I was sat in that very hut about an hour ago ! Refilled a couple of mags and ate lunch. Yes that would be another great spot. There's a tap in Pusta as well so not too far for water. -
Horses in DayZ Standalone
Richard III in Leicester replied to FlyingCork's topic in General Discussion
Animals would be a server item like cars etc would be and were in the mod. They would be persistant to that server surely? Therefore not logging in or out ever. Hence my main point of concern. Where would you put a horse during the hours/days when you cannot be in DayZland? Tethering it could be a viable option I reckon. Near a pond. -
bought the game again on new account because someone stole my key

Your IP is banned maybe? Don't know. -
I don't know, hope to see utes one day tho. Would be pointless at the minute wouldn't it to be fair, as there's no boats to sail there with yet. Or choppers to kamikaze out of..

Did you run a DayZ mod server? If so...
Richard III in Leicester replied to napalmdog's topic in General Discussion
My first and best server was public hive and there were no admin tools just a battleeye login and an FTP to the server itself. But it was great we had a good community of players and for a good while didn't have much trouble from hackers. When the server was at its most popular and would get to full numbers there'd be a massive rise in hacker occurrences. Usually God mod teleport hackers that one by one went around the server killing people. I'd always shut it down and find them and ban then and it'd be OK again for a while. We did whitelist for a while as well but it became stale with just the same faces. Server I had after that was private hive so that me and my friends and old server regulars could try the different maps. But that was never anywhere near as good as the original. Admin tools I had were just to read the logs after something happened to find out who did it, and to kick/ban and post details to the old server community forums. And help with players in need via same forums. No tools needed really, BEC was enough to take care of messaging and restarts. Antihax probably helped, as it should do, but mainly having admins who were there when hacking teleporting juvenile knobheads appeared was always the best server tool. -

Had a camp around mysh once myself as well. Just behind the barns to the West. Ground dropped away to the West and you couldn't see the camp until you were on it. -
Suggestion: logging out like in MMO
Richard III in Leicester replied to roguetrooper's topic in Suggestions
Ultima online had it right I always thought. 90 seconds if you've been fighting or aren't tucked away somewhere 'safe'. Just registering what could count as that safe space is the issue. But as it is I think works but with a bit longer on the clock. -
Radios, short wave short range etc and even a possible long range using the radio towers on the map perhaps? That could act like the old side chat did. That's the only way we all used to build community on my old mod servers. Server Comms and so on. I'm hoping as soon as radios work and become somewhat normal to have on and chat over a community aspect will return to the game. Cos at the moment it really is a gun fest.

Horses in DayZ Standalone
Richard III in Leicester replied to FlyingCork's topic in General Discussion
Aye, lots of grass obviously that goes without saying. Just someone mentioned the use of the hay mounds to feed them that's all. Plus I'm sure that if it gets to the point where teams of players can ready and maintain a Heli, like in the mod, then why wouldn't they also be able to take care of an animal or two. Pros could be its off road ability and leaping fences, cons that it needs a lot of food and is a big easy soft target for zeds and bullets etc. Scout horses, like dragoons could be an interesting role for a team member to have. The more I think about it the better it seems, but I still don't know if it would be in keeping with the feel of the game. I know that's completely subjective. -
Horses in DayZ Standalone
Richard III in Leicester replied to FlyingCork's topic in General Discussion
The irony of your post being filled with irony spilled over into your misspelling of irony ! How ironic ! Hah I don't think horses would be a good idea. Just a noisy, hungry, zombie attracter isn't it? Though maybe that could just be a part of the pros vs cons of having one if they did put them in the game. Where would you keep it while you're logged off? And wouldn't it still need a lot of food and water whilst you're logged off? And fresh hay would be very hard to come by when the world has come to an end wouldn't it? Just thinkin out loud, so to speak. -

Berezino pond, Lopatino-Vybor willows, the last house SE of Pulkovo, and Willow lake on the SW tip. My best finds in the mod. Will be trying them all in standalone once it's possible ;) Tulga is a good shout though. Nice and handy, a friend of mine had a single tent in that area in our mod days for us to use as a fresh spawn re-gearing station for when we'd be killed. Could be a good spot for the standalone. -
Pretty certain he was joking about toothache anyway.. Scurvy etc would be interesting! Makes a case for apple picking from the trees we see full of apples to go in with the berry picking we've got so far.

