It has happened...
Richard III in Leicester replied to LaughingJack (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Finally. They should get tougher. I haven't even played yet since this change, but I'm gonna say that anyway. Zombies should be deadly, maybe not when it's just one or two, but they should be constant if you're in the dangerzone and get spotted, and should bite your f#cking head off if they get you cornered. Stealth is key & so it should be........ Which means the zombie aggro has to be working right as well. Will wait and see if it is.. -
No dear that's perfectly normal... ;)

Game is apparently uninstalled?
Richard III in Leicester replied to Morginio's topic in Troubleshooting
This had happened to me a couple weeks ago. I knew the game was still installed cos the files were all there (!) but steam had definitely lost its marbles. A little bit. I didn't need to re-download, just had to re-show steam which partition the steam library was in and then I think I clicked 'install' on DayZ in my steam library tab and it instantly found itself again. -
Very good fellas, ver good :beans: Think I'll watch the earlier episodes too. Nice one.

Someone is very happy right now
Richard III in Leicester replied to EvilTigerAce's topic in General Discussion
Aye you're right, but if the warning shots make the guy run off and leave the area they have done their job. If they turn to shoot back, I can then hit the target and think myself a good soul ;) -
Okay, my turn to complain about stable branch updates.
Richard III in Leicester replied to PhillyT's topic in General Discussion
I know what you mean, but I'm fortunate (in a funny kind of way) that I can't get online to play very often at the mo! So I still have the same desire when I do actually find the time. But if I could be on every evening I know I would probably be saying the same thing. Also, same as you're saying, nearly all my friends have started back/started new with other games as well. But not many other games appeal to me, so I'm still happy, so far ! :beans: -

Crossed the middle of the airstrip? I suppose you were in a quiet server, but still not very clever if you want to stay alive. If I saw someone running across the open ground like that I'd make a point of shooting at them to teach them a lesson. Warning shots maybe... Turning into real shots if they still didn't learn. Everyone I've known in Dayz will tell you the same - NWAF is ALWAYS KOS. No matter how friendly you think others might be, it's just too much of a gamble to leave anyone else on the airbase while you're there. Be prepared for that in the future, might save your beans :beans: -

is it worth buying the mod?
Richard III in Leicester replied to loldude22's topic in General Discussion
Definitely. Everyone should have played the mod extensively before purchasing the SA Alpha. There's so much more to the mod and so much that isn't done yet in the SA. Plus you get Arma2 and OA to play through, and all the mods for those games as well as the DayZ mod. Can't go wrong. -
Oh, DayZ. (FPS test pictures)
Richard III in Leicester replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in Gallery
Can't believe yet another fps thread. This had been bouncing around the forums for years. It's not entirely PC related, it's the software that came from Arma2/Operation arrowhead and so on. DayZ is still based on that. If you're getting low fps I'd bet that if you had task manager open and a gpu monitor (afterburner for example) they'd both show you were using less than 100%. Probably less than 50% of one of the other (CPU - GPU). It's just the game at the moment. It might get better.... It has to. But it isn't really related to your hardware, not in a be-all-and-end-all kind of way. Your hardware is good, about as good as my PC and I get 40-60 FPS most of the time except the 3 cities. I've even known some servers that will let my game run better than others, especially in the mod - and that wasteland mod in arma2 that was horrendous on my machine. It'd use something like 30% of the GPU and I'd never get about 30fps even tho DayZ mod would be 50-60 and use 100%. With the exact same settings and config etc. It's something more sinister than just having a big rig. That doesn't always seem to spell success within the creature that is DayZ. Fingers crossed it will get better. It should run, like you say, as well as crysis 3 and other such titles. It shouldn't shit itself everytime a city or something complex gets close. -
Hotfix changelog: Stable Branch: 0.35.115188

Pourquoi? ? ? Incredibly ignorant post... -
Aah yes raricus pyicus the most celebrated of all pies ;) You're right of course, what was I on about. The apocalypse needs PIES !
-
That pitch looks in too good a condition to be one we'd use ;) There'd have to be pies somewhere in the screenshot as well ! Wow what a thought, they need to add fray bentos pies to the loot table! Would have said Pukka, but I doubt they'd keep long enough to be feasible.

So how does the timer trump server hopping?
Richard III in Leicester replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
If you're playing the game 'properly' how is it inconvenient? If you're playing properly you shouldn't need to move from server to server. Plus I've always found more than enough loot everywhere and the server I regularly join is always around the 40/40 mark. Maybe it's debatable whether it stamps out server hopping altogether but it's got to do something to help deter it. I haven't seen any hoppers for a while anyway. But then I don't camp military spawns. That's what's pointless imo. -
Name is Ricardo. Me and the cat, Jeff, have been on DayZ for between 1 & 2 years now. I say me and the Jeff, he mostly just sits on the keyboard watching - occasionally nudging me when I miss a can of tuna while looting houses.. Not ok to leave tuna behind. Was admin of some mod servers until the standalone, now they are closed. Hence I'm talking on this forum a lot more now & not my old server ones. Glad to be here tho & loving the development so far!

Or Namalsk if there are any/many servers still running it... I loved that version of the mod. -

Richard III in Leicester replied to Cenobyte's topic in New Player Discussion
Vanilla all the way. Epoch is for those who cry when they die (imho). If you've never played it before I highly recommend playing the mod and learning all about it, it'll stand you in good stead for when the SA gets further along its development. -

What are you thinking about the binocular?
Richard III in Leicester replied to DjarumX's topic in Suggestions
Yes Binocs soon I hope so too. Sure they can't be too far off (he says as if knowing anything at all about the implementation schedule). Lol. Fingers crossed tho hey. -
Sound of Flies round dead bodies.
Richard III in Leicester replied to Putts_UK's topic in General Discussion
Maybe flies appearing instantly is too unrealistic, can agree with that. But for them to not appear at all is also unrealistic, as others have also mentioned above. So could have them on a timer; maybe after a few minutes the flies start buzzing around. Plus I hope they can remove the corpse timer at some point too, so the bodies stay until hidden or server restart. There would be bodies littering the map, the mod had bodies and dead things and bodybags etc around Balota and Stary and Berezino, and all over. Should be more of that coming back in future SA patches I'm hoping, to add to the scene. It's all quite clean at the moment, needs to be a bit grimmer. -
Glad I found there is a thread about this already. Great ideas. I was gonna post something suggesting beards grow over time? And so giving a visual effect of the old 'x days' survived we had in the mod. The more days go by the longer your stubble->beard becomes. Plus we could use the razors for shaving styles if we so choose... Edit - ok I see it's already suggested above. Strong work !

Richard III in Leicester replied to Putts_UK's topic in General Discussion
Yes I agree it was a good thing I hope it returns at some point. Always good when you're out exploring and suddenly hear those familiar flies buzzing.
