    Spawn Changes Too Soon!

There's more to Chernarus than Balota. Time to (re)learn that for a lot of people :)

    New Player

Welcome. The road to a polished DayZ is going to be long and arduous, but survive the bugs and the children and you'll do just fine :D

    Sick of seeing stupid threads!

I'm sick of people hating the posts about being sick of certain posts. My head hurts.

    Random encounters

My random encounters have mostly been friendly. The last guy I bumped into even gave me a Mosin. Then there was the prick who let me kill the zombie that was attacking him before shooting me with his M4.

    Feedback: Melee.

Certain aspects of melee in DayZ are great already, but others need a lot of work. I think the availability of melee weapons is at a really good level, though perhaps being a bit rarer would be ok. When you just spawn, it's nice to quickly have something other than fists to fight the zombies with. Second point: the strength of the melee weapons feels really good. Not overpowered, not useless. Still pretty ineffective against a gun, even if you manage to get in close, unless your opponent can't aim. Good thing. The bad: different melee weapons swing in different ways, right? Some of the weapons are just fine to use. Others (like the crowbar) feel very clumsy and frustrating to me. I was being slapped repeatedly by a zombie while I awkwardly tried to land decent blows. I think this needs some attention, and perhaps while it's worked on melee weapons should all share the same kind of swing (like the fire axe, please! :D) Already having some good fun with the game, so thanks :)

    Lets talk about 22. lr

These guns would be great for filling the role the Winchester plays in the mod: ideal gun for friendlies. Plentiful ammo, relatively quiet, great for taking out zombies. Not so good for PvP. Just holding a .22 rather than a Mosin, for example, could say something about a player. Just like you react to someone with a Winnie differently to someone with a Lee.

    Cool Spawn Idea

I don't see how 'owning' the houses would work with the hive system, but using houses all over the map as spawns instead of the coast sounds great to me. Makes more sense both in terms of 'story' and practicalities like everyone swarming to Balota.

    What's your favorite town/city?

Berezino will always have a place in my heart.

    Figuring out who to trust

I guess I've been pretty lucky with finding friendlies. Even at the Balota base, with an axe in my hand, I have encountered a couple of guys with M4s and when I waved at them, they waved back and we went different ways. Chances are at least one of them had a bullet he could have put in my face. Usually if someone has a gun I won't take a chance with them unless I'm already vulnerable. Unarmed or melee only, I approach with caution and communicate with voice.

    Feedback: Melee.

Thanks IcyBlade, I didn't realise that. I'll have a little play around and see if I have more success ignoring the crosshair.

    I'm sick and confused.

Perhaps being sick due to eating too much is seperate from being sick from rotten food etc. I read in another thread that eating charcoal when you're not sick... makes you sick. So yeah, maybe you used charcoal for the wrong thing. I'm not sure, though,

    A question (Requiring Answers)

I think it would be used. People with a broken leg miles from a hospital, very sick and dying anyway but don't want to wait, even denying an enemy their kill by suiciding somewhere hidden and hoping they cant find your body. Not saying these are good things, just that the feature would see use if implemented.

Arma 3 weapons as heli crash loot!

iirc heli crashes aren't going to be included in the Standalone.
  14. funky_mish

    Mosin Nagant?

I found a mosin in a house, but no ammo. Then I lost connection, and my character. Still, I felt pretty cool for about two minutes.

    [suggestion] please add sleeping pills

Though I'm not entirely on board with this idea... the whole thing about poisoning food for revenge on your killer raises a good idea. Something like this, adding a risk to killing and looting people even after they're dead, would surely make some people think twice before murdering everyone they see.
  16. I bought an alpha version of the game that was stated to only be available so people can help with development. So here's my feedback. And for a change from a lot of the posts here... it's positive. The biggest complaints people had with the mod after a while were "endgame is boring" and "there's too much PvP"... which I think was in large part down to a lot of bored endgame players teabagging each other. The list of things to get in order to reach endgame was pretty short: food, water, guns, ammo, backpack, medical supplies, hunting supplies, better guns and ammo. Done. Maybe a car or a helicopter. With the SA, the list is just getting longer. You've got to find all those things and more, like find out your blood type, get blood bags of that type, get sterile bandages as opposed to just rags. Keep stocked up on batteries as well as other consumables. And the list will get longer over time. All the while it's easier to die without completing this list... and then you get to start again. I don't mind saying that I'm not all that good at the mod. It takes a few sizable strokes of luck for me to get to endgame... and I like that, because I don't get bored. I always have something to work towards. So to conclude I like how the SA is making that more difficult, because hopefully more players can have the kind of fun with it I had with the mod. This is like old games like Sonic or Mario. No one whined because there was no save and they couldn't complete the game. They just started from level 1 again. Learn to embrace game over again :D

    Death by can opener.

I used a can opener to open a Mountain Dew at Green Mountain... ...no one should have to see what I saw.

    My Opinion on DayZ's Direction

DAYZ SA 500+ ROCKET AVIATORS, CUSTOM LOADOUT (INCL. ROCKET AVIATORS), ALWAYS DAY (SO YOU ALWAYS NEED ROCKET AVIATORS) etc etc.

Opening a tin can on concrete.

Challenging game mechanics over absolute realism. :) I did like these guys a lot, though. "And guess what. Cat gonna survive too."

    THE NEW PRISON

I must have missed this prison thing... any word on how that's going to be implemented? I'm thinking of people being kidnapped and taken there... and then having one hell of a boring time ha.
  21. I pre-ordered Watch Dogs a month before release... then the bastards delayed it.

    All out war

What these guys are saying, some more tactfully than others, is that 'clan wars' like this are far better supported in things like the Wasteland mission in Arma 2. You'd have a lot more fun there than doing it with DayZ. Have a look for it on youtube and you'll get an idea.

    my favourite building

Or three wood piles. Still, I detour for all barns and deer stands. Early in a life I tend to have some good luck in churches too. I tend to avoid the hospitals in Cherno and Elektro, and once I've got some decent gear I head up to the one in Berezino instead. I love Berezino.

    Day Z Interface

Having the brackets there would still be a rough guide though. Obviously not as helpful as a crosshair, but more helpful than nothing at all. Place target between brackets and click. I'm not trashing the guy's work, though. I agree that it's not so much a DayZ theme, but it still looks great.

    Modern dayz in a nutshell

Today I joined one of these servers. I ran someone over with a humvee, got shot in the face by a guy I offered a lift in my bus to, then baited wannabe AA gunners with a Huey. Then I got bored with that and crashed the Huey into the middle of Cherno. Not exactly DayZ, but it did a good job of killing 30 minutes.
