    Is losing everything... Enough?

That's kind of the point of the mod actually. "Rocket said!". About the exploits, it's really easy to get guns even without them. In less than 3 hours, I can get a good military grade rifle with 4 or 5 mags. With a bit of luck I can even get the SD version. Maybe not beans and soda :) But everything weapon-related and the already rare NVG and similies, yeah, maybe.

How Do You Initially Gear Up?

Run to the closest town, not caring for aggro. If there are stables, I go through them and look for any weapon. If there are none, no problem: The zeds are "trapped" inside. If there is one? Kill the zeds, loot soda and cans from the corpses (best with axes). Repeat until I have both a pistol and a main weapon + sufficient amount of food, then proceed more stealthily inland, heading for NE airfield, ignoring players.

    DayZ Stories

After walking for around 6 hours with below 2.5K blood, falling almost every 100m with 6 blood bags, 4 morphine auto injectors, many bandages and other medical things (most annoying being the useless on self bloodbags)in my alice pack, I finally died to a hopper that hit me (never heard it) and by the time I took care of him, I didn't have enough time to bandage myself, so died of blood loss. I've been looking for human life for hours. When you don't want to meet people, you do. But when you do want, you don't. Or you pass out when trying to get into contact, and therefore lose them.

    Mass murder on EU20

Sometimes happen. Some people's idea of a clever joke. One of the major rules of DayZ always was: Don't get too attached to anything.

    Zombie Children YAY or NAY

Yay and Nay. Sort of yes as in: It's different, creepy, scary. It brings us more in tune with the fact that all of those Zeds are/were actually human. Right now, they're like a mockery of humans crossed with Hussein Bolt. They are a pain in the butt, but Zed killing never scared me, nor did I have actually any emotional response to Zed killing (Apart from "Dang, so much wasted ammo, dude!"). Adding those little buggers and other Zeds that have a clear history (Read in this topic something like a bride and groom around churches. Man is that twisted and cool) that bring emotions when faced. Also, from a gameplay point of view, hard to spot midgets that run more slowly and hurt less would still give the alternative of losing them instead of killing them, but you still have to look for them around. Maybe having them crying really loud and attracting zeds when they spot you could be an interesting feature. The Nay part s a said above in several posts: Many countries, Germany in the lead, censor their games (But porn or violent films don't get banned) and would prevent a game with such a feature to be sold, creating a neat loss. The really ironic thing is that if age limitations were actually enforced and followed, none of that crap would be a problem. If 18+ games were only available to those, it would really be better for the game industry...

    whats with punishing bandits?

I have no problem with going in a rampage from time to time. This represents the occasional maniac that should exist IRL. But ALWAYS playing the game as a pure survivor or a pure murderous PVP fan is just missing a big part of it. When I play, I roleplay. Sometimes (most of the time) I go lonewolf, and avoiding people, only asking for guys on a forum I'm in for the occasional help in self injecting a bloodbag and trading a bit of medical supplies [When I play lonewolf, I love to just raid hospitals]. Other times, I go for a round of banditry. Still lonewolf, and hunting for survivors. It's simple but challenging really: Start as a lonewolf, find a gun and binoculars, take a vantage point, spot someone and go hunting for beans. On rare occasions I go for Elektro or Cherno, run like a headless chicken for guns and ammo, and fire around, killing folks for the lols. But that's really rare, and always feels pointless (especially since the game isn't built for that). What I despise though are the guys that feel like their way of playing (always shooting on sight) is the right way. There is no other reason than "dude was there, I want his stuff, or just to ruin his day cuz I have loads of stuff anyway". They justify themseves by saying "In this situation, dogs eat dogs". Seriously, thinking about it: Would you be able to pull the trigger on someone you never saw before? Would you just down people that ust don't do anything remotely threatening more than a mile away with your sniper rifle? Would you bait someone that's asking for help to kill him with cold blood? Even when saying friendly, people either run away (sensible) or shoot (not wanting to bother). This really is, to me, gamebreaking as many interactions, especially for people that don't want to be part of a regular group on TS/MUMBLE/whatever, aren't even remotely possible.

    Headshots Required To Kill Zeds

NO. Already such a pain in the butt to hit them that no. And even if it was easier: NO. They are not "Zombies". They aren't even defined yet.

    Romero Zombie vs Rage Infected

Why do people oppose "28 days later" and "classic" zombies? Slow one could be in towns, and occasional fast ones at random. And several fast ones in the woods/other.

    Carry the wounded

It must have happened to quite a few around here. You see someone with a broken leg, but have no morphine on you or anyone in the group. You then have two options: - The guy disconnects until one member of his group gets the much needed drugs. - Snail's pace crawl to a hospital. - (Optional) Suicide omg this is annoying. What I'm asking for is the ability for someone to carry the wounded player on his shoulders. This would imply: - Only possible to be standing or crouching. - While standing, maximum speed is equal to standard crouch sprinting. - While crouched, maximum speed is equal to crouch walking. - Unable to use a gun for both the carried and the carrier. This would add an other incentive for teamplay: You can only pull this off with at least 3 people: A guardian, a carrier, and the wounded guy. Would add a bit of roleplay. Would be faster than just crawling to no end. I believe the animations already exist?

