  1. Your whole point is based on the fact that more experienced players have an advantage over those new players. Well of course they do, they have 'been there and done that'. We all started off not really knowing WTH was going on and/or what to do, which is part of the charm of this game IMO and what stirs me on to experience more. I have a full time job and have picked things up fine. Yes it would have taken me longer in real-time than someone pumping 50hrs p/w into the game, but you get there. There are people with families and much more responsibility than I here and they also do fine. It's just the 'you get knocked down, you dust yourself off and start again' type of philosophy. Those that can't handle that fact are going to have a bad time. My final point would be that making it 'super hard' is EXACTLY the right direction. If you want to play an easier game there are LOADS of them on the market. This game sits in a niche that tailors to those not wanting another 'mass market/casual' experience.
  2. It's more verifiable than what you have wrote and this isn't a PhD thesis, this is a forum, on the internet about a game... Other parties are trying to progress the discussion with hypothesis and your'e just being a bigot and not coming back with any rebuttal. Edit - Just noticed your other thread, which explains everything about your attitude by the way you responded there
  3. Just reread your post and wanted to say I completly agree with this statement, but don't think making infected slow is the way forward.
  4. You can get infected by them hitting you and many other 'actions' in the game - unless something major has changed recently (I know there has been a patch and hotfix). Getting infected with the lack of antibiotics has been one of the 'hot topics' recently so not really sure where you were going with this. However, I have read you posts since your reply and will understand if you don't want to continue in this discussion, just wanted to answer the question you posed to me on the back of my statement
  5. 1. The fact they are slow will mean you should have a large window of oppertunity to grab what you need and get out of there before they return. This is a tactic used in many a game, not just this genre where there are slow things between you and your objective, whatever that might be, and a reason I'm not fond of slow infected/zombies as they are too easily outwhitted using simple tactics. Howerver, fast or slow, they should prob look to return to their spawn location, else locations could find themselves empty of infected - easy pickings. 2. Aye, you could bump into other infected, but again as they are slow they aren't really going to get you, unless you actually run into their face, then it's really your own fault for not looking where you are going. It works differently in Zomboid cos you can't see very far, whereas in Dayz/Arma you will likely see them before they see you. There isn't really going to be a consensus eitherway, as some people like slow and some like fast (TWD/28 Days Later), but at this point if there were to change to a completly differenty style of infected it would come as a big shock to everyone I would think
  6. Personally I find slow infected/zombies/enemies in any game pretty pathetic really, even in large numbers. I feel the thing that MAKES these infected a threat/scary is the fact they ARE fast (disregarding their zig-zag movement for a moment). If the infected were slow they might at well not be in the game. eg. You are in Electro wanting to loot the store, but there is a massive horde there. Simply get their attention to pull them away, loose them and return to a nice empty shop prime for looting. Obviously you will need to determine if there are bandits about, but I think you get my point

    Good Bye m107 & AS50

Looks like we have a new contender for G000gle's throne with regards to both content and comprehention
  8. MK48 for sure. Same sight, but a lot more powerful. It's like having a full auto M14 and it would take something pretty special for me to not use it

    Survivor/Hunger Games...

Have a look here pal - http://www.survivorgamez.com/home.html I'm sure there will be other servers/organisers out there doing this sort of thing. I know many do events and this is just another event type.

    M&KB or xBox controller?

I was just trying to get across that buying a console then using a keyboard and mouse (occasionally) certainly doesn't make the reasons you purchased said console moot. Not wanting to ream off all the reasons one would buy a console, but the first one off the top of my head would be you don't need to worry about whether your console can play the games you want. Consoles are pretty much Plug and Play in that regard, which I would imagine is a pretty strong selling point really. Not looking to start a load of quotes back and forth, but wanted to rebut your statement somewhat, as I personally don't agree with it.

    M&KB or xBox controller?

