  1. What Max said.

Once they've got the zombie code to a point where they can put the number of zombies they actually want on the server and they've got all the related features and tweaks working, that's the point when you look at sorting things out like the glitching.

It's been said a thousand times before over the past week, but one more time won't hurt. DayZ is not at a point where you should be playing it looking to have a glitch-free and entirely playable experience. At this point in time, we are little more than glorified testers, and each and every one of us accepted that when we handed over our money and then accepted it again every time we click 'I understand' when the game launches. We are not here for a smooth and seamless playing experience, we are here to deal with whatever the developers throw at us for the greater good of the finished product we paid for.

I'm fully aware that I'm an alpha tester.

My point is that zombies need to work properly in order for the alpha to be ready to move on to 'beta'. They're an integral part of the experience, far too large to not be fixed in a reasonable timeframe.

  2. Then don't interact with them. Run off and loot somewhere else, or hide and wait until they leave, or yell for them to drop their weapon and if they don't THEN shoot them because you know they have bad intentions. Blindly shooting everyone in a SURVIVAL game is stupid.

To you, it might be. But to me, it means free loot that I don't have to trek my ass off for, and it means one less person near me who could kill me.

  3. I just flat out don't understand how shooting someone who calls out friendly is more fun than keeping them alive and doing bad things to them. Or at least pretending to be friends only to lead them into a trap or backstab them after a while. At least have fun with it for the love of god.

Because shooting them is faster and has less of a chance of YOU getting backstabbed once THEY get a gun or their friend comes along.

  4.  I have robbed three players of their batteries and not killed them. It is very easy to rob and not kill.' Get down on the ground or i shoot at three! Start counting, once they are on the ground..' Strip all of your clothes and gear off now !'   I didn't handcuff any because i didn't have keys to unlock them.

The thing is, the people you took all the loot from may as well be dead anyway, since they're the equivalent of a fresh spawn now.

Being robbed is essentially the same thing as being killed, and location isn't exactly a big deal since Balota is by far the best place to camp and server hop for loot.

  5. I like how some project their experiences on the overall game or community.

I can do the same: Handcuffing works.

Simple, isn't it? But in the end, it's somewhere in between. Fact is: Random people are likely to shoot up others anyway without going so far. Other bigger groups (more than 1-2) can act different. Saw the handcuffs in action a few times already and no, the person was not shot.

You realize of course these forums are an EXTREMELY small percentage of the people that play the game.

You also realize I'm sure that the people who played the mod will play this.

Guess what happened in the mod more than anything else, and was constantly complained about?

  6. I dunno i like the system a mate and I are doing some robberies tonight AKA 'road piratiering' going to hold up people on the highways if they don't oblige they get the gun if they do we are gonna restrain them unload their guns take their ammo then send em off, no harm no foul!

You can't really take all their stuff anyway as my bags are always 80% full all i want robberies for is easy ammo and when you're working the roads as a 2 man team i think it can be highly rewarding and then to send them off into the world with their empty guns! muhahahaha! well i'll see how it goes tonight and how many people oblige to being restrained!

See how quickly you both get popped the second someone you rob tells his group about it.

  7. Oh god it begins.

This 'code of honor' bs ran rampant throughout the forums during the mod.

It's not your job or my job to tell people how to play the game. If I want to KoS I will, if I don't, I won't.

As it stands there is less risk to KoS than there is anything else. Until that changes, I'm going to survive in the most optimal way, which is mostly KoS.

  8. Why? Because I'd rather take my miniscule chances of escaping with my loot and life instead of guaranteeing I lose everything and then probably get shot afterwards anyway.

It's been said a kajillion times, but there needs to be more worth to a character than the loot on his back. How this gets implemented could be a number of ways, but it is LIKELY going to HAVE to boil down to a semi 'skill' system that gets reset on death.

  9. YES I KNOW IT IS ALPHA

That point acknowledged and put aside, I have a suggestion.

One thing I would really enjoy seeing in the finalized product is an expansion on the character creator. It would be nice to see other eye colors, hairstyles, facial hair, and body types  among the survivors of the apocalypse, from the long bearded survivor ready to raid a town to the fresh faced accountant about to shit his pants.

I mean, I myself have long, curly hair. I don't think everyone in Russia keeps their hair the same way.

What do you guys think about a more expansive character creation process?

  10. I will admit up front, this would not be very realistic at all. The main reason that I strongly suggest they implement it is to greatly reduce KoS-ing by making it more enticing to hold players up instead. As it stands, even once they get to implementing ballistic damage on items while they are still being worn - solving the issue to a small degree, there is still very little incentive built into the actual mechanics of the game to not KoS other players if you think you can survive it. Another meaningful improvement that this could make is to encourage robbers to not take all of a players loot but just a portion of it, as the player would then have much less reason to not just yell "screw you!", run, and get killed, destroying half of their loot in the process.

So, consider that this would definitely make the game less realistic and more game-y, but I think the pros far outweigh that one con (the only one that I can think of); is this as fantastic of an idea as I think it is?

Lost me at the first sentence.

If I shoot someone in the chest, they shouldn't magically break their gun, pants, helmet, and whatever is in their backpack.

  11. *DayZ Early Access Alpha is released for hands on testing*

*3 days later, player demands for End Game Content*

    *derp*

I swear if people like you had it your way games would stay in alpha forever.

Instead of being a smartass, read the thread and realize it's a suggestion thread, which is what the spirit of an alpha game is all about.
