Are these weather effects a bit too much?

like Jukaga said. I suspect they are getting the foundations of the weather & effects system in place, then expect they will spend some time adjusting values as the system becomes closer to completion

Do you want pooping in this game?

Yes; not as a priority. It could come a year or more after release for all I care though. Once you get the status report you need to poop, you have several hours to perform the animation, or else you will poop your pants and that will have some negative effects of some sort.

    [SA] Dodging-Button/Animation

I really like the idea of diving left, right, forward, back. but you would never dodge a bullet from a rifle. e.g. The standard AK-47 or AKM fires the 7.62×39mm cartridge bullet. That travels at 715 m/s. The average speed of sound at sea level is 340.29 m/s. By the time you hear the shot the bullet will already be inside you, not taking into account the player reaction time
  4. haha they are cool, It'd be nice to see a couple in game, but it's 2013, not 1945, so one or two maybe.
  5. Dude they are just making sure it is great. just calm down everyone

    BRING TO XBOX!

That was scrapped by Microsoft a couple of weeks ago, not long after Dean said "maybe for PS4, but not for Xbox because of the fees" Microsoft are now on par with Sony regarding their policies for indie games. I personally I couldn't care either way. the servers will not be linked, so Xbox play with only Xbox players, and the same for Playstation 4 and PC. I'll stick to the superior system though