If your reasons for buying a console is so you can use a controller sat on your couch, that's a very expensive controller you're buying.
  12. This thread should help - http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/110328-corrupted-memory-need-help-no-posts-at-all-on-any-website/
  13. Wasn't that 'Plan A' - just recreate the mod as its own SA on new architecture, but they decided to go further with 'Plan B', which was take this opportunity and actually build upon what they had (the mod)? Hopefully that answers your 'WHY THE FUCK'

    Anyone else agree?

I think he was just being sarcastic to make a point
  15. Boshed

    Anyone else agree?

Personally I'm not fussed with the frequency or content therein regarding the dev updates. My view is probably based on the fact that I let the released version do all the 'talking' rather than the 'hype'/build-up. I'm sure others with disagree =D

    Don't be afraid

I think the thing you need to take away from this is that it's not an arcade/FPS game it's an anti-game and is only going to get harder as it develops not easier, which is exactly what the core community want (from what I can gather). I love sniping and look forward to the new challenges these upcoming changes are to bring.

    Don't be afraid

    Not this one! =D

    Don't be afraid

As I understand it all weapons will be effected by the upcoming changes, it's just that it will be more noticeable when using a sniper due the ranges involved.
  19. I think Tek has completed missed the OP's point and the question he posed. Seems he's getting all hot and bothered about semantics, but anyway... I feel both changes would require a change of tactics. The first point more around looting buildings and the second how cautious you are when approaching and passing through towns. No longer having this 'six-sense' as to whether someone is at the town you are scouting I feel will be one of the biggest changes to the game. Personally at the moment if you see infected ahead of you it puts you into a state of vigilance as you pretty much KNOW someone is around there somewhere and you act accordingly. You will have to relay more or other identifies, such as dead infected, aggro, etc. or indeed just scout for longer before moving in. It's somewhat similar to when they removed the peripheral dots. I thought they were a bit 'cheaty' (another 'six-sense' if you will) and LOVE the fact its now been removed. When in the trees between towns I would often find myself looking more at the side of the screen and orientating myself in such a way that would allow me to work out what was to come. You can no longer do that so tactics had to change. Like some others have mentioned I feel this change (how infected spawn) will have a bigger impact on the game than anticipated, at least for the short term.

    Sounds?

I use a set of Turtle Beach X11s personally and don't have such an issue, so as others have said I expect it might be the hardware and/or simply a configuration issue. Have you tested out different configurations and do you have this issue with other games? Worth a look
  21. The WarZ has a safe place to store gear (their Global Inventory) which pretty much makes the game nothing more than a loot farming game. With a large amount of 'safe loot' stored up no one really fears for their lives as there is little to loose from death and you can simply 'rearm' and off you go. NB - I know some of what I have said holds true for Dayz, but I would argue not quite to the same degree. Disclaimer - Not here to start any kind of WarZ discussion, but rather brought it up as a reference of a game that has (in principle) exactly what the OP is talking about. Moreover, I don't play Warz, but have lurked on their forums somewhat

dayz evolution in SA: [1] the loot system

I feel the same as Fluxley with regards to not really wanting to know every last detail. Learning, researching, exploring and experimenting is half the fun (for me at least) and the lack of knowledge will also add some fresh life to the experience. I work in IT myself as a project and development manager (although this is probably true for all industries that 'create' something) and have to deal with this type of thing from customers all the time. You can't and shouldn't provide *details* on something that isn't yet finished and is still a work in progress. Providing information regarding the concept or what you are looking to achieve is fine, but giving full details of something that isn't yet complete and will likely change is just making a rod for your own back. Something I'm sure Rocket has learnt during his time as a developer

Understandable. You may find this useful - http://www.dayzwiki.com/wiki/Weapons

    Lowest common denominators

Just means it wasn't an AS50 is all. Even if he shot you in the toe you would have died
  25. I would also like to request that the duplication and Combat Logging 'tips/tricks' should be removed as you are basically providing a tutorial on how to cheat. Moreover, these are areas the community dev team are actively trying to prevent.
