    Breach and Clear, anyone?

You said you saw three. You killed two. Can I not maths right today, or did I overlook something?

Is there any humanity in DayZ

There is humanity left in this sad little Chernarus, it's just hard to find sometimes. Sometimes I stop and wonder how many people I've walked by, who have seen me, but let me go simply because they didn't want to kill. Sometimes, I think back on all the people I let walk silently by because I didn't want any trouble. Then, there are the times I recall those brave souls that lent a hand--killing zombies or lending a morphine, and still others for whom I have returned the kindness. Not everyone on this game is a paranoid lunatic--some of us truly want to simply kill zombies and rebuild.

    How about a Kill Cam?

If you're in a team, and you go down, and can give information on your attacker, it's metagaming, which isn't discouraged or condemned, it's the way things work. At most, I can give a teammate rough location of killer, unless I'm one shot, then I would have to rely on my team hearing the shot and determining the shooter's location. (Assuming we're talking snipers. CQB I could probably give a teammate exact building and room.) However, any of this information is limited to how well I communicate with my team, how well my team listens, and how accurate my observations were--inotherwords, I'm human and prone to giving misinformation. Killcams are cheap metagaming, but give too much information--dare I say it--Gamebreaking information. It takes the guesswork out of where is safe and where isn't safe. A killcam is going to show you your enemy's location correctly 100% of the time. Sure occasionally, whenever I'm dropped from seemingly nowhere, I'm a bit curious about what sector I didn't scan thoroughly enough, but never curious enough to the point of desperately wanting to know, or even wanting a kill cam. I just chalk it up to an error on my part and move on. So, in short answer to your suggestion: Please, no.

    WTF IS THIS!!?

Bird is a holdover from ArmA-- in the missions, if you die, you get turned into a bird and can fly over the map and still watch your teammates play from the air. In this case, probably a hacker. The bird steers similar to flying a plane.

How To Protect Yourself From A Sniper Unarmed

Love it. Most snipers are gloriously unaware of their surroundings. I personally enjoy sneaking up behind a sniper, and even a sniper/spotter team, and instead of just killing them, going prone next to them and striking up a conversation. I don't usually get many words out before they DC. I secretly wonder how many bush wookies have soiled themselves. I don't want their gear, and they are probably better off dead, but I figure I'd give them a chance to see how silly they are, and hopefully amend their ways, or at least learn to look around more frequently.

Getting off on the right foot

Better idea? Squads, more than two. Stationed. Forget the barbed wire and sand bag nonsense, it's just going to slow you down in an attack. Overwatch--a few in different locations. Watchers to watch the overwatch. A TS or other such communication device. Designated in-town diplomat. I've been using a format like this for weeks now. It's easy to identify survivors and those who just want to cause trouble. I've had successful trades, have successfully saved a couple lives, successfully put down another squad of bandits, the likes. The only thing transparent about what you're proposing is that if you attempt to arm yourself, you're going to get shot. You can't put a primary weapon in a starter pack, and sitting in the hills isn't going to keep a new survivor alive from players you don't see, or zed (since newer players apparently have trouble with zed?).Unless you're also proposing that you're going to follow the unarmed around and when they pick up a weapon you kick them out of town?

Getting off on the right foot

I'll be honest I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish here...Just because someone's got a weapon doesn't mean they deserve a bullet--you've a weapon, and you think you're making the rules, which is cute, but you've no grounds to base any assumptions on when it comes to an armed survivor. I walk through Elektro helping the new spawns and keeping the hillsides clean from snipers, but I'm not mindlessly killing armed persons unless they're openly hostile. I guess I'm confused how this would be a "safe zone" and not marshal law by some wannabe cowboy?

    Conversations with Clueless

The irony is, even the intelligent fail. You can never get too complacent. You can never check your sector too many times. It's the second you let your guard down--the second you're no longer paranoid when disaster is going to strike.

