    Snipers are OP?

Oh I LOVE spray and pray DMR "snipers". Keep shooting love, I'm coming to you!

    Snipers are OP?

Don't make yourself an easy target. Use cover and concealment. Be aware of when you stop, and where you stop. Up in those firehouse towers? If you're not in a good spot you're going to be sniped. Don't run in a straight line--the more unpredictable you are, the less likely they'll get the lead on you. There are so many wanna-be long range riflemen it's rather amusing. Just because you can sit in a bush in a wookie suit doesn't make you a sniper. I've been hit by a sniper once in my whole gaming experience, and I gave him silent props on the You Are Dead screen because he had hit me on the move with a very short window of exposure. He took the gamble, timed his shot and won.

    Randomly Died

Don't go spreading Admin rumors-- Could have been almost anything that killed you. You'll never truly know. Could have been hacks. Could have been glitch. Could have been two snipers working together. Who knows.

    Ended up in Gorka

Go make your own fun? How are we supposed to tell you what you should be doing? It's your story and your journey. Hop to it.

    ALT F4 Data.

If you have to hard close the game for anything other than a frozen game then you're going about this all wrong. If you're hitting esc and aborting for things other than potty breaks or being done with the session, there's a good chance you're going about it wrong...(not saying there aren't exceptions, but we're mostly adults here, and know right from wrong. Lets use our brains.)

Is anyone using chat or ingame VOIP

Until Rocket and Co. fix it, it goes more like 'Stop right there!' Alt F4 'Sigh'

Is anyone using chat or ingame VOIP

It works for me. Find a friend to try and test it out? If you're using the mic to talk in game or hoping to hear other people, make sure your settings are turned up in the options.

Will Dayz ever have a main goal?

Goals of DayZ: Scavenge. Slay. Survive. You get to choose what you scavenge, who and what you slay, and how best to survive.

    English road signs mod

If I'm not mistaken, you can't mod this mod--and I'm not sure adding English subtype would be good. The way I see it, it would ruin the immersion and the feelings of being lost and helpless. The signs aren't hard to read once you've been around the map a few times.

  11. Infections are fairly easy to avoid. Avoid being hit by Zed. Don't stay out in the rain--find cover. If it's night, you probably want to find shelter or make a fire from time to time. It's about taking care of yourself. It's subtle. It's more than just zombies and killing players, it's about surviving and thinking about things that are environmental that can have an effect on your health.

    Quitting the game

*sigh* If you get shot and get some cover, are you leaving to avoid a fight, or do you genuinely have to go at that very moment? Personally, I feel that since I got myself into that mess, I'd have to stay on server and get myself out, but perhaps I hold myself to higher standards. Ultimately, the choice is yours until someone comes up with a hard and fast ROE for people who can't seem to govern themselves and cheat death in a perma death game....So hard and fast, you can abort whenever.

Why is there so many pussy's on DayZ

Then you're in the wrong thread.

Why is there so many pussy's on DayZ

I've read your posts. I've watched your antics. We're going to have to agree to disagree because it's pretty obvious you won't extend the courtesy of being civil. DayZ is just so much more than people are giving it credit for, and I think that is a real shame. For some reason my multi quote hates me, so I'll just continue to address you. Sure, we need people who will PVP, much like you need people like me who are willing to play as a "survivor". We're locking in a two-step, because without one of us, this game isn't as multifaceted, and falls flat. However, we could live without people who can't see this as more than just a "game" for "lulz"-- people who can't empathize with others, but that's life, and I'll deal with it accordingly, just don't be assuming because I think and play differently than you makes me an inferior person/player. I don't need any fancy invite to some bandit clan to feel special, I just need to survive.
  15. Sure. We can remove the Zombies, but then what are we going to call this mod Day? That's surely not right....

Why is there so many pussy's on DayZ

*sigh* This thread isn't a discussion on PVP vs PVE or bandits vs survivors. As far as I'm concerned we're all survivors, just some of us choose to survive differently than others. What we're talking about here are emotions and how thoughts and perceptions shape the way we view this game. Please try to keep up with the thread and not derail it into a topic that never leads anywhere productive and has been argued to death elsewhere.

    Why do regular/recruit servers exist?

