  1. The more times he combat logs and ghosts the more data the Devs get to squash these chumps. I know it sucks to be in the receiving end of bull, but his days are already numbered.

    Need 6 trustworthy, trained bandits

I found trustworthy bandit quite amusing.

Is everyone in DayZ like this?

Not everyone who plays this game is a certified douchebag, and when you find those people who are friendly, cherish them. They will be rarer than a mountain dew drop, but are possibly the most powerful resource in this game--a glimmer of humanity in a world gone cold.
  4. Petition? Because this is a democracy? *sigh* If you can't stand the heat, get out of Elektro. PVP is a vital part of this mod. If you don't like the KOS, then lets get people grouping and using voip more, doing random acts of kindness and paying it forward, not ask for pvp to be removed.
  5. I trust players. Sometimes blindly, sometimes cautiously. I go with my gut a lot. I sincerely look for the good in people. Don't for one minute think I'm stupidly naiive though--that will get you a bullet between your eyes.
  6. All those places you mentioned are high traffic areas generally, where you run a good deal of a risk going into. Sure it's risky trading, but at least a trade can be set up with parameters, and in theory, are easier to control--you've control of the environment, and the other party has agreed to terms. If you've got top notch gear, risking it for a suit may not be worth the reward. Lemme check my tent. I think I may have an extra kicking around if the damn thing hasn't eaten it. Edit: Nope. Tents got hungry. Hope you get a fair trade.

    Dungeons :)

I've been to the dungeons in DayZ. It was the NWAF. It had leet loot, and lots of zombies, and some crazy snipers. Every time I venture back to Cherno for medical supplies, which is pretty top tier loot, it's like running a dungeon.... I value your idea, and I agree that zed could be stepped up, but I'm not liking the whole instanced for better loot thing, because I fear, as was mentioned above, people would merely camp there and farm that, and we already do that with zones of this map. There needs to always be the element of other players killing you, or at least being able to interact with for loot, otherwise it's far too easy.
  8. LOL Thatguycalledreptile. I like your style, but I think your signature gives your ploy away. OP: I'd try and get in contact with a medic--see the Dr. Wasteland thread in the survivor HQ. I think there's also a unit that specializes in PVP hotzones. Good luck.

    Your scariest DayZ expierience

That dreaded "Crack" and shock symbol. Good thing that guy's a bad shot. Nothing makes me jump more than that sound. There was also a time when a zed spawned in nearby, but I caught it only out of the corner of my eye, and he did the raise rifle animation, it looked like a player just stood up. I've never thrown caution to the wind, spun and fired so many rounds in my life. I'm pretty sure I scared the shit out of my teammates too....
  10. Baelethal

Has this happened to anyone else?

Log back into a server and see what happens. You might be on the beach with your gear, you might be at a choose character menu. Just gotta log back in and find out.
  11. I've been learning the ropes of a sneaky sneak from a teammate lately. I don't snipe, it's not my style, however, my teammate and I have been quietly watching the watchers. If someone is obviously sniping just for shits and giggles, we sneak up behind them and deliver a sort of justice. It's amusing how close you can get to some of them, and they're so oblivious. Sometimes, I'll open voice chat and go prone next to them, say hello. The disconnects are mildly amusing. I wonder how many wookies have soiled their bush. I won't pull the trigger until I'm sure they're just there camping for kills. If they're countersniping, I let them be and move on.
  12. Baelethal

    Is this considered server hopping?

I'm not sure where the server hopping question is, but yes, please, for you and everyone else, pursue this new connection. It's very very difficult to play, as well as play with someone, who's ping is high.
  13. Try logging out and back in. If that doesn't work, try logging out and back into a different server. You're in the debug area.

Name your good deed of the day.