    1.7.2.5 Graphical Glitches Still There

You realize that we're the testers, right? If the patch is broken, it's our job to tell him it's broken still, not whine that it's broken like some child demanding a lolly. This isn't butterfly eating and rainbow shitting unicorns. It's DayZ. Expect broken and dirty.
  10. I would recommend what Elysium said-- If you scout ahead and clear it, you can land basically on top of the refuel station. Refueling Helos are best done in a group, just to let you know. One or two people need to be guarding the helo while a few people with nothing but jerry cans in their active inventory run fuel. Otherwise, you're going to be at the pump for ages trying to get fuel into that monster.

Nice to see some friendlies out there

Good story. Glad to see these types of friendly encounters being spread on the forums. Keep up the good work.

Who would like to do this?! AWESOME!!

Been there. Done this. Needs a few more tools in game to make this idea truly shine, unfortunately. This map gets really small really quickly--no one wants to sit guard all day, and when no one is able to be around, your stuff will disappear, or all your hard work will be eaten by the server. Such is life in DayZ.

The Scariest Thing in the Game

I've jumped countless times, swung my gun around ready to light someone up, only to have a rabbit race past my feet. They're going to be the death of me.

    What would you do?

Tactically, you were meant to lose that day. Assailant had elevation, and an unknown location as well as the element of surprise on his side. You were pretty squeezed in that ravine, there wasn't a whole lot more you could have done. Personally, I would have followed the ravine east and cut up to one of the hillsides on the north, waited and watched. If the assailant started to move in to loot your friends or the vehicle, you would have turned the tables with elevation, unknown location and surprise on your side.

My concern about DayZ atm (look please)

It's beautiful that you can still tell a little bit about someone's intentions just by observing their body language.
  16. Get off your lazy bottom and go get it yourself?

    Manly stubble

As a female, I don't want no damn beard. But I do like grizzled men. Carry on.
  18. I've noticed the issue with Zed running at you from miles out. On more than one occasion, I've caught a zed start running out of the corner of my eye and wondered where the other player was, only to have the zed come sprinting at me. It made no sense why that monkey way out yonder would even bother noticing me while the three zed that I'm splitting the difference between are nonplussed. I enjoyed sneaking through zed--the hoping to not get caught at slow crouch by a player's bullet was nerve wracking. Now I just crouch jog and run almost everywhere, jump a few fences, turn a few corners and lose the zed. I'm moving fast so there's less chance someone's going to be able to tag me with a bullet, and the zed are a non-issue because they're lost as fast as I pick them up. I'd kinda like to see more zed in towns like Cherno or Elektro, and perhaps slightly fewer in smaller towns up north.

    You fail to understand hacking

Yes. If you want to test weapons, there's an armory for that. What you're given in game is what you're given. If you can't find it, then go look for it. You're not here for your own amusement, you're here to test a mod. Play with your scripting and toys elsewhere.

    How can I replanish blood?

Yea, at this time you can't use a bloodbag on yourself. If you're playing in a team, that's when bloodbags come in handy.
  21. Baelethal

    How can I replanish blood?

Eating canned food gives you back 200 blood per can. If you have a hatchet, matches, hunting knife, you can kill an animal, gut it, cook it, eat it to replenish 800 blood per meat.

    Is Mountain Dew bad luck?

From what I've heard of stories whilst sitting around the Teamspeak campfire, nothing good can come of Mt. Dew, especially if it's pulled off a corpse of another player. I'll see if I can get the guys to retell some of the horrific tales.
  23. Baelethal

How to take an Alice Pack?

If the ALICE is on the guy, you need to open up the gear of the guy (just gear in the scroll menu) and scroll all the way down to where is says ALICE in the list, and use the arrow to move it over to your character.
  24. I would like to see this played out. Beans for you, and hopefully this will catch some attention.

I will never play at night

I flare out major cities at night just because. It's hell on the NVGs. Sure you're exposed, but so long as you're not carrying the flare like a moving beacon, it's still fairly easy to avoid others. Night time is amazing for looting, not gonna lie.