    Carry the wounded

Well, they'd still ALT+F4. But otherwise, it seems a really sensible, not a priority, idea.

    New infected.

Medic Zed has Morphine and painkillers Bob the builder can have a toolbox and scrap metal? Things like that would indeed be interesting. Note: I'd love a "Fake dead" zombie by the way. Lays on the ground like a dead one, and only reacts when you're around.

    Carry the wounded

Yes, it could also be used for evil deeds. Let's walk around. Oh! I got aggroed! Here, have a luch!

    Specific Replacement Weaponry (USSR)

Wasn't there a big topic with pictures with the exact same idea, and possibly sharing some of these names?

    Molotov

According to a great book about zombie survival, and I have to agree with it, there are two things you don't want to do to a zombie: Making it radioactive, and setting it alight. Why? Because, by the time those kill them, it made them even more deadly to you. Though I'd love molotovs. Works like a flare at night. Prevents people from following you. Hurts instead of kills.
  15. I don't completely agree or disagree with what you say, but there is one thing that I agree with more: Player identification. IRL it's easy to recognise someone you know. If the "ID" overhead name appeared at a very short range only (<=15m) it wouldn't be gamebreaking and show how people know each other from sight. Note: There is a possibility to customise a MALE character with glasses and different faces by the way. You guys should try it out if you work in a group, but it's very limited..

    Patch hopping

Strangely enough, I always find servers with fewer people to play on. No need to go to 50 slot servers where every corner hides a rifle. It jsut depends on player hours. if they prefered old gameplay, that's their choice. Between 1.7.1 and .5, Many people rolled back, because important hotfixes were needed and sometimes broke (No food, infrared omniscient zeds;..)
  17. I say we should create the LPZ. Zombies aren't monsters! They just need food, and sadly food is us. We shouldn't be allowed to hurt them. After all, the whole game is an insult to the families of the people that have been zombified, and to the Zombies themselves! We should PROTECT them from themselves! I say the whole game should revolve around this: Running around, attracting them to special cages near the shore where they will be captured, and they'll get all the medical attention their affliction deserves (And by that I don't mean a bullet in the head). If the gameplay doesn't change to that IMMEDIATELY! .I'll be forced to take legal actions against Bohemian Interactive.

no to grey screen when injured

It's annoying... But it's on purpose. You clearly have never died from starvation/thirst while in pain with no painkillers... Now that's a pain to watch.
  19. Not so much. Sure, they can spot you from "relatively" far, but IRL comparison they must be half blind.
  20. Off. Because it made me annoyed everytime it popped on for no reason. And it stayed off as I could hear stuff much better that way. Probably saved me a few times, and helped localise snipers/zeds. This game forces you to hear and listen a lot. And suddely "BAM" from no were comes a music/sound.

How did you discover Day Z?

Youtube. Was looking for some Arma 2 gameplay and found some videos (I think it was Sidestrafe?). Made me install the game that I had bought centuries ago, but never played.

    NOT f!"£%!£%ing amused

Do you guys mocking him even try to understand? He got killed by someone rampaging in the debug forest. Rocket, time to move that debug forest somewhere else where it is impossible to reach. Like inside a hill or something.

    Map of spawn locations

I used them for my first 4 or 5 lives. But they take a lot of the gameplay away actually, especially if you play more solo than with a group, as you basically know where everything is. I still sometimes use out of the game maps when I really can't find a bloody gun, but otherwise... Nah, just breaks the immersion and feels too much like Maxing things out and forgetting the pleasure of spotting a deer stand through the trees at random.

    DayZ Stories

Our proud hero had found himself alone, on a desolate shore. At first cautious, he approached a nearby village to face the horror of Zeds feasting on a corpse, laying on the ground. And so he ran. Ran inland. Rarely did he find living humans, and most of the time tried to avoid them after a few rounds had been wasted on the trees near him. Several times did he manage to sneak in deer stands, finding ammunition, but never a gun, or simply ammunition not fitting his gun. His most trusted tool was the pair of binoculars, warning him of human presence through the existence of patrolling Zeds in towns. And again he ran through the country side, finally finding an axe. And several times did our brave hero have to hack and slash Zeds that had started to chase him, causing him to bleed. Eventually, a crawling zombie caught him unaware as he was trying t scavenge food from a convenience store. His leg had been broken. And so he crawled, foolishly hoping for a helping hand to come around, ready to exchange whatever he had to survive (including quite a few AK and STANAG mags, Fuel and even a car wheel.) And when finally a human appeared, that human was followed by a dozen Zeds. As the survivor zoomed past our hero, completely oblivious to a black shape in the grass, he found himself free of his pursuers, that had changed targets for an easier to catch prey. As the cries of our hero being eaten alive echoed through deserted hills, he knew that soon he would see the beach, once again...

    Luckiest loot you've discovered?

I never have luck with loot. I either have a plaethora of weapons and never any ammo (So I'm extremely happy when I find some) or a ton of ammo but no gun (in my last life, I had found a makarov with one mag, a crossbow with one bolt... and 4 M1911 mags, 1 G17 mag, 1AKM and 1STANAG mag...) Strangely enough, the loot I like the most is binoculars. Looking at a town to see if there are zeds around warns that a player is in the area, so it's time to bail out). So my luckyest loot is actually binoculars in almost every life.