    Character Learning/ skills

I know a lot of you think Skills would be an unfear advantage. But still although I like the current system I believe there is room for a so called 'skill' feature to be added. Here is a little something I had in mind. Please not values are used as an example only. values would be tweaked as nessessary. Jumping/Vault, Dive Prior to getting the upgrade to your already known skill ‘volt’ you have a chance of tripping over a fence (15% trip probability). The more you do it the better you get, jump 20 fences your trip probability drops to 10%, jump 50 fences it drops to 7.5% and so on until you have mastered jumping fences. (Optional)Currently we can vault on DayZero, or dive in Dayz. As a form of progression to jumping fences, you learn to dive, once you have learned not to trip (trip probability <= 5%). As vaulting slows your momentum and you remain upright, the dive should be faster, more fluent, enable you to quickly pass over a fence and into a roll which helps conceal you. Sprinting With sprinting you gain speed and endurance by doing it. ‘total’ and ‘current’ sprint distance traveled will have to be recorded and calculated. Fresh spawn can sprint for 80m, at a speed of 24kmph After sprinting a total of 800m, increase sprint distance to 90m, increase sprint speed to 26kmph After 2000m, increase sprint distance to 100m, increase sprint speed to 28kmph After 5000m, increase sprint distance to 105m, increase sprint speed to 30kmph After 7500m, increase sprint distance to 110m, increase sprint speed to 32kmphAfter you have sprinted you slow down over a matter of seconds to a jog. Running(jog) Running is pretty self-explanatory, the more you do it the faster you run. Fresh spawn can run 10kmph After you have ran a total of 5km, increase jogging speed to 10.5kmph After 25km, increase jogging speed to 11kmph After 50km, increase jogging speed to 11.5kmph After 75km, increase jogging speed to 12kmph After 100km, increase jogging speed to 12.5kmph After 125km, increase jogging speed to 13kmph After 150km, increase jogging speed to 13.5kmph After 175km, increase jogging speed to 14kmph After 200km, increase jogging speed to 15kmph Medical It would be nice to see a new item “medical journal/text book” you could find and read. Reading the book would give you a permanent increase to speed, and decrease infection chance. If five different books were added, each one giving different skill buff. Book 1 - decrease bandaging time by 0.8 seconds, lower infection chance by 0.5%. Book 2 - decrease blood transfusion time by 1 second, lower bandaging time by 0.6 seconds lower infection from blood transfusions by 4% Book 3 - decrease blood transfusion time by 0.5 seconds, lower infection chance from blood transfusions by 5% Book 4 - decrease bandaging time by 1.6 seconds, lower infection chance from bandaging by 1% Book 5 – decrease bandaging time by 0.4 seconds, decrease blood transfusion time by 0.8 seconds, lower infection chance from blood transfusions by 2.5%, lower infection chance from bandaging by 1% Bandaging The more you bandage the more efficient you become. Bandaging a wound should also come with an infection chance (not zombie infection), effecting other skills. E.g. If you’re fresh spawn and bandage yourself or someone without antiseptic (add antiseptic item, and combine with bandage) of some sort, you have a 15% chance of infection. If it was one of your arms you bandaged you will be slightly disadvantaged when performing tasks that require the use of that arm. So while shooting, you may have a little extra sway, while driving you may be a little less responsive to turning. The same goes for an infection on a leg, while driving your accelerate and break response will be slightly lowered. Fresh spawn takes 25 seconds to bandage, and have a 6% chance of infection with antiseptic, 12% without antiseptic. Once you have applied a total of 5 bandages, bandaging speed decreases to 24 seconds, infection chance decreased to 5% with antiseptic, 11% without antiseptic 10 bandages, bandaging speed decreases to 23 seconds, infection chance decreased to 4% with antiseptic, 10% without antiseptic 20 bandages, bandaging speed decreases to 22 seconds, infection chance decreased to 3% with antiseptic, 9% without antiseptic 40 bandages, bandaging speed decreases to 21 seconds, infection chance decreased to 2% with antiseptic, 8% without antiseptic 80 bandages, bandaging speed decreases to 20 seconds, infection chance decreased to 1% with antiseptic, 7% without antiseptic Blood Transfusion Similar to bandaging, the more you do it the better you get, also with an infection chance. Rather than the ‘infection’ effecting your skills, it’d effect your mobility and make you cough and shiver. Fresh spawn takes 40 seconds to perform a blood transfusion, have a 25% chance of infection. Once you have performed 5 blood transfusions, speed decreased to 39 seconds, infection chance decreased to 22.5% 10 blood transfusions, speed decreased to 38 seconds, infection chance decreased to 20% 20 blood transfusions, speed decreased to 37 seconds, infection chance decreased to 17.5% 40 blood transfusions, speed decreased to 36 seconds, infection chance decreased to 15% 100 blood transfusions, speed decreased to 35 seconds, infection chance decreased to 10% Shooting Like everything else, the more you do it the better you become. So Fresh spawn, first you have considerable recoil, slower reloading speed and considerable sway. A way I’d attack this is by each variable (recoil, reload speed, sway), and weapon specific Recoil Weapon virgin will suffer considerable recoil Shoot with the weapon shouldered 10 times, recoil decreases 0.2% Shoot with the weapon shouldered 25 times, recoil decreases 0.6% Shoot with the weapon shouldered 50 times, recoil decreases 0.7% Shoot with the weapon shouldered 100 times, recoil decreases 1% Shoot with the weapon shouldered 150 times, recoil decreases 0.5% Shoot with the weapon shouldered 200 times, recoil decreases 0.75% Reloading Weapon virgin, takes 3 seconds to reload. Reloaded a weapon 5 times, weapon specific reload speed decreases to 2.9 seconds, general reload speed decreases 0.05 seconds Reloaded a weapon 10 times, weapon specific reload speed decreases to 2.8 seconds, general reload speed decreases 0.05 seconds Reloaded a weapon 20 times, weapon specific reload speed decreases to 2.7 seconds, general reload speed decreases 0.05 seconds Reloaded a weapon 60 times, weapon specific reload speed decreases to 2.6 seconds, general reload speed decreases 0.05 seconds Reloaded a weapon 100 times, weapon specific reload speed decreases to 2.5 seconds, general reload speed decreases 0.05 secondsE.g. If I reload my M4 100 times, my reload speed will be 2.5 seconds, minus 0.25 seconds from the general reload speed decrease = 2.25 seconds. Say I just find an AK47, my reload speed is going to be 3 seconds because I haven’t used an AK47 before. But I do have some experience with my M4, so my reload speed will be 2.75 seconds initially. I think it’s be safe to say each weapon will have it’s own reload times and the so called “reload skill” should adjust per weapon. Sway I think weapon sway/steadying should be used across the board for all rifles and not be weapon specific Shoot using the iron sights 5 times, sway decreases 0.05% Shoot using the iron sights 10 times, sway decreases 0.05% Shoot using the iron sights 30 times, sway decreases 0.08% Shoot using the iron sights 100 times, sway decreases 0.08% Shoot using the iron sights 200 times, sway decreases 0.1% I stopped here before I spent to much time on this system to have it scrutinized I believe this also opens a door, that you could become stronger, enabiling you to carry more weight is it was ever added to the mod. would live to see a weight and capacity system implimented that worked togeather. Also add the ability to add more stats to be tracked.

