    those moments.. cry OR laugh

You can use the "i" in game to see leaderboard?
  2. Lock it...heck, I'll just shoot the window out, and let myself right on in. For as much as you want to keep your "stuff", this just isn't going to work how you want it to...

    I'm new, looking for 1v1s

wait, you can read that? I was thumbing through some translation sites...

Best way to get blood back?

Acquire hunting knife, hatchet and matches. Find an animal. Kill the animal. Mousewheel Gut Animal. Go to forest, open gear, mouseover hatchet, "Gather wood" Open gear, mouseover matches, "make fireplace" Look at fireplace on the ground, mousewheel "light fire" Look at fire, mousewheel "Cook raw meat" Eat meat, restore health. This method is more effective than canned food.

    Constantly blurred vision

First, make sure you have post processing turned off, second, try closing out of the game and coming back in. Occasionally my graphics go haywire (everything is blurry, like playing in extreme fog) and logging all the way out, and restarting the game usually helps.

    M4A3 CCO Question.

Personally, I haven't had any problems with the reddot, however, real ballistics are factors in this game. If you're above/below a target, you need to take that into account as well as the actual bullet travel distance.

I think I have an infection

Just for the love of all that's good, do NOT get your friend sick.
  8. It wasn't a tree, or a door that got a teammate. No no. It was bad team placement. I had logged out for a bit, and announced over TS that I was logging back in. While I'm loading in, there's a huge commotion over TS. Apparently, my character loaded in right on top of a teammate and broke him, bled him, and knocked him out. Doesn't happen as often as falling through rocks, or getting slammed with a door, but was mildly amusing at the time.

BETA Patch 94876 Broke; what next?

Search. Forums. Feature. please and thank you. If you're a good little searcher, they'll even tell you how to revert back to a previous beta patch.
  11. Lets stop this whole mumble/ts/ventrillo "exploit" thing now, shall we. Though there's not a way to explain 3rd party comms in game, 3rd party comms are simply Meta-gaming. Meta-gaming is allowed.

    Subtle signs of a bandit

    1. heartbeats are already in the game. 2. Knowing your enemy from a distance doesn't help the flavor of the game. It's great not knowing who to trust. It forces you to think, weigh odds, assess risk/reward. 3. If you watch a town long enough before entering, you know who the "bandits" are, and you know who the survivors are--awareness is key. Patience is key. I don't think bloodstains will help anyone identify anything, because at this point, we all have blood on our hands in one way or another.

    Chat, specifically all chat.

This is a double-edged sword. I find side channel breaks immersion (feeling alone in the world is just one more great aspect of the mod) and is clunky. It's distracting and usually filled with mindless dribble, though occasionally hilarious. On the flip side it can facilitate some great group-play, and has a longer range to call out enemies (or friends) who are crossing your path, as opposed to direct communication, which, when typed, has an extremely short range.
  14. you can keybind a weapon drop... in fact, it's default is left control (x2). I've used this many times, and in a group, when we're just chilling, it's good to have your weapon down. Doesn't work for a pistol, but you can aim at the ground and use (default, ALT) to look up. Just the other day I encountered another player, and in addition to giving me space, as a good-will gesture he flat out unequipped and put his flashlight back in his hands.

    How to start off?

In real life, grab a box of kleenex, some asprin and possibly some alcohol/cigarettes. Load into the game. Attempt to survive. You can watch as many videos as you want, but honestly, the only way you're going to learn is by dying. A lot. Between deaths, debrief. Learn from your mistakes-- you'll catch on.

TUTORIAL: How to lose everything in DayZ!

Pretty sure some of the most epic encounters in this game, at least for the group I run with, involve some sort of friendly fire....

    Female skins??

You can't find a female skin in game, but when you spawn on the coast (as a new life) you get the choice to be male or female. There is currently no other model variants of the female either. It's the one skin when you choose it, and you cannot equip camo or guillie in game.
  19. "He warned us because it's supposed to be a big decision. Just like being something other than a persons born gender is a big decision in their life." It is a HUGE decision. At the moment, it's the difference between wearing a ghillie suit and not wearing a ghillie suit.
  20. *Goes and grabs Popcorn* This is going to get interesting in a hurry.

    Fairwell, had enough of this

Unfortunately for you, you made some glaring mistakes--it's not about KOS or COD kiddies. You saw him, he saw you, you let him out of your sights. You walked the same way he was heading placing you and him in the same area of operation, without knowing for certain if either of you were truly "friendly". You visibly had decent gear, and "walked through town". Personally, I prefer to watch and avoid, but if I had been that other guy, I would have blown you up too because you didn't walk away and you were in my area clearly armed, and thus, a threat. Meeting people on the outskirts of a town, or in the middle of a town is asking for trouble. Anxieties are high, and food is precious. Learn from this death--there are good people out there, and more often than not, you'll never meet them because they'll see you, watch you, and track you until you're no longer a threat and then withdraw. You're more than likely not going to find a "friendly" by walking up on people and screaming HELLO into your mic.

    Unusual Events

    * Server this happened on: Seattle 36 * Time that it happened including your timezone: Around 630 PM EST * What happened during the incident: It rained, then stopped, then rained then stopped, then went night, then went back day, then went night (All that happening very abruptly) then was turned into a dog, was given a bad vehicle named Honeybee, then teleported. Stopped after about 15 minutes, however it is still currently night when it shouldn't be.

    No competent player should die

I'm so thoroughly confused as to why everyone seems to want to be "the sniper".