Too many Pipsis! I agree more must be done for illness and infection etc, to make use of the medi supplies and add more risk to the gameworld. I'd like a bit of randomness, maybe a very low chance of some random affliction like the common cold(?) (I've got a cold at the minute and it's summer how have I caught a cold in June?) But most illness should be from cause/effect basis. Like said above, if you get wet, cold and so on or leave a wound to fester. Fairly confident more is going to be developed with future patches, once a few of the broken bits and bytes have been taken care of.

Yeah there wouldn't really be the weight behind the fire axe like the pick axe has. I've used pick axes to smash rocks before, they are great at it... A fire axe would probably bounce off and then you'd have the axe part in your face. Not trying to say it's a completely unreasonable idea, it'd be better than nothing obviously but if the fire axe was to be used for mining it'd have to have a way lower success rate. Possible accidents might be a laugh as well. Another thing the bandits could make their hostages do...

Soo... Should I go Mod or Standalone?
Richard III in Leicester replied to Iperrymarkz's topic in General Discussion
You've already missed the best days of the mod, and if you aren't even thinking of playing any ArmA2 or operation arrowhead I'd say maybe the SA is your best bet. It will get better, it's buggy and early dev at the min but you should already know that. The mod does still have a lot more to do than SA at the minute, but as I say, SA will get more and will obviously overtake the mod in due time. Though I'd still then contradict all I've said by saying dude get Arma 2 & OA and play the mod it's f**king great. Then get standalone later - once you've learnt the ways of the mod. You'll prolly like the SA better because you'll have a better jist of what to do and will see the additions the standalone has already got over the mod and appreciate the growth of the SA more. -
Some form of planting and harvesting could be accomplished tho couldn't it? Obviously not in realtime! But plant some old spuds and then a few days later potato plants --> couple more days new potatoes could be dug up?? Tho at the moment it's not needed because it's already very very easy to never go hungry in the game. Once hunting and cooking is up and working I hope they make hunger a little more of an issue. Back to the original point; I like that idea a lot, caged/pet rabbits as well for food supply. Tether a goat to a post, may be another idea?

dropping your weapins when u log out should be a feature!

No. It really shouldn't. Agree! -
It doesn't feel like I'm in an apocalypse?
Richard III in Leicester replied to oanj's topic in General Discussion
That was all there in the mod, so I'm guessing and hoping it will make a return. With more. A lot of the map and the towns etc are far too clean and tidy at the moment. It is like a stroll in the country. It looks pretty; yeah there'd still be pretty countryside but there has to be large areas of devestation as well I think. Ruins, heli wrecks, signs of military intervention and piles of corpses etc... Berezino in the mod was a lot more like post-apocalyptia with lots of roadblocks and broken tanks and ruined cars, medical tents with bodies all around and so on. So I'd think It must be something they're developing. -
Computer for running DayZ Standalone ?
Richard III in Leicester replied to RiasGremory's topic in General Discussion
Bout £500 for the PC and £100-150 for a good screen. So yeah around £600 would do it well. http://3xs.scan.co.uk/ will do built pcs around this pricemark. -

Lol I forgot too - remembered and checked one earlier today, yes you can see over the fence of either side in the deerstand but not the front facing bit. Ladder glitched when I tried to climb down, broken legs now. Damn.

When I first made my old one the logo didn't show at first, sometimes after server restart it would work. Or it could be the image is too large and the server rejects it. What size is the image 128x128 pixels?

And you've put the url of the public folder's link into your arma2 profile page right?