    Money

I dont like the idea of currency. Although fallout 3 used bottle caps as a form of currency and it worked well there. I like the thought of going back to basics and using a barterinfg system goods fot goods or services for goods.
  9. This is quite interisting. It made me think of when the USS Indianapolis was sunk and although near 900 seamen survive the initial sinking of the ship, only a handfull survived to tell the tale. Thrown into a situation such as they were (In shark infested waters in the pacific ocian, facing exposure, dehydration and shark attacks, with no one looking for them for days) many of the men were drove to drinking sea water, losing sanity, and murdering one another. More men died at the hands of there fellow seaman than they did from dehidration or shark attacks. This was a great doco showing how desperate Humans become and to what lengths they will go to survive:

    Share an experience with us

Fixed, also renamed as I'd like to hear some other experiences others have encountered that really had them on the edge of their seat.
  11. We all have some intense experiences in Dayz, Share some of your experiences here. Here is one i had last night that really got the blood flowing. I were repairing a wheel on a push bike at the docks, when a zombie ran up behind me and one shot KOed me, resulting in my death. Upon respawning I ran into a fellow hero, may I add is a very rear sight. I approached him with caution and made contact. After what appeared to be him shitting his pants we got talking, discussed a common enemy which led to us helping him and his buddy find a main rotor assembly so they may assault these bandits. Finally Abolition arrived and we all jump into the UAZ. As we travel we talk and discuss their plan (These guys appeared to be genuinely decent blokes). We reach the destination, I run to my corps and grab my M4 CCO first, and then one of these other jokers starts looting my gear. I start telling the guy to return my gear, and the situation becomes heated very quickly. I’d warned him and I think he knew I were going to open fire if he didn’t. I did not want to shoot on a fellow hero, then BOOM, abolition had been shot in the back of the head. Snap, snap, I hear as bullets whizzed past me. I took some shots as I ran for cover, but the rogue hero was lost amongst the maze of containers. I looked to Abolition and see the hero was running for cover with his Sa58. These guys only had makeroves to start, so I knew one had my M1911 and the other a very scary Sa58. I’d been hit, I’m bleeding badly, my heart was racing, my hands are shaking, and my vision blurred. I were pinned down, injured and unaware of my enemy’s location. Zombies started to swarm from far and wide, surrounding us as bullets were exchanged. Next, ‘crack, crack’, bullets flew past my head. I turn and open fire, but miss. I click the gun to fully automatic and start moving before I’m completely pinned down. As I’d predicted, this rogue hero would be trying to flank me. As I peer around a corner he spots me, we both open fire, but the m1911 is no match for the M4. It isn’t until my clip is empty I release the trigger. He’d dropped and crawled between two containers. As I approach him he begs for his life, speaking his last words, breathing his last breath. The eerie silence that followed sent chills down my spine. One to go, my last known position of him was behind the train. Zombies had closed in quickly and I needed to move, I quickly bandage my wounds. Struggling to see, I approach the edge of the maze of containers, and spot feet running along the opposite side of the train. It appears now that he is alone, he is trying to take up a sniper position. I move closer and peer around a corner. As I poke me head out bullets fly past. He has reached the end of the train, it’s a standoff and now he has zombies heading his way. He has to cross 20m of open ground, but if he does he obtains the upper ground overlooking the entire docks, I wouldn’t stand a chance if he made it up the tree and shrub covered hill. I have to end this now. One last look and I can’t see him. I predict he is 150m-200m away, pinned down against the back of the train, as I’m about to leave my cover another barrage of bullets comes my way. I knew zombies would be right on top of him any second and that would be his last suppressive move. When they stopped I revealed myself. He had started to dash across the open ground. My rifle is shaking, my vision is burred; it’s do or die. He spots me, it’s too late. He is only meters from cover, I shot and he disappears behind a container. As I approach, I am waiting for bullets to rain down from above, feeling as if my imminent death is around the corner I move up anyway. There he is, a bloody mess being feasted on by zombies. As I walk away listening to his screams, I feel nothing, no pain from my wounds, no hurt towards my fallen comrade, no remorse for shooting down fellow heroes. This is Dayz, leave your emotions at the door, this is unforgiving.
  12. there sure is, they call it 'Dayz Origins' great take on the origional Dayz

    DayZ Standalone Discussion

I'd really like to see the devs add the ability to make a splint if you break your legs with a stick or any other strait object combined with a bandage, that way you could at least get back on your feet and limp at a slower speed than walking, but faster than crawling. Also the ability to add attachments to your weapon. E.G you find a knife in a house and some duct tape. You can tape the knife on your rifle as if it were a bayonet, allowing the user the ability to shoot with normal mouse button or lunge/stab with a melee button.
