him, there is no reason to risk my life for him. In my opinion, like I said, the only way to make a player valuable is to give him the oppurtunity to develope certain skills which others do not have. For example: If I want a car repaired, but I am not skilled in repairing, and it would take hours and hours to successfully repair that car, I would have to go and find someone with that ability. I cannot just shot everyone on sight. I have to sneak up on them and ask if they help me. I could offer them ammo or the abilities I equired. Making death more painful then before is not a way to reduce KoS, in fact people will be even more afraid and will never interact friendly. Life has just no value for the people and as long as this is the case you cannot expect the players to be authentic. They will hunt others just for fun, because they can.

Oh great. Before it was "Holy sh*t it could release next week!" and now it is "Holy mother of god if could release within the next 5 f*cking minutes!". My vacations are screwed. -.-
  8. I don't like the idea. It is just very unrealistic and unauthentic. If you die, you are dead. There is no way that you can recognize a person after death, well because you are dead. With this system, even after 20 deaths you always know the name of the other guy. If you met the person once in real life, you surely will recognize him if you see him again. But how are the odds for that? It is a survival scenario. The whole concept is that at some point I will die anyway. But adding a permanent feature into a game is in my opinion very unauthentic. The probability that you die and never see him again, or that he dies and you never see him again is way higher then the probability that you will at some point see him again, with his name changed. Just because there are like 0.01% who change their names, within the characters life, just to troll some other people, that doesn't mean that we have to add something that complicated and permanent. I mean, what if I want to play as a bandit and after a month or so I have another character and I want to play a hero? The fact that everyone knows my name and knows that this character is just evil, is kind of unfair for me. It is still a game and why would I be forced to keep my playstyle, even if I got bored by it? Nope, don't like that idea at all. Ask yourself, what was DayZ all about? Is it about collecting names and creating list "who I can trust" and "who I can't trust", or is it about the player interaction, the moment where you have to decide if you trust someone or not, the not knowing if this guy is someone who is wanted by 20 clans and FrankieOnPC or just some bambie running around?

I have waited like 6 months, thinking "Hell maybe next week the SA releases!". I am like a dog, still having hope that next week it finally will arrive. xD

    Gender Inequality?

I think, as there will be just one skeleton for players and the fact that clothing would have to be compatible with every single model, this would be way to hard to implement. In the game every female will just look the same, beside the face. The same with male. Everything else would require alot (and I mean ALOT) of work.

What they want is probably money. For that they are forced to compete with DayZ, as it is the main selling point in this genre. Like almost every shooter has to compete with CoD. Sure, they don't want to be better then CoD, but atleast be able to, like I said, compete with them. And DayZ is just an mod, so I think many developer think they could do it better, due to more freedom etc. What they don't realise though, is that, how weird that might sound, the arma engine just perfectly fits in that scenario. It was without doubt the best and probably the only game (arma 2) which was able to create something like DayZ. A map 225km², realistic combat etc. Sure, people say that DayZ controlls are bad, that performance is bad, that everything is bad. But, the engine is that good that even with these negitive factors it still is way better then other engines. And with the SA coming out soon, most of these negative factors will be gone. At that point probably no one will be able to compete, not even Crytek or some other AAA developers. They just don't realise what makes DayZ so good.
  12. The fact that people need to role play, to accompishe authentic player behaviour, is showing us that DayZ mod just failed. It is no survival game (I probably said that 10 times by now in this forum). Life is worth sh*t. I don't want to pretend that my life is worth something, I actually want it to be worth something. I do not want to role play, but to do it because of actually emotions. Fear, frustration, fear, desperation, fear, rage, fear, fear, fear... This is what DayZ was supposed to be. You were not role playing, but you feared to die. Your hands were actually shaking and your heartbeat was going up as hell. But, as life is worth nothing in DayZ, people do not fear death anymore. They don't even fear losing the stuff, because it is so easy to obtain again. Nope, without a character developement system the game will stay a KoS CoD action game.

I love to see how other developers just totally fail in even establishing anything similar to DayZ. :) Arma Engine ftw!
  14. Wayze

    Gender Inequality?

That is how life rolls. Everyone dies, but atleast even after 500x dying I will have something to do. I will always be able to accomplish more then before. Kind of like in Dark Souls. You die, but as you die your motivation to get your souls back is higher then the frustration of losing them.
  15. No, I don't miss the point, bud. ^^ I just don't think it will be easy and surely no as easy as in Arma 2. Arma 2 is not designed for pure online gaming. There are not nearly as much items and zombies on one server. But like I said the most important part is that the Engine of DayZ was designed based on MMO-Architecture. This is something completly different from the mod. That is why I don't think you could just take the game, remove the online part and viola it would work. If I am wrong, sure then I don't see any problems in having a SP.

    Gender Inequality?

The same as you cannot say "Albert Einstein is good and Adolf Hilter is bad.". ;)

    Gender Inequality?

