All I can say is hang in there. I'm sure the Devs now realize some of the oversight, and they will work to change it. Be patient while they work it out. Until then, can you test more ways to die for us please?

If I'm not mistaken, the wilderness spawn is literally in the middle of nowhere....Can't get water from a tree, and last I checked zombies don't spawn in the woods. I think there's also a spawn point on the coast that gets called wilderness, but that too is pretty remote.
-
*Sigh* We're not going to help you cheat. Man up, grab the weapon and deal with the zombies. Better yet, just lose the zombies. The only reason you truly need a weapon in this game is to deal with other players and kill fuzzy animals. You showed your hand in the first post. We're not telling.

This. Second, there are two coyote packs...one is the starter, one is the massive 24? slot pack. Third, before you go running around assuming exploit, if they did indeed have a starter pack, they may have had a tent stashed with the gear but no bags, and were in town looking for a larger pack.... There are just so many variables that you don't know, so please don't just jump to conclusions. It's really bad form.

What has happened to this community?
Baelethal replied to mordrag's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Welcome back. The mod exploded player wise, and well, it's not singing camp songs around a camp fire any more. Avoid other players until you can watch them for a while. They'll show their true colors. Approach carefully now. People have gotten more manipulative and trigger happy. Stay frosty. -
I'm thinking this is an ArmA3 ability. I think I remember reading somewhere that the engine currently doesn't support that type of thing. Soon maybe. I sure hope so ^.^

Stand up. Vault. Try a few times. It'll either make the walls appear and you can attempt to find the door, or it will shove you out past the walls. Looks like you're really stuck >.> Bad luck.

This game just has a really steep learning curve. Adapt. Overcome. Survive. If you want something easy and gilded, this isn't what you want. I encourage you to find a group. I encourage you to keep trying. Is this game frustrating? You betcha. Is it rewarding once you start to get the hang of it? Big yup. You can lose a zombie. You don't need a weapon. It's not always about violence....

If you're stealthy and a good shot, the crossbow is as good a weapon as any. Headshots. If you miss, you're probably gonna have a bad day.

Why is there so many pussy's on DayZ

I've used that line as a ploy...not gonna lie. Not sure they're all "idiots" who say that. -

I'd be inclined to agree. For as many pages as this has acquired, we're still civil. I suppose beans to OP, except I'm out  OP referring to Original Poster or Original post. -

Troll? Nope. Carebear? Somedays. You've never been on TS with me when I get contact. Apparently I'm hilarious to listen to? Teammates have had to coax me to kill another player. Other times I pull the trigger and don't have to think twice about it... Maybe I'm one of those extreme cases. I'd like to hope not. It's not about the avatar, it's about the human behind that avatar--griefing just isn't what I personally get off on. It's as much about their story as it is about mine. -

You're right, there are far scarier things in the real world. I've witnessed some of those things. I've experienced terror and horror, and maybe that helps me to relate? I have a life outside of the game-- it's prosperous and full of rainbow eating, butterfly shitting unicorns at the moment. Guilt, and other emotions ebb and flow, be they in game or in real life. I take this game as seriously as real life (well, almost as seriously) because that's how I play. I'm glad you can play this game for mere entertainment, just realize that I too play for entertainment. For an escape. Having genuine emotions for a game that tries to simulate real life, I feel, is a non issue. And yes, this topic has consumed all my beans :( Better go over to the survivor forums and rustle me up some more.... -
Why is there so many pussy's on DayZ
Baelethal replied to @Williamcullum1's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ok, so I'm a pussy. Half the time, playing this game, I'm scared. I'm immersed. I'm living through my character on a level you may not be able to comprehend. Often, as my fingers twitch across the keyboard to strafe from bullet fire, I'll physically gasp and twitch behind the screen. Why? Immersion. I hesitate when pulling the trigger. Past murders occasionally resurface. I feel genuinely bad about killing another player. I don't think this makes me a bad player. I don't think this makes me a bad person. I don't think I'm taking this game "too seriously" either. This game is a sandbox simulation. The fact that I can identify with the other characters allows me to maintain my sense of humanity out of game. If I wanted mindless killing I'd go play some other game. Every player has a story. Every player is on a journey. I should feel bad about snuffing out their story, even if it's only for a little while. That's how I know I'm still human. Sometimes, firefights are so intense I have to walk away from the game for a little while. Sometimes, I get caught up in the moment so thoroughly, that the decisions I'm forced to make are instinctual. Some kills I have to try and convince myself that I made the right choice. These feelings are part of the reason I keep coming back. The emotional stress can be a kind of high. To be honest, I'd rather have more "pussies" playing this game. There'd be more co-op and less senseless killing if clicking that mouse button affected you more. I'd rather play with people who think about what their choices mean in game as opposed to running around willy-nilly with no care about what actions mean in the grand scheme of things. This may be stupid to you, but from my point of view, I feel you're missing a huge part of the experience if you can play without emotion or effect. Lets just agree to disagree, and play the way we feel is best, since there's no real right or wrong way to play a game, especially in a sandbox....- 265 replies