I had the drop on a guy in the Elektro market today. He seemed pretty decently geared, and he walked right in front of me, bent over and started looting, back to me. I only had a hatchet, but I opened voice comms, told him not to move from that gear menu, that I was going to disengage. I wished him luck and I moved on.
  15. I giggle a lot at these threads. One: they've been hashed and re-hased a million times. Your opinion isn't anything really new, but thanks for posting. Two: You're deluded thinking that there's only one way to play this game.
  16. We, the players, need to be the change we wish to see in the mod, not on the forums, but in the game. yar yar, cliche, but true. Is it going to get you shot when you attempt to talk to players instead of blindly shooting them? Probably. Is it worth the challenge? Yes. It takes one simple act of kindness to create a ripple. I'll let people go, or toss them a can of beans in hopes that the next person they come across they don't just blindly murder. Is this asking a lot? Probably. But, if I can help change one other person's gaming experience for the good, I have succeeded by my standards at this time. And for you bandits (you legitimate, thugging, mugging, maiming bandits) please keep on keeping on. Your form of survival keeps this game interesting. I've had some encounters with some of you real bandits, and I'll tell you they were some of the most entertaining and intense moments of this game. Thank you. Directly addressing the op: 1. Personally, I have my own moral compass, and I would rather not have a game impose one on me. Do some players seem to need this? Probably, but that's not for me to judge or force a certain play style on someone. I get Immersed. Others treat this like just another deathmatch with annoying zombies for scenery. 2. I think playing with people, and being able to hoard things promotes group play, which is what we would see in an apocalypse. I'm not sure decreasing guns would help anything in the PVP realm. If the devs wanted to, now would be the time to see what happens when we have no guns, or so many guns it's crazy, but that's up to the Devs and what they want to test. I know back a few patches when food and water wasn't spawning right, I had never felt so desperate in my entire gaming experience. I slaughtered every animal I saw and clung to the meat desperately. I looted every zombie I killed hoping, praying for food or water. I traveled and plotted my routes from lake to lake as to not dehydrate. Maybe decreasing gun spawns would trigger a similar reaction, but who knows. 3. There is a chance you'll get infected when hit. It's a low chance, which is good because antibiotics are rare. I also agree that zed should be a little more punishing, but currently, we're at a decent place with zed considering past patches. 4. This is being worked on. Have patience. They've tried the logout timer, but this causes mass duping because the engine doesn't like it. This will get fixed, you just need to give it time.

    Herro?! Herro? Are you friendly?

I want to see videos of firefights and holdouts, not this unarmed lulz junk.
  18. You gave clear instruction to back down. He moved into your space. There's nothing wrong for putting him down. "Friendly" or not, threat perceived, analyzed, neutralized.
  19. Baelethal

    Crossbows and zombies....

While I agree that bolts would be lovely if they stacked, I disagree with most of your other points.... Learn 2 Crossbow? Zed zigzag is just the way the pathing works with the engine. They might get better. I'm kinda fond of their zigzaginess. Gives them some character. It's ok if you lose bolts-- you can't always find your arrows in grass and brush in real life either. Have you ever tried finding a bolt that went a little off target... it's not as simple as it sounds. It should take some time scanning the surrounding ground for it.
  20. The only time I had this happen to me, I was in debug for a bit, but when I logged and relogged, I was back on the coast, in a random starting spawn with all of my gear. You killed the poor guy before he was even loaded in the game. GG?
  21. 4 times... you must be very forgiving and hardcore...

    Considering Survival

    1. I tend to play on the same server as my teammates, which is also the server I help fund. It's small, so there's not usually many players on even when full. When I'm looking for action, I'll hop into a larger server, especially when I'm looking to end my life. 2. I assess where I'm at--if they're dead inside a building, what is visible from where they died? I check rooftops. If they're dead in the street, I'll still check rooftops but I'll also check hillsides. Danger is always near, so I'm usually very cautious upon approach. I'll sit and wait a few minutes and then go in to loot if it looks like it's worth my time. 3. It truly depends on the situation. I've KOS'd from sheer reaction--someone logged behind a teammate. I've opened up lines of communication and established temporary partnerships. I've returned fire in defense. I've given someone the chance to stop firing at me and I've stopped firing at someone when they themselves communicated. I've lulled people into a sense of friendship while my teammates moved into position to kill them. Each encounter is a different story and a different outcome. Some ended in death, some ended in friendship, some ended at an impasse and each party walked away. I don't honestly have the gut for senseless killing, but if my squad is in danger, or I just witnessed you murder another player, I have no qualms pulling the trigger.

    DayZ almost literally unplayable

Please go and watch, read, listen to beginner guides. There are some lovely ones that have been written. Most of what you just ranted about are non-issues, you just need to learn the ropes. If you've never played ArmA, go mess around in armory or Boot Camp to learn the ropes of movement.
  24. Trust goes both ways, but ultimately, one party needs to make the leap of faith. OP is clearly stating he's willing to help and has laid everything out, it's up to the second party to make the leap of faith. If I wasn't already geared and set I'd check him out just to report back if he was legit or not ^.^ Have a little faith in people....

Why is there so many pussy's on DayZ

*sigh* I don't usually say this, but this isn't BF3, and shouldn't be played in the same manner....
