  1. I totally agree with you Xianyu, but this: F*ck that, man. I hate the idea of 'level' being the f*cking gear. I want to fear about my character and not about the gear I carry. Look at Project Zomboid. There I have a character that I care about. Every weapon I carry, everything I do is simply to survive. In DayZ it is the other way around. I survive to carry the cool stuff, I survive to have a good weapon, I survive to do whatever I want and in the end I survive to shoot other people. Simple as that. This is no survival game, not even close. The main goal of DayZ was never survival, I never actually cared about that my character survives. I always cared about my gear. Not losing it. This was the important part. And I say f*ck that. I hate it and I know that Dean hates it too. He told us he would do something about it, but I still haven't seen anything. He told us it would be very important to add a real value to the character. But where do you see that in the SA? In my opinion that should be one of the things they should fix even before the performance issues, because it is such a elementary core feature. "Just run back there and get it." I want that thought to not even occur. Because in a real survival scenario you don't carry food and clothes because you like it. You carry it to survive, because your life is very valuable to you. But in DayZ a fresh spawn is just as valuable as a veteran. There is simply NOTHING that differs them. I don't see how you can call this game a survive game, when it is about everything but your life.

    Aim in Standalone

    Negative mouse acceleration has been removed as far as I know. Was discussed before june and I recall Dean saying that they clearly see the problem and have fixed it. Like the FOV slider... However, I hope your hand will shake as f*ck while aiming. You don't need negative mouse acceleration, just a realistic shake. The longer you aim the less you shake (to a certain point where the negativ effect occurs). After a long run you shake even more. All of these things are already implemented in arma, but it is just not enough. We are no soldiers in the SA, so we should even shake more, even less controll over the aim. This is something that, in my opinion, the character should learn while he is doing it. The more you shoot, the more you aim, the better you get in it. Simple as that. This is how life goes. But many people do not like that kind of system. I don't know why, it is authentic as hell and and clearly adds a missing core element to the game. Afterall, what is a character worth to you if he is no different to the one you will have after death?

    Actually, waiting for the standalone is like time wrap. I feel like E3 was yesterday. And I remember Dean saying "when the SA is not out until gamescom I will have a hard time"... well feels like he said it today.

    It is kind of funny isn't it? Dean says when they have 50 players on the server and it runs good they will probably release the alpha very soon. But that means they can wait as long as they want to, if they never attempt to test the servers with 50 players the game will simply never release. They can update the game and have a good excuse "Well, we haven't tested it with 50 players, sorry...", in the meantime they have time to polish the game for the release. Not sure if that is the case, but if I were Dean and if I wanted the SA to look good when it first arrives I would do the exact thing.

    Actually I don't think it will be implemented at all. Would be just to much work and I think the animation-system of DayZ/Arma is just too bad designed to do that without alot of effort.

    You are like me: I don't believe in god because it is totally unrealistic and stupid, but if he really exists I am going to be very positive surprise after death. And if he does not exists I won't be disappointed. Win-Win situation. :)

    In Germany it is the west side, because the wind/rain is coming from the west. As the moss is growing where the most rain hits the tree, it is the west side of the tree. Not sure how it works in Chernarus, but it depends on the specific location, sun is just one factor, because it evaporates the water. In many cases though, not a single side of the tree is hit by enough light to show significant effects.

    Like the idea, but noone would run around with flares or chemlights. Just implement some decent torches. Sure having chemlights and flares is good, but they shouldn't be the main light source and they should be rare in my opinion.

    What happen if SA sucks? God will be very disappointed in his creation. Burning jews, letting children in africa starve, destroying our own planet... all of these things are forgivable. But if the SA sucks, gods wrath will turn earth into a new hell for mankind.

    And why not going elsewhere and showing us the zombie hordes? Honestly, the compass is cool, but like 5 mins of the video were showing it. I saw it, it is ok, nothing special for arma, I don't need half the video to realise it. No offense, but I think he could have shown us some more important stuff. Actually I think he would have if it worked well. The hitbox for him was disable right? Hm, will the zombies never be able to attack while running?

    The meele system is still the same? It's like a handgun with a very short distance, look at it when he is attacking a wall. Weird, I thought they did it from scratch... And why are there so few zombies? I want to see some hordes!

    Children from the age group of 1 to 10 may die due to immaturity odd the actuall body, but above that age, a normal virus does not kill them. Like I said it is a game. The existence of a virus that turns people into zombies is totally thought up. Such a virus would have never been created in normal circumstances. And even if it would never had the chance to spread that far. However, if people play with genes and create biological weapons, they can turn them into whatever they want. So let us assume the virus is made by mankind. A zombie virus that is supposed to kill humans and especially young humans to garantee the depopulation of a certain area, made by intelligent life, could do whatever it wants. Sure natural viruses would never be capable of doing so, but viruses made in the labor... The idea that the virus automatically turns people into zombies and spreads over the world is utterly ridiculous and unrealistic. Yes I know there is a mushroom that is capable of controlling the behaviour of very primitive life froms, but thinking that a virus would ever turn into something like DayZish apocalypse? Oh yeah rabies, sooo zombielike, sure. Nope, never will happen unless some with some help. But even with help, the apocalypse still is utterly ridiculous and unrealistic. In context of the game "Children die due to their age" sounds very logical if you compare it to the utterly ridiculous and unrealistic thought of a zombie virus that causes an apocalypse.

    Logical standpoint? The virus kills victims that are to weak (old people and children), there you got your explaination. The virus in DayZ kills 90% of the infected people, 9% turn to zombies and 1% are immune.(that is how I remember Dean talking about it when the mod came out) The immunesystem of children is not as strong as the one of grown people. They die due to the effect of the virus. Logic? You can turn it as you want, it is a game.

    My point was that there are zombies in the house, maybe even right infront of the spawn point. You cannot prevent this from happening. Problem two, which stays unsolved is the player problem. I don't want people to spawn right next to me when I have gear I collected for like 5 weeks. I don't want a broken spawn system to kill me because it was to stupid to calculate another spawn point for the fresh spawn.

    Waking up in a house will be hard, you are unarmend and zombies are probably blocking the way out. As zombies do not spawn anymore, but stay constant on the servers, it changes the whole "spawning" subject. There have to be some kind of safe spots so the player does not get killed while spawning. Military areas and areas with good loot should not have spawnpoints and should be guarded by a heavy amount of deadly zombies to prevent players from going there after spawn. And if you can spawn everywhere, there has to be a system that detects if a player is near the spawnpoint. If yes, it should find another spawn point. This is to prevent weird situation that would seem like server hopping (for example: you clear a house, camp in there and suddenly someone kills you from behind with his bare hands).