Picked up an M16 off a corpse a few days back. Had never shot one. Scared myself a bit because of it's fire power. Promptly traded it for a good ol' M4 off the poor bloke I blasted to bits and buried that M16 with his corpse. Beautiful weapon though.

Stand up. "C" Vault. "V" the walls should either appear, or push you through the walls and outside. Took me a couple tries the last time I spawned in a floor....

The only thing you'd be hard pressed to find outside of major cities are Blood Bags, but if you're a solo player, they're useless anyways. Eating cooked meat is your best option. Morphine can spawn in Military spawns. Painkillers are everywhere and helo crashes can have med boxes, as mentioned above.

This. This is amazing. Keep spreading the good cheer. Not everyone is out for blood. Beans for you!

Just some ideas from a guy who loves this game
Baelethal replied to kugelmeister's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think more map would be lovely. I'm not going to lie, you lost me at "xp". Personally, I don't want to "level up." I've been there. I've done that. I don't want this in DayZ. My character gets better because I get better. As a player, I improve. That's all the level-up that I need. Classes I'm not sold on either. I've played that other zombie mod, and choosing, I think it was Pilot, for the geo-cache option is truly the only way to go, and I'd hate to see this lovely experiment pigeon-holed like that. As for pain I'm not entirely sold on this idea either. I've never been in a position of needing a medical supply and not having one, simply because I pay attention to what I have in stock. I have a basic load out that I carry at all times. If I use something from my active inventory, I switch the extra from my pack into my active inventory and actively search to replace what I just used. I never run out of stuff, so I guess I just don't understand the need to make pain not last forever. I'd like to see some sort of party type system implemented, but friendly fire needs to remain on. It's a little bit hard to group with strangers now-a-days, but with some work, and the right tools (here's looking to test walkie talkies?) I think this community can accomplish great things. -
I'm not a great DayZ player. I'm not really a marksman. I don't dare even pick up a sniper, because I know that I'd be garbage at it. It's not my thing. However, I don't believe sniping needs to be any harder, per se. Sniping is "easy" because you're giving them a stationary target to shoot at. I've been hit on the run once in game. I gave silent props to that guy. It was a solid shot. Most "snipers" I've met in game truly aren't that great unless the target is sitting perfectly still or is moving in a manner that's extremely easy to track, and even then you need to accommodate for bullet travel time. There are known "sniper holes". Know where they are and where you are in relationship to them and route accordingly. I guess I don't really feel that sniper rifles need to be changed. Sure sometimes they're a little bit cheap, but it's all part of the experience. Better luck next life?

I dont' usually post video, but this post needs this video. Every time I encounter a player, it's different. Every time it's under different circumstances, with different results. But just remember, that one person you KOS could have been the person who was willing to help you out.

Yes, it is entirely possible to gear up without ever entering Cherno or Elektro. If you can get inland a ways, there are barns where you can pick up some starting weapons, and food to keep moving inland, and hit some of the smaller cities inland, and gear from there. Deer stands and helicopter crash sites are also great places to hit to find higher powered weapons and ammunition.

Duck you all to bell you worthless quacks.

Is it bad that once, I put my pistol in my starting pack because I felt being unarmed and approaching a fellow survivor with gear would yield better results. Once we talked a while, and I was looting around, he asked if I was having any luck finding a weapon. I said no. He walked over toward where I was looting, I slid my pistol from my pack and unloaded into his face before he could react. Got a shiny M4 CCO SD, a bunch of tools, a new pack, more mags for my pistol, then booked it out of town. Even though you're unarmed....how can I be sure? -
There's so much that could be said to the OP, but I feel like my words would be wasted. I'll just leave you with this. 30 minutes to judge a game isn't nearly enough. You had the misfortune to encounter people who don't view the world in the same manner you do. The community on the Forums, overall, seems intelligent and articulate. Good luck in whatever your new endeavors are....