Personally, I don't like the cross hair, I don't care for 3rd person, I hate name tags and the range that is visible with them. Waypoints bother me. I play on servers without these things. (My home server has been having trouble turning off cross hair and waypoint, not sure why) I avoid servers that have these things enabled. I'd like to see everyone playing by the same standards. I feel that cross hairs hold your hand. Learn to shoot from the hip or get into iron sights. I don't know who you are standing out there in the field, and I shouldn't know who you are on a simple mouse-over. I should have to walk up to you and start up a conversation. I should have to ask for your name. Rangefinders and GPS are "rare" for a reason. They're powerful tools. You take their power away when you give any player a waypoint or range on mouse-over. Should I mention "lol snipers" on a server with distance to target? It's way too easy to sit on that hill in that shiny bush suit, at least make them work for the kill. Make them pull out their in game map and rough range in buildings or make them search for those elusive range finders. I'd like to see "hardcore" in a sense. I feel that having all those shiny extras diminish my gameplay. The grit in this game feels authentic (or as authentic as possible) and it loses that feeling with the extras. Taking the cross hairs, nameplates and waypoints away won't hurt anyone.
  18. Find out what your "home server" is running for specs. If it's lower that what you're running, you just have to wait for them to update the server (which they should be doing shortly) or downgrade your files to match the server. I think 6updater auto updates your files, so I'm not sure how you would revert using it. I install all my files manually. It's probably going to just be a waiting game for your server to update :(

Can't you just shoot them in the head?

Personally, I don't usually have a problem with head shots unless it's those hopper crouched zombies...their hit box feels odd to me. That being said, I'm more comfortable with a body shot--larger target, and given lag and desync, I'd rather quickly place two or three rounds in the torso. If it's a player, I put rounds down range and into them steadily until I see them fall over, and then I put a few more down range to be sure. When I approach to loot, I'll usually put one more in the head just to be sure. Wasting ammo? I don't think so, since this has saved my life more than once. A teammate and I, combined, put 4 mags into a player from a 1911, and that player still had time to axe my teammate before he fell over dead. This was before any nerf. Sometimes servers don't react as well as you'd hope they do. Some of the weapon damage doesn't make complete sense to me, but I approach this game with an Adapt. Overcome. Survive mentality. Regardless of what the developers do to this game, I will still try to find some way to survive. If it means being aware that my bullets hit like nerf darts, then so be it. I'll carry more ammunition, try harder for the head, and pull the trigger center mass faster.

So I stop being a bandit for the day.

I'm not 100% sure why people think this whole "friendly" business is impossible. It's not easy, but it's doable. Every time I've made the choice to be friendly, I've found friendlies. I've also found some un-friendlies, and unluckily for them, my aim has improved. I've had 4 new steam adds to my friends list--random strangers that I met in Elektro, nonetheless. Armed and potentially dangerous. There are a few more I didn't get their names or IDs. I've grouped up with at least two of them at a later date. I don't play like an idiot. I watch. I wait. I make my approach carefully. Calculated.

This is why i love this game

Some of the ideas here are good, not novel, but good nonetheless. The largest factor, why "bandits" don't bandit as much, and we're merely killing is because of communication, as you mentioned, but also because people will usually just abort out of game. Sometimes I chose to play the thug, but the only way to safely do that is putting a bullet between someone's eyes, and even then sometimes they get the abort off and I lose the gear they had. Part of the beauty of this whole experience is choice. Just because you always choose the easy option, doesn't mean that option is the most rewarding or satisfying. Little story: I was on TS with the group I run with. One of our members comes over mic that two guys just mugged him and are holding him ransom. They broke his legs and took his weapons. Some of the guys on TS told him to just log out. Some of us groaned at the suggestion. The person held hostage said he didn't have much better to do, and who knew where this could lead. What would he lose by going along with it, an Enfield? Long story short, his captors made the mistake of driving next to a corpse that still had a weapon. Hostage rolled off the atv, grabbed the gun and made short work of his captors. Stole back his stuff and booked with the ATV. Needless to say, he could have just aborted, but if he had, he would have missed out on this whole experience. That's part of what this game is about--experiences.

This is why i love this game

The whole world doesn't need to be friendly, but the whole world shouldn't be solely interested in watching it burn either. The only way there is going to be some sort of semblance of "balance" is by inspiring the community. There will always be those who want to kill for sport. That's fine, let them. But one of these days, other players will band together and rise above the KOS. We don't fully have the tools for this yet, but there's a chance that it's coming. We've seen people set up trading centers, and medical units. We've seen "safe" zone attempts. There's good with the bad, as there should be. We, as a community, just need to start working on repairing the trust-- not blind trust. The hardest part of this is currently it feels like there's more negative experiences than good ones. People naturally will remember more bad than good, and will subsequently post more negative on the forums than good. Perhaps we should start recounting our friendly experiences as well as our omg rage got sniped, i'm kos now too.

    So...what's the point?? A noob's observation.

There's not clear point other than "Survive" How you chose to survive is up to you. Welcome to Chernarus.
