If someone asks you to go to Cherno, don't go to cherno :P Trust is a huge thing in DayZ. Always mention you are friendly, and even after that, when you bump into other players, aim at them, tell them to drop their weapons, and make sure they are friendly. Or vice versa. It could save your skin. Whenever you see a chopper or hear gunshots, hit the ground and scan your surroundings for a while. Last thing you want is to be spotted by a ghillie sniper (camo guys that are very hard to spot) or get destroyed by a chopper gunner. Also, whenever you hear flies, it usually means someone has died near you, as with the shots, also go prone for a bit or crouch to make sure whoever killed that person is long gone. Ammo is important. Don't waste shots. And if you can, don't shoot too often unless it's 100% necessary. Other players and zombies can hear the shots and go towards your direction. Food consumption. Don't eat or drink until your meters are below 1/4 or flashing. It's more efficient and to no ill effect. Use them at the last minute and you save time and food. Vehicles. as with guns, they make a lot of noise and you are visible from quite a long distance. If you have one, take the backroads and avoid the main highways. At night: Flashlights, flares and glowsticks. These make you extremely visible at night, so unless it's pitch black, try to navigate by turning on and off your flashlight, or if you're lucky, get a nightvision set. When it's full moon, I wouldn't really bother using a flashlight as much. Simply heighten your brightness and gamma to see better. That's pretty much it. Enjoy the game! :)

There's a demo of arma 2, so test that out, and if you can run it, most likely scenario is you can also run DayZ. Anyways, what are your rig's speccs?

That's been my suspicion. But what I can't figure out is why only in DayZ and not in other games? I do own an alienware, and they are quite known to overheat.

I'm using my Nvidia control panel, everything is set to high performance, all settings are to maximize performance. Is that what you're refering to?

I've been playing DayZ for over a month and a half now. So far so good. LOVING this mod. Although I do have an issue, yeah, the classic low FPS issue is somewhat still present, *currently upgrading my card, from a Nvidia Geforce 555m, to a better GTX model, seeing which one fits my m14x.* But I wasn't bothered much since I got 30+ fps, with the classic 20-25 fps in towns . To fix this I used the force 3D via DayZcommander, and my FPS was boosted quite a bit *I gained around 10 -15 frames*, also editing the GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1; GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1; as many people have mentioned in some posts. But recently I've been suffering random FPS drops all over the place. As soon as I play DayZ, I start running around a bit, my FPS drops from 40 to 10 for about 3 seconds, and the process repeats every 10-15 seconds. Almost unplayable. I have what I consider a decent laptop. Speccs: Alienware M14x, 8 GB RAM, i7, Windows 7, Nvidia GEforce 555m (with all drivers up to date), and all DayZ updates via DayZcommander. I can play other games at max graphics (skyrim, asc3, darksiders2, to name a few with 60+ fps without any drops whatsoever. I also play a few MMO's and those run fine as well.) Any ideas? Thanks!
