Things that make me wonder about the whole DayZ deal and idea/direction of the game in general.
Richard III in Leicester replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
I've said before, Berezino in the mod was the place I thought most in the right direction re apoc feeling, why they've totally cleaned it up is not for me to guess at. I hope it gets remodelled so that some of the roadblocks, wrecks and dead bodies come back. Besides the broken windows it's pretty pristine out there at the minute, not like the world ended, more like all the people simply vanished. If I can remember how to post images I'll post a shot from the road which could be what it develops into I hope. And I agree completely with the Namalsk statement ! I'd love it to be a lot more like that. -
Multiple Public Hives / Central Loot Economies
Richard III in Leicester replied to Cpanther's topic in Suggestions
Sounds interesting, a bit like how vilayer had their own public hive for the mod alongside the official public hive. Maybe you do get a 'better' (ie less twatish) standard of player in exp, possibly because those are the players who care more about the game and want to help it to develop, and want to be first to test new features even if they are buggy. So they are all in the same boat and of a similar mindset. Whereas in stable there's much more of a broad spectrum of people playing and no community and so you are much more likely to meet people who couldn't care less, who will troll first roleplay second and be happy as long as they've got a good gun animation and plenty of ammo. Back to your main point, I think the point is valid, and to me makes sense. I'd still doubt if it would make any difference though in the future. Maybe they could set up regional sub hives? Think that would help? -
Random DayZ splash screens with "Receiving" in the top left corner
Richard III in Leicester replied to Wafflegeddon's topic in Troubleshooting
Just happened to me. Been happening all evening but I think it just got me killed. I was in the receiving screen with it flashing every second and then changing from one version of the DayZ splash screen to the other and then I heard a shot. Have a cigar that man. Have you heard of any kind of fix for this? -
Well you know you have to rub the rags 3 times first right? To warm the magic up.

Use a splint or morphine - you've just got damaged limbs and it affects your aim. It will make it steady again try it. Your limbs have their own health bars and when you get damaged they too take damage and this ocassionally manifests itself in your ability to hold your rifle steady. Well if you have already tried a splint and it hasn't worked I'm lost. Cos aiming for me is fine, just how it was pre-update.
-
Can already kind of do that if you nudge into them enough ;) but I get what you're on about. Also - I too hope they add this to the game. Shoving, kicking, weapon bashing or blocking. Would be good ways to bring more to the fighting.

Good stuff. One day when I've got more time spare I will read through it all properly! I too am a bit of a screenshot hoarder/wannabe photographer. Those are some nice shots you've posted.

Favorite things about .49 so far
Richard III in Leicester replied to Death By Crowbar's topic in General Discussion
You need to drop some of your loose change ;) too much jingling noise an they're on you haha I have had that as well tho, if out in an open field they seem to aggro from 100-200m away sometimes!! But in built up areas I can stealth without a problem now up until about 15 feet away. -

Love the doors finally making sounds Like the added challenge of cold/temperature, I've got the wool dinner jacket on and I'm toasty so I would say that. Rain and wetness is a pain but I welcome it cos I want it to be hardcore. Like that fighting zeds with melee is better. Animals have taken a step in the right direction with the Ai hope it continues to develop. Like that arms seem to be a lot rarer. I got a 22 rifle and 40 rounds, not many left, and luckily also a 9mm pistol but can only chamber that. 7 9mm bullets left. Like that zed aggro is less unbelievable, if I walk and stay out of eyeline I don't get aggroed, stealth is good again. Running instantly wakes them up. Good times so far! Dislikes, so many restarts. Guess that's something the servers are struggling with. -
I saw 5 people yesterday in my sojourn to Elektro scouting for early stage supplies, first people I'd seen in ages! First fella I shouted hello to, he then ran off to then return and attack me after he'd worked out how to climb the right ladder to get to me (I was on the firestation roof being yolo for a change, hoping there might be leet lootz). He ignored me speaking and swung at me with a baton but I killed him with a .22 to his scruffy face. He had a crafted back pack - thank you. Others I saw all approached and waved, said nothing, then quickly left me to it. It added to my feeling of immersion, one even (I think) tried to hit some zeds that were running after me at one point. Didn't hang around to find out really. Made me hopeful that the world is not gonna be too full of idiots this time....

Dumb people aren't meant to survive. Leave them to it. You won and survived. He was bin fodder from the start it seems.

Any restriction on some server hosts rapidly restart server for loot?
Richard III in Leicester replied to qwer4790's topic in General Discussion
If that's true, it's just a shitty server and my best advice would be to move on and hopefully find a good server that plays properly. Don't let them being dick heads ruin your experience is what I say. -
Trying to play dayz mod! Help!
Richard III in Leicester replied to JanKR's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Your pic didn't upload dude. Have you got the right version of mod to match the servers you are trying to join? -
Trying to play dayz mod! Help!
Richard III in Leicester replied to JanKR's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
All your listed servers are epoch and you don't show epoch as installed as my first guess, or is that not what you're after? Also, it looks like you need to download the later version of mod. Have you ran both arma2 and OA as admin at least once? It sets up some necessary files when you do that. -
Not everyone in this game is a prick. ( love you chinese girl )
Richard III in Leicester replied to papafruit's topic in New Player Discussion
That's right, but I'd think that by role playing the players should even more want to be on the lookout for danger and so on -

Richard III in Leicester replied to papafruit's topic in New Player Discussion
Yeah, if they are role playing they need to take on the chin, and next time learn how to stay in cover or hidden and thereby not get KoS because they weren't seen! Or better yet learn to keep your head on a swivel so that you hopefully see any attackers first and flip their ambush back on them. One of my best memories of standalone so far was turning over a group of bandits in this same way. -
Covering yourself in zombie guts.
Richard III in Leicester replied to Mangina's topic in Suggestions
Soon as they fix the zeds so that stealthing is actually a viable way to go, like it was in the mod, the happier I'll be. Their xray vision and spidey senses are deadly at the minute. If zombie guts are not the way to camouflage from zombs what do you think could be used? No one is allowed to say ghillie suit. ;) -
Lol someone got out of the wrong side of the bed!
-
I like this, could even be a player craftable board that you can put up youself if you want. Though could become trolls galore. Could follow a group of survivors or bandits hoping they sooner or later go back to their base camp. When they aren't at home could loot what you want then put a sign up in the nearest town stating exactly where the camp is hehe.

I do also hope for exactly what you're talking about. We need harrowing moments where the zombies seem completely unmanageable. Wandering hoards and overrun buildings etc and the pile ups. Yes. Grimmer the better. -

What about this bit of marketing/literary genius? pic.twitter.com/OKTF5sps5H lol -
I'm agreeing with you don't get your knickers in a twist. The statement is the same, I know what I posted and what you posted, and the drives will help with the game. FPS is done through processors so obviously a disc drive wont really affect that, but it will be something that makes the game run better. As you said, in terms of speed drop prevention.

Weather patterns in DayZ
Richard III in Leicester replied to karlkurtz32's topic in General Discussion
It might be modelled on UK weather patterns, perpetual rain -> sun -> cloudy -> rain -> sun -> cloudy etc