I totally disagree. Actually I couldn't disagree more. Sure, a level up system like in Skyrim or similar would be ridicilous and immersion breaking. But a system that allows you to progress, to learn things and to improve your skill by surviving in the world should be a given. I don't even think there is a discussion needed, because a survival game without the most elementary survival aspect is to me no survival game. That is: Training your skill. In DayZ right now you are a super hero. You know everything, you are capable of doing everything and there is no chance for you to fail. You know how to aim perfectly, you know how to repair a car, a helicopter, you are even more skilled than a surgeon, you are the perfect human. And if you die, there is another perfect human, exactly as you, that will just replace you. I mean how is this even possible? How can a normal avarage citizen be able to do all these things from day one? This is just ridicilous. If you are no mechanic you are not able to repair a car just like that. If you are no surgeon you are not able to treat a wound perfectly within seconds. If you aren't a trained military sniper you won't be able to use a sniper without any problems. Many of these things are skills you will equire while you survive. Hell, that is what survival is all about! To adapt, to learn how to survive. You tell me DayZ is about my story. But why would I possibly want to be a super hero? You take away so much of my story if you just do this. I want to create my character while surviving. My character, my story is about surviving, about developing myself. It is not about finding a DMR and shooting zombies or people. It is about my first handcrafted fire, about the first time I successfully repaired a car engine. It is about me getting better. And now let us just look at it from a gameplay perspective. At the moment DayZ is nothing about my character, it is purely about the gear my character wears. My character is worth sh*t. If he dies I will just have another one, the same one. But the weapon I carry, I probably won't find it again so fast. The weapon I carry, the weapon I actually carry to protect my life, the weapon itself is way more worth then my life. How can you call this a survival game? How can you possibly call a game survival when the weapons are more worth than surviving? I really don't see the logic. Especially such a system would increase the authenticity of player behaviour. I wouldn't just be focused on finding a weapon, but actually on survival. To not lose my character. To not lose something I worked so hard for. The fear of losing that character will be finally higher than losing that weapon.

    Gender Inequality?

But what if I do not want to be average? What if I want my story to be the survival of a weak? And we are back again at character development. I really would like to see my character getting better and faster, so I have something to be sad about if he/she dies.

Oh come on I got 2 weeks vacation. Atleast one week I want to spend playing the SA. ^^

    Gender Inequality?

Maybe we could have special abilities like: Women - crafting meals way faster - repairing clothes way faster - harder to handle a car - if unuseful item is touched it dissappears Men - repairing cars way faster - needs way more food - able to carry way more weight This would definitly increase the expirience and make it way more realistic! Note: Could contain sarcasm

    Gender Inequality?

Sure the reasons are not completely genetic. I don't think that anyone would say that. But, as a matter of fact, there are these genetic differences. It is no believe, but simple science. I do not say that women are not able to overcome these genetic differences, but these differences exists, no matter how much society does effect a person.
  22. Wayze

    Gender Inequality?

Some people... ^^ Ofcourse women are different from men, regarding to their body. Women are not able to build as much muscles as men do, that is not some cultural difference, it is a biological difference. Just look at body builders. In my country there is no single woman in the military special forces, even though they are allowed to. This is not because these women were raised up wrong, if they would they wouldn't even try to be a part of it, right? No, these women have a very, very hard time to compete with men regarding to the extreme conditions which require not only a very strong mental state, but also a very specialised body. Carry 30kg on your back + 20kg equipment and go for a marsh, a whole day. After that, go sprint and be an athlet. This is something that is very hard to accomplish as a women. Sure the society is not making this easier, but also the biological foundation is making it almost impossible, atleast way harder for them then for men. That is why, in my country, they are planning to prepare special training for women who want to attempt special forces. If it works or not, we'll see. Every biologist will tell you the diffrences between female and male. They are present, but that does not mean that women are less worth then men. It just means that evolution has found this way of being as the best way to survive. How women and men will look like in 20.000 years, if mankind will survive that long, is a whole other topic. But you cannot change, without science, something that nature spent hundrets of thousands years for, atleast not within 100 years.
  23. Yes, the majority (casual gamers) wants an easy expirience with lots of action. But I did not mean them. I actually meant the hardcore player base, even they, that is my assumption, do not want a SP game. And yes sure, if it was easy to establish. Why not? But I really don't think that you can take an engine based on MMO architecture and turn it into a singleplayer game. This would probably just work if the player is constantly online, being connected to a hive. But that also would mean that every single player needs a whole "server" just for him. As I said, it is probably not easy because DayZ SA is made for online gaming. Thousands of zombies and items computed by the client would be too much, I guess.
  24. Believe me, I am the last person in this Forum you have to tell this. I realise the desire and I gave my opinion. But the problem with the performance does not vanishe by itself, but by actually spending money and time to solve it. As I said, DayZ without players is like a game with terrible zombies and nothing to do. Sure everyone will find something to do, but as it is probably not the desire of the hardcore playerbase (and the casual player base) to run around without company or enemies, I think a singleplayer would be not worth the effort.
